So, Carole, how is YOUR DJ coming along? I've got mine packed in the trailer. She's getting ready for a long winter in the sunshine! Hopefully my plan doesn't turn into just taking my fabrics for a vacation! lol!

Carole, glad your interest has been revived. Mine has, too. At least to the point that I selected more fabrics and go my project all organized and packed for travel. We won't have our feet set down long enough to do any sewing though until well into November.

How are all our other Janiacs doing? I wonder what the real Jane would think if she could see us all now. If she could, I'd sure have a couple of questions for her!!!

well, while on my quilt retreat with joan/'mainelyme'... i explained to her that i had halted my 'DJ' due to other things but also because i was 'sew' excited about starting it that i forgot to prewash all my fabrics... i'm using batiks!!!

gasp!! horror!! shock!!!!!!!

yup, i know... silly silly me!!!!
so, i need to go away, wash the blocks iv'e already done in 'retain' and WASH MY BATIKS TOO!!!
then, i will carry on lol...

i'm looking forwards to starting them again, as i've relly missed my 'DJ's'...

there are a lot of WIPs i'm dieing to get back to... i'm not content to stick to just one, i HAVE to have a few on the go at any one time :)

i'm looking forwards to seeing any pics you post of yours, as you get them done!

happy dear jane-ing ladies!!!!!

I hope to get back to do my dear jane blocks on a weekly basis. To keep up with the bom, i need to do 3 per week. but i would be satisfied with 2 per week with all that i am teaching myself to do with the dear janes, which is my first hand applique, the first tiny foundation piecing, etc. I have 9 blocks done and I am proud of each and everyone of my blocks. They are not perfect; but I learned something from each.

Now, tell me this--do you really have to prewash the fabric? mine is not batiks but reproduction civil war fabrics.

well done on your first 9!! i have all the ones i've done pinned on my design wall and love to look at them :)
there is a real sense on pride with DJ blocks, isn't there? i'm glad i'm not alone there lol...
:D
i washed my batiks the other day in 'retayne' (or however it's spelled) i just have to iron it all now... (3 boxes worth, sob!!)
i washed it all basically because batiks tend to 'bleed' a lot when wet, and the background fabric i'm using is white... (i may wish to wash the quilt in the future, or someone else in future generations!!!!)
you should be ok hopefully... pre-washing fabrics tends to be a personal decision...

i hope to start picking up on mine again soon!!!
