I'm just joining today, but I saw somewhere a bumper sticker that says "Whoever dies with the most fabric WINS!!" I plan on winning!

I am new to this website, but I need help with storage problems in my sewing room. My room is about 8 x 10, and I have a closet along one complete wall on the 10' side. I have things in plastic tubs, boxes, file cabinet, etc. but I still can never put my hands on anything I want without having to search forever. I need some sort of organization method. Any ideas? also, what about the tables, etc. to hold your machines, etc. Thanks for your help.

Dottikins - Welcome to the wonderful site, you will become addicted like the rest of us. Go to the Quilting Photo section, some of us have put pictures of our rooms on there and maybe that will give you some ideas on organization

You never know when you might not have a job and money to buy fabric. Good to have a supply.

I just saw the episode of Eleanor's with the song and video "100 ways to hide your stash". It was SO funny! I think one lyric went like "he's got his cars, he's got his golf, and YOU have FAAAAABRIIC". And the woman is holding about 6 bolts of fabric, spinning in a circle in the middle of the shop.

Sometimes I buy fabric because I need it for a project. Other times hey I like it and it might not be at the LQS next time I get there! I love the quilt shows and will find myself buying fabric from vendors who are not in the tri state area. It's so much fun to see what kinds of fabrics come from other states. We have such a spectrum of colors and designs!!!
I'm trying to use what I have and find I need to purchase fabric because what I thought was a good size piece really isn't. Fat quarters are good but don't always fill the bill.

In the Still Stripping DVD there's a segment with Orion and Sue Bouchard about fabric stash, she's hiding it all over the house and it's pretty funny, too.
