Our Walmart remodled and made the fabric department a lot smaller but they still have it I hope it isn't going away cause I pick up little things there all the time.

I bought a thread counter at Hobby Lobby and I went and bought another one to have in my purse, never know when I'll find a fabric sale.

I found a lot of Moda at WalMart. You have to read the bolt end to find it, it's mixed in with the quilt fabrics by color. WalMart here sells Warm and Natural batting by the yard too. It all depends on what the fabric dept. manager orders from the warehouse and the feedback they get from the fabric dept. clerks. We have one WalMart close by that will rival any LQS because the clerks in the fabric dept are all quilters and avid sewers. Their dept. makes a profit so they have been given the okay to keep the fabric dept. for at least two more years. It's a shame the WalMart exes dismissed the fabric dept as non profit making when all it would take is someone with a little knowledge of what to buy.

The Wal-Mart here in Oak Ridge,Tn has already completely closed It is real depressing. Even the other ones in the area have already closed their fabric department. Such a sad time. I always enjoyed pickig up a few pieces of fabric every time I shopped.

Thanks for telling me which one, I got some great Spongebob fabric to make something for my son. The Wal-Mart on Quanna Parker doesn't have their fabric on sale. I wonder if they're going to keep the fabric there for a while.

I just went to Walmart today in Memphis TN and all of their fabric was 50% off. They didnt have too much left, so I went a little crazy. To put it this way, I had 2 ladies cutting for me and it took them 1 1/2 hours. But, now I dont have to buy any fabric for at least 2 months. It is sad though. Walmart carries some cute fabrics.

I think its just one more thing that old Sam would not have done if he were still here.We are getting a new walmart in CarthageTn. A super center, one of the smallest.Walmart built a super in the small town where I lived up north and 2 yrs. later wished they had built it bigger, but by then, they couldnt buy any more land.So I imagine it will also happen here.I talked the fabric lady and she isnt sure whats going to happen to the fabric, saying after she had told many that the fabric would be discontinued, she got word that its possible that the fabric may also be making the move. We'll know in March.Happy quilting.

What are you going to use that Walmart fabric for? Charity quilts? To me, Walmart fabric is like a chicken liver...yucky. I guess for charity quilts or pet beds, it might be Ok. El's sale fabircs are better quality and cheap, too. There are several websites that have TOL fabric for $4 yard. But, to each his/her own. Amie
