SusieQ, the free pattern can be found on the front page of the QIAD website. It's on the right side of the page, go down to the Hands All Around quilt block and click on it, and the Strip Stocking is there to print out and then you can enlarge it on a copier if you want. Hope this helps. While you're there, check out the other nice free patterns, too!

I'm going to the lumber store and have them make it from plexiglas! That way I can rotary cut around the plexi and not use markers!!! LOL!!!

Everyone who got the newsletter knows and GP knows - but I've pledged 50 stockings.

GP, do you want us to put postcards in each stocking?

I think I have some people at work that want to contribute stuffers, is that ok to send to you also??

Let me know!

I have a dumb question. If we used the pattern from the website, don't we need to make the stocking bigger? When I put that pattern next to the one from my book it is much smaller. Am I doing something wrong?

CindyB you can rotary cut around a template made from Masonite too.

CindyB, postcards included with the stockings would be wonderful! And yes, absolutely if anyone wants to include stuffers, that will be great, too! grammy, if you use the free pattern on here, you'll have to enlarge it quite a bit. The reason I changed to the larger size that's in Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch, 17"x14", is because I'd made some of the smaller size and it was difficult to get the stuffers in and didn't hold as much. Some of the items we're stuffing them with are bulky and we need the extra space. If anyone has already made the smaller size, send them it's fine, I'm still going to use the smaller ones I've already made, but will be making the rest the larger size. Use any fabric you want that will make them look Christmasy and cute, doesn't matter if it's red and green or not, Christmas fabrics have become pretty contemporary now and so let's mix it up and have fun with it. Just NO RELIGIOUS fabric, I've been told there's a problem with that and we want to make sure these stockings all get delivered to the troops.

Plexiglas for the templates would be my first choice, but my DH is being butt-headed and insisting the masonite he has in the garage will work just fine, so...I told him to go with it and I'd cut around whatever he came up with. I've learned to choose my battles, and just go with it! LOL! Anything, at this point, is going to beat tracing around a pattern or plastic template and cutting out with scissors! LOL!

Grammy65. . . .

GP probably sent a personal message, but just in case, she would like the bigger one from the book "Christmas at Bear Paws Ranch" because she wants to stuff them. The smaller ones didn't hold too much and she and her husband want to fill them up with goodies for our troops.

For those of you that don't have the book for the pattern
here are the measurements:

9 inches wide across the top.

14 1/2 inches from top to the bottom of the heel.

14 inches from the heel to the toe.

8 inches from the top to the beginning of the toe (ankle area).

Possibly download the fee pattern from this QIAD and then draw it bigger.

BUT. . . I know she would probably love to get any size.

SusieQ. . . maybe you could post a picture of the "COOL TIES" with directions. Maybe we could get a few of those sent to GP also.

This is such a rewarding (warm and fuzzy) project.

GP what percentage are you enlarging the pattern? If everyone uses about the same size, it would be too cool!
