DJ, I was thinking that there will be an extra set of blocks (minus Sunbonnet Sue, of course-- and I agree with Jan that we could all make out own Sues). Does anyone here do the Quilts of Valor? I would be glad to donate my extra block to make one-- the colors would be perfect.

Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone else might be interested... Whatever everyone wants to do is fine with me... :-)

I'm SO excited to see all the blocks! This was a QUICK swap for me! ;-)

Thanks again for organizing it, DJ! I really do appreciate all the time and energy you put into hostessing these swaps!

I think that's what they're called... My Aunt is in the local guild and they have been making patriotic quilts that are sent to wounded soldiers in Iraq. There is a lady in the guild who does the quilting for free. They just bring the quilt tops, batting and backing. The local news did a story on them. I believe that guilds all over the nation are doing this... I *think* I'm right on this... Has anyone else ever heard of it?

There's a website that gives all the info. I think someone posted it in projects from the heart.

Well everyone - I hate to call it, but I still haven't heard from Christine (Quilto). I know some of you are anxiously waiting to put this quilt together so I don't want to hold you up. So I think it's only fair to swap these out since the orginal deadline was June 30, then extended to July 7 and it is now 3 weeks later. So I will swap these out this evening and drop into the mail tomorrow. Thank you all for participating. I know you are going to love your blocks when you receive them.

As far as the extra blocks, I think it would be a good idea to give to a solider. Walter Reed here in Washington DC also collects quilts for the injured soldiers. Let me know what the group would like to do before I mail back the blocks.

I think the extra blocks would be great for a soldier quilt...

Cheers!

I'm fine with whatever you all decide on the extra blocks.

I'm fine with donating the extra blocks. What better way to use them than making a quilt for a wounded soldier...God Bless them!!!
