You would be doing well to get me on a plane these days. Used to travel overseas on business trips with hubby years ago but I have always HATED flying.

Fabric is not that hard to come by over here it's just so darn expensive for good quality. Because of that I am always terrified to make that first cut into the material in case I stuff it up (which I have done too many times to count). If I'm going to put all that work into a quilt for someone I love I want it to last.

For my part, I'd hop on a plane to Paducah any day, if only I'd have the time and the money... It won't be next year, but one year soon I'll hopefully make it. What a great way to build up your stash!

Kadie, yes, it is really the same thing here: fabric in general is not hard to find, and there are lots of gorgeous fabrics for home decoration in the fabric stores. They are all too heavy/thick for quilting, though...

Kadie - you cracked me up!!! Before my little heart procedure a few weeks ago they gave me a Valium and 2 Benadryl. I must say I didn't give a rat's a** what they did to me. I was SO relaxed I couldn't even move my mouth to talk hardly. When they took me to the cath lab I noticed it was new and I tried to tell them that and they couldn't understand me. I suppose I was drunker than a skunk but I didn't give a hoot. That combination of drugs will get you thru anything!!!

My first overseas flight I was tanked up on valium and travel sickness tabs. Didn't even make it fron Sydney to Melbourne without barfing. 56 hours later(we had plane trouble and got stuck in Dubai) we arrived in Frankfurt. Luckily had a lovely flight attendant who dosed me up on something that actually worked for the travel sickness and the nerves.

56 hours, Kadie, oh, dear! So besides the nerves, you get air sick, too? That must be a bummer. How do you do on boats?

I can't imagine - I LOVE to fly. Give me a ticket most anywhere and I will go. Too bad my finances don't match my desire to fly anywhere.

My thoughts are if we were meant to fly we'd 'ave been given wings and if we were meant to swim we'd 'ave been given gills
