rotary cutters

I just bought the martelli ergo rotary cutter and love it. I alternate using it with my gray fiskars one. Never liked those straight-handled ones either.

OH! I have a Martelli and I absolutely love it! It fits right in my hand and I won't go back to the Olfas.

How long should a blade stay razor sharp? It seems like mine are always dull, except for the first few times out of the package.

I generally use can cut the fabric for a queen size quilt without having to replace it. Sometimes more. I do have better luck using the green Olfa mats. I've got a couple gray mats and they seem to dull my blades. I try not to cut batting with my new blades, and flannel is tougher on the blades than basic cotton.
