A friend just gave me one of those sashes. She bought it at a craft show. She called it a "chatelain". I guess I could google that and see if that's the proper name for it.

I like to add that I use my big thread spools when empty to put my binding on and put a rubber band around it. I sew my binding strips and iron them and then put on the spools till I 'm ready for them then I take a heavy string and put throught the hole and tie and put around my neck and It works pretty good.

Hi my tip is for your "fleet" of sewing machines/sergers. To store the extra ones off the sewing table, go to goodwill/thrift shops/garage sales. Look for TV carts or microwave carts on wheels. They are nice for putting that extra machine on top, all of the machine's accessories and manual on bottom and some have 2 shelves. I saw one micro cart with a small wine rack that could be used to store rolls of interfacing....but it had "sold" marked on it!! Just check out the wheels to make sure they are in there tight and working. Easy to switch from one machine to the other. threadtheneedle

I put a tiny piece of scotch tape over the end of my thread in the bobbin which keeps it from bobbling around and doing crazy noises. LOL

If you want to remove thread from bobbins, get a fairly large plastic screw-top container (I use an old fish oil capsule one ), poke a hole with an ice pick or something in the lid. Thread one end of the thread from the bobbin through the hole from the inside out. Holding the thread, drop the bobbin inside the container and screw the lid back on. Pull on the thread and voila! empty your bobbins. You can do multiple bobbins at once. This tip is probably more useful to longarmers but if you want matching thread or just want to empty bobbins that were nearly gone anyway this is pretty good.

I have a question how would you sew some felt material to the back of regular fabric when making a quilt? I'm making my boyfriend a quilt for Valentines day, and was wondering how to go about putting the felt onto the fabric to make it look very good and warm all at the smae time...any helps greatly apprecitated

I would probably use fabric glue, sparingly or hand sew it to the fabric by hand, but not let it show on the right side of the fabric. If you are using this instead of batting all you have to do is sew as usual. If you are using this as backing for your quilt be aware that felt has a tendency to get little nobies. Hope this helps.
