Karlene, we had some rain yesterday, but not the monsoon kind. Mostly just thunder and lightening.

Re: Friday July 12,2013
As usual, the day I plan never happens… Today was the usual yard work plus laundry. DH had some errands in town, so I picked gladiolus, zinnias and a stem of Asiatic lilies and filled a 5 gallon bucket with them. The colors were straight from a Kaffe Facett quilt in reds, pinks, deep lavenders, a spot of orange… a gorgeous palette!!! I got them all arranged in vases before Mom got up from her after lunch nap. She was delighted when she saw them on the table! I labeled a quilt for her and then vacuumed the carpets. We got to visit a little bit, then DH was back from his errands. Now he is out mowing hay, and I have been finishing laundry, dishes and floors in here. We are going to the 4H fair this evening to see several of the grandkids show their pigs. That is so funny! Tomorrow we go see Kamri show her bucket calf.
We are at 97 and an index of 102—about 8 degrees higher than the forecast! I knew it was hotter ‘n you-know-where! I feel sorry for all the animals and people at the fair!!! The pigs will be slow this evening. When it’s cooler, they have a lot more unpredictable action and that’s when it’s super funny! Herding pigs around the show ring is very similar to herding cats except they weigh a lot more!!!
Someday I plan to sew! I have to finish some “Can you do this for me?” projects and work on the calendar swap. Chriss did an amazing job of breaking down my resistance and twisting my arms—both of them!!!
Lois—when my grands visit, we stop at the store on the way home and stock up on foods they will eat. When the visit is over, all the left-over stash goes home with them… Everyone is happy.
Tina—I hear you with the drought!!! I’d love to make a waterfall for our pond! First we need to get the dam fixed!
Mary-Rosebud—thanks for the paint selection tips! I’ve been happy with the colors I’ve selected this time.
Pat—Let’s keep our fingers crossed for rain!!! Hope your hand heals quickly!!!
Izzy—too funny about the dance!!!
O’Dorothy—Right now a perfect day for me would be one with rain!!! I have my first perfect tomato in sight!!! We had corn last night, and it was amazing!!! The first perfect ears are such a treat—we forget over the winter how good it is!!! It would be a sin to cover beautiful old oak, but I think red with khaki (oak) is wonderful!!!
Jana—I hate it when W-M here only carries something as a trial and next time I go back… nothing! Good for you for stocking up!!! Good luck with the FIL legal stuff!!!
Cindy—best wishes to Vicki as she transitions into her “new” normal… It’s definitely not a simple matter… And to you and Don, too!!!
Kathy—welcome home!!! Hope you made it to the store for groceries! Did you happen to stop at the LQS, too, for some therapy for you???
Vicky—was today Caleb’s exam? I’m sure he scored high!!! I can’t imagine the diaper inserts would be difficult, either. She must be using cloth diapers. I think they potty train much earlier with them than with the disposable ones. My DD had cloth, and she trained extra early.
Karlene—we had to have a contractor move the basement walls on MIL’s house before we could sell it. Not a cheap repair!!! I’ll bet the renters in it do not keep the plates wrenched to keep the walls pulling out…
Chriss—love the basement story!!! Bet they thought he was crazy for wanting the dirt!!! Crazy like a fox!!!
MaryZ—hum… Enchiladas sound yummy! Guess I’m ready for dinner!
Judi—what a lovely temperature!!! We won’t see even high 60’s for a couple of months unless the weather is unusual! Would have enjoyed the speaker last night! Did you get some tips for Annabelle? I eat mostly vegetarian in summer, too! Of course, a BLT with “extras” is also quite delicious!
Suzette—sure wish I could relieve you of some of that rain!!!
Guess I should get something prepped for supper so we can rush off to the fair (about 20 miles from here)…
Have a great evening!
