As many as you want. You can use up scraps or new fabric. Whatever works for you.

if we keep a set for ourselves...and put 12 different squares (6 dk and 6 med)in each of 6 pkgs that will be a total of 72 squares(84 w the ones we keep for ourselves). we would be sending out 80(total) otherwise. just my opinion. what does everyone else think? we surely dont have to include 12 in each. we could do less. but i myself have enough for more than 4 different colors in each baggie. marcia (nur5e)

I haven't cut mine yet so need to know how many I have to put in each bag. 12 each in 6 bags sounds ok to me. Just let me know soon so I can get them cut and mailed.

Thank you everybody for wanting to do this anyway regardless of the number involved. I am excited to see the variety of fabrics that we all have. Should make a pretty quilt.

Lori, I already cut my 5 inch squares. I have 20 bags of four different fabrics in each bag.But all my bags have the same 4 fabrics. If we lower the number of bags the people who get mine will only get more of the same 4 fabrics. Is this ok???

Susie, I don't mind if some of the fabrics are the same. I haven't cut mine yet so not sure how many of a variety I will come up with but know I have more than 4. I will see how many I come up with after I get them cut, hopefully this weekend.

If we did a star pattern like Lori did, we could make each star point the same color and the rest of the quilt scrappy. So many uses for 5" sqs and the thought that they are already cut impresses me. I am getting really excited over this swap no matter how many or few folks do it. Just nice to have a few diff fabrics to choose from the ones I already have.

The first bag of charms arrived. I won't be able to get the Charms out by the 1st, because I'll be in San Diego at a 911 convention. I will be able to get them out the following week. Lori
