Bobbiejean. . . .please post a picture of your quilt. This is such a good way of making use of all the jeans that only have holes in the knees and great usable fabric everywhere else.
I may have to move this project up and at least try it with a few pairs of jeans. Just make some lap quilt sizes.

Hi bobbiejean,
I did get your message and I wrote back to you. Did you see it? I was wondering what a turn quilt is. Check your message section too since I don't even remember what my other question was!

Oh and post a picture if you have one please I'd love to see it. Or I can try to post for you if you want to send it to me.

Yesterday while waiting for my friend to arrive for shopping spree for stocking stuffers for our nieces, I tried the circle/sqare block out of 5 in charms for the center and just grabbed some flannel that was on the cutting table for the circles. It made up like a flip and sew pattern as the back is done at the same time. Next time I will make up a little free motion sandwich of the 5 in square and maybe do a little motif before I put them in the circle. It needs a little batting because it came out very flat without it. When I sew the crescents down next time I'll use either invisible or complimentary thread as the crescent design shows up on the back. I only spent a half hour and was really just doodling but I'm going to give it a more careful try with some of my charms. I can see where it could have a good possibility of showcaseing some needle work or a nice theme fabric for the center squares.

Ok, I will contact my son and ask him to send me a pic of the quilt, it may take a day or two for him to respond.

I'd bet that the quilt weighs a lot, might lose a pound or two putting that around your shoulders and walking! LOL

Wow. The one I hope to make will be about half that size. I don't understand the basket weave part. But it looks neat. The cat looks comfy too.

Ok I found some bright red plaid fabric that I really think will look good with the denim, especially mixed in with some blue and yellow flannel. BUT...it's 100% acrylic. It was in JoAnns in the Suitings section, on sale for $5 a yard. I bought 1 yard. I think I can add a stabilizer to the back of it and give it a little more body to work with it better. It looks so nice and has a 1950's-cabin-woodsy-ish look to it that I had to get some. Am I headed for disaster if I mix this with denim and flannel???

I made a queen size denim/flannel quilt for GD. No batting , does get very very heavy.
Just cut a block , 10" is best less seams to clip. 10" each of denim/flannel and sew corner to corner ( the X) only then able to sew into rolls. Clip some of the seams as you go once sewn to save hand cramps.

Your mentioning denim and flannel brought up a warm reminder of my childhood. I don't know if I ever wore jeans when I was a kid--I am 65 now, but my mother would never buy my brother jeans for my brother, unless they were lined in flannel. Even tho we lived in Sacramento, it was chilly in the winter.
It would have been the same for me, but I wore dresses unless it was a doozy of cold.
Gee, this has really brought up some wonderful memories. I was blessed to have wonderful, caring, Christian parents.
