Do you ever wonder . . . .

There used to be a "Quilter's Last Will & Testament" available to print out on Quilters News Network. I don't see it now. But I did print it out, made a few changes, and had it signed by my quilting friends. My stuff is all taken care of, though I intend to be around for MANY more years. I'd like to think that I'll use it all up before the Will is needed, but knowing myself as I do, I'll keep buying until my last breath!

Is this the "Last Will & Testament" you saw? Here is "Willing Your Stash" (GP take note! lol)

Being of sound mind and body (a statement that does not bear close scrutiny) I ___________________ do hereby record my last will and testament. Knowing that, my _________________ (husband, sister, daughter) has no appreciation, or for that matter, knowledge of my extensive fabric collection, which, by the way is deposited in various places throughout my house for safekeeping; knowing also that __________________ has also notified the goodwill store should I precede him/her to that great fabric shop in the sky, to pick up and dispose of the aforementioned collection.
Therefore, I do WILL this collection and all other collections related to it, to my dear fellow fabric perseervationist ____________________. It is my wish that she, upon hearing of my death and obtaining clear proof that I did not manage (although goodness knows I tried) to take it with me, will come to my home, before the Goodwill store searches out my collection. That she should rescue said collection and stack it in my sewing room(s), along with my sewing machines(s), quilting frames, old buttons, lace, patterns, quilts, dolls, and works in progress. And, after she has done that, she should purchase refresments for all my friends, not yet departed, which friends are also here friends, and every last one shall be in that room and they shall hold a wake and say lots of lovely and kind things about me until they run out and then they shall divide amongst themselves my wonderful collection. Be forewarned! I shall be hovering over that very spot until this is done!

Oh, LOL!!!! I know exactly where my quilting things are going - the local thrift shop! I have never seen a piece of good cotton fabric in there (they have 4-5 stores), and found out why last fall. Every two years, they have a quilt auction that helps raise money. This organization also has training facilities for handicapped people, etc. so it all goes to a good cause!

You know I was wondering why the FBI contacted me the other day. They were asking questions about GP and something about a stash. I told them, "I do not recall anything." Of course that may be because I have CRS (can't remember sh**) disease.

That's the one, Linda!! I thought it was so funny - and so true! I made a few changes, giving my daughters a chance at my machines. But I have one daughter who asked me if I could do some sewing for her when I came to visit. I said 'Sure, do I need to bring my machine or can I use yours?" She assured me that it was simple sewing and that I could use her machine. When I got there, I asked her where her machine was, and she hauled it out of a closet (still in the box). When she set it up on the table, my dear 6 year old grandson asked "Mommy, what's that??" She was BUSTED! So I doubt seriously that she'll want ANY of my wonderful sewing supplies!!

I think I'll make mine simple.

I hereby declare that all my fabric goes to QIAD-Linda for her to disburse amoung members of the QIAD forum as she deems appropriate.
You can be "executor" of my stash!


But I am hoping that before I leave for the great beyond I'll have time to sew up most of it!

Sniff, Maryq, you brought tears to my eyes. I am very honored and promise on my stash to be fair and honest. However, I hope you will be sewing to the very last second and only leave tidbits behind for disbursement! lol

I may make my self a badge to wear around here all day to say that I am offically on record as being your stash executrix! OK, I'm not so humble! You really made my day!

ROFL Yall are ALL so funny!!! I don't like to even think about this stuff. I guess my stash and notions, books, etc can cause my kids a huge headache since they have each caused me a few over the yrs. DH I think would keep all of my stuff and go in & visit it occassionally just remembering or wondering, When and Why I bought this or that. LOL

I may have to have my atty. re-word some of that will, the "of sound mind" part. Because no one in their right mind would stock-pile as much fabric as I have and be considered of sound mind. One of my many problems is that when I use fabric that I really love, then I get hyper that it's gone and have to get more just like it. You should have seen me when El's Yours Truly line started getting hard to find...it posed a definite health risk for me. I stock-piled it like a little pack-rat, yep, just call me "Packy". DH tells me he wants to buy a larger house within a year, and specifically one with a huge daylight basement for my quilt studio. (don't you love the sound of that word!?) So, I knew if I went forward with my fabric acquisition plan, that this is where it'd take me...I have flat run the man out of his house and home at long last, to a new home with a quilt studio! And...I'm working on shortening the time he plans this from a year to maybe 4 months. Of course, the downside is that I can't have anyone come visit in the meantime because I'm wall-to-wall textiles!!! LOL!
