Re: Thursday, February 13
Well I, too, have fallen victim to the post eater. The one day I was able to chat!!! Drat. I only have a few minutes before we leave for the city.
It's going to be almost 60 here today - I'll be sure to enjoy it for all of you caught in the polar vortex. The dog is headed to the groomers, and we're going to Red Lobster for our valentines dining. By the way, my DH really got a hankering for German chocolate cake after I mentioned people talking about it here. I found a frozen layer of it from his bday 19 months ago! I defrosted it and made the coconut pecan frosting - it was FAB! I use that food saver vacuume system thingy.
Prayers for our Jules as they bury her nephew today....
Xoxo Sharona

Sharona - we are down to the last piece of german chocolate cake, but it belongs to the birthday girl. BUT Victoria and Rich's anniversary is coming up so maybe I'll make another one - except than I should let them have it. Hmmmmm. And I'm supposed to be reducing myself!

Been reading all of the posts and am amazed, sad, joyful, and all sorts of other feelings. For those doing any sewing, quilting, fabric fondling, congratulations! You get to do something wonderful.
For those with health issues, prayers are sent. Vicky - best of luck with the C-Diff. My sis had that and it is NASTY! There lots of things that can be done and one of them doesn't sound too pleasant.
Today our weather is WONDERFUL! Sunshine, blue sky, no snow in our forecast until tomorrow and then only about an inch. Temp is currently 21 but I have been outside in sleeves twice. Feels like SPRING!! Our temps are actually going to get above freezing for the first time in weeks. (Our normal temps for this time of year are usually close to 40.)

Re: Thursday, February 13
Good snowy afternoon from SW. Pa....What our weatherman said would be a dusting is now close to 4 inches...And they'll come on later and said, just as they predicted?????
Jim went down to help with the elderly bingo but they only had 4 ladies show up so they cancelled it...It's just darn right nasty out there....And it was turning nasty inside this morning...Last week it was our oven but buddy, Ted, came and fixed it..This morning, wanted to warm up a cinnamon roll and no microwave...After checking all the plugs etc., I told Jim to get that sucker in the garbage before Ted found out or he'd be up here trying to fix that...Who knows, when we'll get out to get a new one but do you know how many times you go to that "box" to heat something up?????
Then I was trying out a new cake recipe and what a mess...It called for a tube pan and would you believe, it leaked out all over the oven..Not sure if I'll be sending Ted a piece of birthday cake or not...Of course Jim thinks it's good but then, like Mikey, he eats everything.....
Vicky, always good to check with the doctor....Like so many here, meds can really do a number on you...That nasty bug got hold and just doesn't want to leave you....
Karlene, we, too, have had those greens and golds in our carpets...And you're right, they are coming back...If you see Ted, don't tell him about my micro......
Kathy, I can just imagine the aroma coming from your kitchen if you're baking bread...Jim would be standing by the oven ready to slice off the heel and cover it with butter....Heck, just thinking about it puts inches on the hips.....
Chriss, Jim seems to be doing fine, although there are times I'd like to bop him a good one! But, then Ted's wife, Donna, told me the same thing...Must be hubbies in general...But, he is anxious to get me out of here and I'm not sure if there might be a party or 2 planned or what might be happening....I'm to leave on Sunday but yesterday, he said, maybe I could get a train, earlier......But, my friend, Gin, in Florida almost guarantees warmer weather and NO SNOW...It's been in the 80s and sunny..
I haven't talked to the kids in N.C. but I have a feeling they're not having school....Down there they call school if WE get snow up here....
Well, as much as I'd like to stay and chat to each of you, my dirty kitchen is calling....
You all have a great day,
stay warm, stay safe.........
Almost forgot, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANA

Re: Thursday, February 13
Good afternoon everyone. Let's see if this will post.
First my prayers are with all of those in the bad weather, those with sorrow in their hearts, and those who have suffered loss.
Now because I usually come here with not so good news I would first like to say that Myles is scheduled for surgery feb. 25. On the downside his blood work shows he is back down at 24 ( not exactly sure what that means). The iron is bad, so once they get surgery over they will start working on the blood. We are a very emimic family .
I had the most beautiful experience yesterday. We went to visit a client and while the male client was doing his papers I noticed some wonderful yo yo pieces. Oh my gosh this darling little lady has made yo yo quilts almost all her life. She opened her cedar chest and shared all her treasures. Yikes, I was touching them and everything. Then she gave me a quick lesson on how or make them. The only thing is she didn't tell me what size the circle was. It looked to be about 5 to 6 inches. It was such a beautiful time for me and she does seem so lonely. She said blue was her favorite so today I packed her up some blue fabrics, a card for valentines day and a cooy of the wonderful Christmas quilt blessing I was sent for Christmas. I just thought for once I would share so etching beautiful. Thanks for letting me go on and on.
Prayers and positive thoughts going out to all I. Need
Grammiequilts travel safely
Karhyquilts yiu be careful shoveling, and enjoy the cocoa.
Pink is still THE color.

Chrissy Your event reminds me of Jennifer Chiavereni novel.
Ishigram- As a graduated electrical industrial student, may I share my wealthy knowledge RE: microwave.. Before, through away, knowing you rather not go out in this weather, to have your hubby check the lightbulb inside micro.. That sometimes could save it.. Just saying.
Cindy- Tonight is our 30th guild anniversary, free cake/coffee, a slow go walking/transit in new 10cm fallen fresh snow, looking forward going. A 10min taxi home if need be, but the air do me good..
Kitten so mischievous today, my sewing was interrupted. Since yester been sewing 3stradas of 1.5 inch strips tog. to recut 1.5 inch forming a nine-patch and slicing with belly button Xblock ruler. Curious what it would give with all my scraps. lots of tiny pieces. Never worked with so small bits..
