Re: May 2008 8 inch Charm Square Swap: Floral - Homeward Bound!
Good Morning!
I hope you join us Sarah!
Okay, small to medium flowers - If you make the Summer Porch quilt, the 8" charms will be cut on the diagonal. If the flowers are too large all you will get is some petals. Think about looking at it and thinking, will I still be able to make out the flowers if it's cut into triangles? If you think you can, then the flower is small enough. It's mainly a judgment call on your part.
As for the fabric - 3 different fabrics. We will have 20 small bags (like sandwich bags) and put 3 different 8" charms in each one. That way we all will get 60 charms back and quite a variety.
I'm not limiting the swap to 20 people. The more the merrier. I'm just limiting how much we send so we can start planning ahead.
Make it nice fabric - It's almost time for National Quilt Day - the third Saturday of March and the quilt stores will be having sales. The fabric frenzy at QIAD has nice fabric at a great price. But try your local quilt store on March 15th. We have one store here that has a sale room and I can get quality quilt fabric at $3 - $4 a yard sometimes. I collect Thimbleberries and I stock up on that! You have until the middle of May to send it to me, so look for sales - it's an excuse for shopping!
You will need about a yard for each fabric - 20 8" charms requires 32" by 40" of fabric. I like to buy extra to keep for myself.
Please feel free to ask questions. I'll try to answer them as best as possible.

Sarah - May 15th is your birthday! Got any plans to celebrate?
Remember, because of the postage increase, if you have trouble mailing before May 15th, you can wait until May 15th to mail to me. Don't forget to tell the post office that the return mail won't be until after the price increase.
Wow, look how fast the list is filling up!

A question was just brought up about the quality of the fabric.
If it's nice fabric, would you mind Joann's or Hancocks or Hobby Lobby?
I for one would rather you didn't buy Wal-Mart fabric.
What's your opinion?
