Hi
I have several UFO's. I finally am getting back to doing some sewing and pulled out my projects from the closet. I had started a paper piecing small quilt/wall hanging. I have a book of 365 squares. I picked out one from each month and it is the birthstone. So I call it the Birthstone Quilt. I had 6 done and in the last two days finished the other 6. Squared them up and now trying to figure out the rest of it. I am going to print on fabric the name of each block so that will take some time. Then I'll put it all together.
I have a bow tie quilt I need to get back to. My mom had given me squares that a friend sent her. They are really old. The fabric is 40's or maybe even 30's. This lady had hand sewn some of the blocks. I tried that, but I'm more of a machine person. All the pieces were cut so I just have to get going on putting them together.
I won't bore you with other things, but if I can get these two done in the next couple of months I'll be a happy quilter!

Cindyg, I got hold of a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser...will try it on those blasted marks this weekend. I also got some Dial liquid hand soap; I remembered when the girls were little, it did a GREAT job on nasty stains, even bad poop stains came right out.
The quest continues...SHEEEEEESH!

finished my quilt with mitered corner binding using El's method and we used it on our bed last night. It was so cozy and warm and DH loved it. I will try and get a picture taken this weekend and post it in the photo section. Now on to the next one.

Kathy, those old block pieces sound real interesting. Did you say it was a bow tie pattern?

sunsup, yes a bowtie. It is really old. Here is a pic. As you can see it will take me a long time to finish this. I will machine stitch the pieces left. The ones the lady did were stitched by hand. I think she did not have a machine. Also the tempelte was made from a piece of cardboard and she just cut around it. I had a time squaring up the ones that were done. They squared up at 8 inches so finished will be 7.5. It will be fun to do. My mom has the lady's name so when I make the label I'll put it on. I think she has past away. That's how mom came to get some of the pieces was the family giving them away.
Have a happy sewing and quilting day!
Kathy

I think it's great that you're finishing this project (bowtie quilt). I'd be sad if after I died all my fabric was just thrown out. It's good karma to finish what she started and the quilt be be beautiful. I love those 70's colors.

Hi LynnS
I live in Florida too.
70's colors! Hmmmm I thought they were older than that. I just saw the patterns and colors and thought of the 30's and 40's. You know you may be right, after all 70's was 30 years ago! OMG....how time goes by!
