This year again we are meeting interesting, creative people from afar, coming in the stores for the Row x Row patterns, kits, and license plates.  One person had been to 16 states since June 21 and she does not quilt!  She was gathering for her sister.  Of course, we enjoy seeing all of your more local folks, too.

I copied this from a LQS newsletter in Las Cruces.
16 states for her sister! Wow!

Congrats to Yoli! Very nice quilt, and sometimes you just gotta hurry!
I have 4 so far, and am planning a few more days out. My cousin also picked up the only one in her area for me. It is cute, and it included a tiny little nine patch to include in the row.

Thanks again everyone. I just want to say something about this whole experience. It's my first year doing this and I had been having a good time picking up these patterns. I didn't buy fabric and things at every shop but i did buy the license plate even if they didn't have this year's plate, to show support. I mean, i'm getting a free pattern, seems the right thing to do. Anyhow, the last place i picked up one, the lady was the rudest person i have met. i asked her for the row pattern and the license plate she tried offering me everything to buy to include the kitchen sink. when i told her i only wanted the license plate (which she didn't even have this year's) her entire demeanor changed and Lord forgive me but i think she even grunted as an answer to my compliment on the row. and believe me, im not exaggerating, she didn't even hand me my card back. she sort of threw it on the counter. i got back in my car and vowed to stop picking up more patterns and license plates. all the fun i was having is negated by this one shop. which is a pitty. i took my vacation at this time to be able to participate, and now i have a whole extra week and nothing to do and too late to plan anything else. so this is my 1st and last year. and im done collecting.

so izzy, im sorry, but all i have collected is all you'll be getting. i was hoping to have more to share but im pretty much done. if you can put the address where you want them sent, i can get them sent to you without further delay.

yvtsis - How wonderful for you that you WON!!!! What a wonderful uilt you made. LOVELY indeed.
I am so sorry that this one shop was so rude to you. Please don't let one person ruin it for you. There are so many truely wonderful shop owners that will make this experience a happy one and erase the negative one. Personally I would have put her in her place before I left and then tell her to "Have a nice Day" :) We have a shop like that and very rarely do I ever go back. People don't realize that a bad comment by a person to other people can ruin there business. They need to stay positive.
Again CONGRATULATIONS on a Brilliant Quilt.
Here are the ones I have picked up or have been picked up for me by friends in there travels
Bolts in the Bathtub - Lancaster, CA CA

A Stitch of Country - Fernley, NEVADA

We are off to Arizona on the 20th and will be stopping at shops along the way. I also have family in IA, PA, MA, FL, NC and many friends in high places!! ENJOY!!!!

Yoli--don't let one rude shop owner ruin your vacation! We had a shop like that here--you never knew how you would be treated. She's no longer in business. Quilters quit going there to be mistreated even if it was the only shop in the area. I hope you keep checking out the shops and finding jewels not stones!!!

There's the saying "Time wounds all heels!"

Happy quilting!!!

thank you ladies, i did let her ruin this for me. i only had 7 more shops to pick up a row from. but after that, the gas, traffic, and distance just was not worth it for me. i did go to some great shops (like the one i won at)and i found some great fabrics and a couple of them even handed me some free patterns/blocks from their block of the month sew-alongs. i did have a great time until that moment so i am glad i did it. everytime i see that shop's row though, i get disappointed all over again. it will go away eventually. i collected 32 of them though, so you all might get one that you wanted. so all is good ladies. i was just writting out my frustration. :)

Yoli, you had 31 good experiences and 1 bad experience? Hooray! Those are pretty good odds. Please don't discard the positive by absorbing the negative! Perhaps that person was having a bad day, had just received bad news, or had a nasty customer just before you and was still reacting to that. Let it go. Life is short.
