Yo yos can be use as if they are four sided or six sided and you can place them in the same shapes you would use a hexegon for example the basket pattern that a hexagon would make or the diamond or grandmas garden. you can use them for flowers or to make a hair bow (several arranged in design)or a collar pin let your imagination go wild.

Lornadoone,
Are you a totally new person to the forum or have you been lurking for awhile? In either case, welcome to the group. You will find us friendly and helpful, for the most part, as long as you stay away from sewglad. She can turn on you in the blink of an eye. I should know, she's been turning on me for the past #&$*%&b years.

You all will be proud of me........yesterday at the lqs I bought the small yo-yo thing, but I haven't used it yet. I plan on it tonight after dh goes to bed. . . . I need some peace and quiet even though this is not suppose to be rocket science! LOL!!!

Tiggersmom, I am anxious to hear what you think of them. I haven't had enough sense nor calm time, to open mine and even look at them.

I tried the 'small' yo yo and I like it alot.
Also, the 'flower' yo yo. Has anyone tried that one? I'm confused about the center. Any advice?

Cathy, I was SSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO proud of myself, ""I YO-YO'd""!!!! and it was Fun with a capital 'F'!!! I've only made one so far but have the fabric cut out for several more.
I need to change my thread color to match the fabric as I was using burgendy fabric and off white thread.....duhhh, but you can hardly see the thread. I do need to practice in scrunching up the gathers so they are more even. It only took maybe 2 minutes to make a yo yo!!
You will have a ball.
I'm more likely to make a yo yo Christmas garland than a quilt.....but who knows I might surprise myself. I absolutely can see these as petals or a decoration on a border of a quilt though!!!

Well now I am anxious to try it. LOL I need another project or two to start like I need a dozen toddlers. LOL I have been daydreaming about decorating denim jumpers & jackets for the 2 yr old twin DGD's for Fall & Winter. And sweatshirts. However, I think a garland made with them would be ideal too. There is just NOT enough time in each day. Nor energy. So happy that you enjoyed yo-yo'ing. It seems like a great "take along in the car" type project.

I want to get a garland done for our tree. I hope to get started on it by the end of the month.

Re: I did it! I yoyo-ed.
I did some yo yo's for a quilt block for a friend and then I thought........ OH! how yo's for my flannel quilt that some unkind person said was 'so plain' [that remark was like hearing fingernails on a blackboard.....grrrrrrrr] so what if I made yo's out of flannel???!!!???
Have any of you made them out of anything besides cotton? If so what did you think???

I have been bringing my yo-yo makers to our quilting group that meets every week....you wouldn't believe the pictures some of the gals are cutting out of catalogs and magazines where the yo-yo's have been made into pillows, lap quilts etc.....they evidently think I need ideas for what to do with them if I ever get enough!! lol
