I use Bottom Line exclusively for machine quilting. The SuperBob's are on cardborad so there's no noise and everything is very smooth.

Re: Pre-wound Bobbins
I haven't tried them...I wind all my own bobbins and keep a good supply ready ...I may try some of the pre-wound bobbins soon though. Sounds like a time saver....may get the "side winder" tool/notion.

Re: Pre-wound Bobbins
So does it say someplace on my bobbin what size it is or do I have to look it up in the "big book of everything" that came with the machine?

Re: Pre-wound Bobbins
Is your new machine an embroidery machine?
I use prewound bobbins in my embroidery machines. It is 60 wt. 100% Polyester. I love the Nib prewound and never have any trouble with them. I can get them in black, white and colors.
I would never use this wt. for quilting. For quilting I wind my own in 30 wt. 100% cotton. If you know where I can get prewound bobbins in 30 wt. thread, please let me know.
For piecing and general sewing I use Duel Duty All Purpose thread and wind my own bobbins. I think it is 40 wt.

Re: Pre-wound Bobbins
LittleBit, thanks for the link. That helps tremendously. Glanced through the book, but couldn't find anything that said L or what, just what their stock number is (of course).
Geneva, it is a Babylock Ellure, sewing/embroidery combo.
Ordered a set of I think 24 for only about $6 to see if they would work. Figured if they were not correct, $6 is not TOO terribly much to be throwing away (depending on which day of the pay period I'm looking at, LOL).

You are going to love that machine. I have an Ellageo. I'm glad you got one that will embroider a 5x7 design. Have you gotten into finding designs on the internet yet? You'll love that too.

Re: Pre-wound Bobbins
I also use prewound bobbins, however, I only use them for machine embroidery. I was told they are not as strong as regular thread and would not held up to washing in sewing seams on garments, quilts, etc. I also purchased the Side Winder because to wind bobbins and I love it. Just make sure to puch the bobbin all the way down on the spindle or you will have a mess. Thread goes everywhere!!! and it doesn't wind on the bobbin properly, so you must take it all off and start again.

Geneva, thank you...no, haven't had a chance to pull designs from internet. I only have internet access at work and don't have a card to download the stuff yet, anyway. Mainly still trying to get used to the machine and figure out the stuff that is already on there before adding to it.
