Well it's good that Punk is still at that young and adorable age!! I'm in the mood now to make a kitty lap quilt but I need to hunt down material with a cat theme.
I just rearranged my sewing room today, so now I'm in the mood to create!! I discoverd some fat quarters I bought awhile back that have a "Ice Cream & Party" theme to them. I was thinking of making a table runner. The colors are very lively! Two fat quarters have ice cream cones on them, with sauce and cherries on top. Candy sprinkles all over a black background on another, and one has decorated party balloons, and the last has polka dots in the same colors to match.
I'm not sure what kind of Block I should use. Any creative ideas
will be welcome !!! The reason for wanting to do a table runner
with this material is for a "Candy House Decorating Party" I do at
Christmas. We invite everyone we know who wants to make a Candy House
to come on over. Some adults never made one when they were a kid.
I go out and buy about 20 different candies in bulk and it is so
colorful when I set everything out, that this material will be perfect
to set some of the candy on for the party. I've just got to put it together the right way because it is so busy and so adorable.

Your fabric sound really pretty!! I'm sure whatever whichway you make it up will be great.
I don't really understand a candy house. Is it made out of cake and covered in lollies? I've heard of gingerbread houses but not candy(we call them lollies).

We call them candy houses because they are on the same theme as gingerbread houses, but we don't use gingerbread. It is not strong enough for the creations everybody makes. We use graham crackers
and cardboard and sometimes styrofoam. I make a special icing that
hardens like a rock that they use for all the candy, or lollies as
you call them. I love the name that you use for candy, I'm going to remember to tell everyone that!

Graham crackers? Not sure what these are. I take it the candy house isn't for eating if it has styrofoam and cardboard in it. What a waste of good lollies!!!

If you describe them to me I might get an idea. Are they sweet or savoury. Square or round etc

Graham crackers are square, dark brown in color, has more of a sweet
taste to it. And everybody gets to bring home their candy house and yes, they do pick the candy/lollies off to eat them! And that happens only after everyone has taken pictures of whatever they created.
One year someone made a tractor. It was amazing! My son made a motorcycle once. The guys seem to like to get more in competition
with each other. Does that surprise any of us !!!

I googled them and found a site that showed a picture! Sounds like what we call Marie biscuits which we either eat as they are or crush up for a biscuit base,but they look entirely different

I like the name " Marie biscuits" better than the name "graham crackers", and we also use them for a base in cheesecake pies.

Talking about different languages and different sayings etc have you been looking under the General Quilting Discussions on this forum at the topic "regional differences"? It is really very funny that one word can mean so many different things and that some things can be called so many different names, especially in the one country.
