GP, I know you have posted this before, but I am having an episode of cranial flatus and have forgotten...

What's the deadline for your receiving the "socks"?

Carole, I don't know that she posted a deadline - but after I get back from this weekend's trip, I'll get cracking on the stockings....

And - I PROMISE to post pictures!

I took pics today at work of the latest batches of stockings I've received. I'll try to get them posted tomorrow. The pics do not do them justice, you wouldn't believe how cute these are! I think Nov. 10th would be a good deadline for receiving the stockings.

Are you willing to share the pattern? I'd like to help the troops!

I took pics of all the latest stockings I've received since posting the last set of pics, got up to the cabin and DH was trying to post them for me Sat. p.m. and couldn't. I don't remember why it wouldn't work, computer or e-mail mumbo jumbo, my mind turned off to it when he started explaining it to me, all I know is we have to wait until we get back home to get the pics posted now. Sorry, I really wanted ya'll to get to see them this weekend! We'll get it done tomorrow, I hope. Anyway, they are the cutest things you've ever seen!!!

gramma, we can use all the help we can get, thanks! The pattern is the free one on the front page of this site, and we're resizing it for the finished stockings to measure approx. 14" x 17". Or, the pattern is in the Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch book, too. I don't remember the enlargement %, so maybe someone on here can help you with that.

I think it was 200%. Maryg got this for us.

Just measured:
* 7 in. across the top,
* 14 in from top to heel,
* 9 in from top to curved ankle area and
* 12 in. across from toe to heel.

This is the finished size. When cutting out I add 2 in. to the pattern so it is easier to catch all layers in the seam.

Have Fun,

Hi GP and all!
I have been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now. I've made stockings for the troops, but they are smaller ones and I didn't do the strips. My friend's son is deployed and we are sending them to his unit.
If you still need another person to sew stockings, I too would like to join in with you!
This pattern is not new to me, as I have been making these since Eleanor first introduced them a way back when! :-) I have a template and fabric in a large bin. I can just pull it out and see what I have. Probably have a few stockings in there too. I will make as many as I can before Nov.
So how about it? May I join?

We would love to have you working with us. There are quite a few of us working on them but could always use more. This is a very rewarding project, as you already know from sending them out previously.

I'm not doing the strips this time either. The Christmas fabric is nice enough for the whole stocking. Just doing simple quilting (diamond shapes) or whatever the fabric calls for to tack the fabric to the batting.
Have Fun,
