Re: October Block Lotto
Anyone else having trouble finding fabric that doesn't have Santa or snowmen or reindeer in it? I went to Hancock's and they have a rack of Christmas fabrics. Many blues... red/green plaids, white with a large print in green and red, and a couple of greens that had a design of some sort in it. Since it was in with the Christmas fabrics, I put it in the cart. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the design was a horse, a cowboy and a lasso!!! I'm so glad I looked it over!
Didn't find any floral designs at all. Will go to Joann's tomorrow to see what they have there. I thought there'd be tons of that fabric out by now, what with Christmas coming up pretty quick, really, for those who make their gifts.

Ok. Now tell me again about the postage. For every block we send, we also give you a stamp. I don't even know what postage is these days as I send all my bills as ebills. So, are you talking 1 of those stamps? Will there be room for the winner's address on the envelope with all those stamps? lol.

Yes, you put in a regular stamp for each block, and we live in a really small town, I know my post master and he ususally lets me give him the stamps ,he tosses them, and marks paid on the envelope...I usually send them in a big envelope,,,sometimes a box,,,but its no problem .

Oasis--beautiful blocks! It looks like the rays of the first two stars are one piece and not parts of two HSTs--the print doesn't show a seam. And are the corners sewn with Y seams?

Hi Northbound/Sharon, and Welcome, I don't think I have seen your name before.
No not "Y" seams, I haven't taken that challenge on yet. LOL
The print/theme fabric is one 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 piece with a background 3 1/2 square on one end and a green print 3 1/2 square on the opposite and diagonal end. Kind of a variation on the flying geese unit. I like to use this technique or a flying geese when I can to replace HST as the print doesn't have to be cut up so much. And if you are working with stripes, it keeps the stripes nice and straight. Less seams to match also. Below is a picture showing the units:

Re: October Block Lotto
Maybe someone will get a chuckle out of this 'pioneer dilemma' going on in my area.
DD took the blocks to PO for me yesterday, we did not realize that the PO is STILL without electricity, and are only giving out mail and collecting already stamped pieces.
Current estimates are that power will not be restored until Friday.
If DD or anyone goes to a location with (A) Post office and (B) electricity before that, it WILL go in the mail, otherwise, it won't go til we have power at the local one.
I know this sounds truly wierd, but we live in a rural area and it is 10 miles to the PO. DD and family live in town there and have been driving out here for showers, cooking and laundry. The water supply for the town went down too with the storm. Part of that has been restored.
I am glad we are out of town, have LP cooking and water heater a generator and a good well. Our power was restored Sunday afternoon, oddly enough, we are ususally the last ones instead of town where the school is. And they are having school, at least short days.

Thanks Oasis! I lurk here but am working full time so don't post much. I like the way your method makes the best of the larger scale prints.
