CHICKIE - Brrr!! Kansas really goes from one extreme to the other! Have a super day with your family. I know you will enjoy every minute. Especially sewing with Natasha for a few days. It's funny that your mom 'chased you out' so she could get back to her sewing.

JUDI - you have a HUGE family! You bring to mind that song of our era - "Gonna Have a party tonite". I think it was the Eagles that sang it. When do you start picking up the Twenty-seven Totes of Christmas?

Good Morning Girls

What a difference a day makes.. Yesterday we got up to 47 ABOVE zero and it felt like spring.. Today the temp is 3 BELOW with windchills at 17 BELOW! Guess who is staying in all day today!

Yesterday I went down to Auntie's apartment and helped clean out the last of her stuff. Brought home a box of genealogy papers she had, her jewelry box full of pins and clip on earrings and some of her little knick-knacks. When I was a little girl I remember her wearing two gold bands--they were my grandmother's and great grandmother's wedding bands... My sister gave them to me so now I am wearing them.
Got to go out to lunch with my sis and 2 of my brothers--so great to see them! Stopped at a Hancock fabrics on the way home and picked up from solids for the January Lotto.

Today will be chore day I think... after a few more cups of coffee. I'm just not sure where to start...Will wait until New Years Day to take the tree and décor down. Can't decide which room to clean first--maybe the sewing room?

Judi... sounds like you will have a small army at your gathering today! But it sure sounds like a lot of fun.... especially meeting new relatives from Texas.

Kathy...Safe travels and I hope you have a great time with Kim!

Maryz... what a great idea for the formal dresses. I still have Jen's prom dresses here and her wedding dress! Once Jen and Michael have a house I'll send it to her and she can store it! I could cut up the prom dresses and make doll clothes out of them--if I was that nice/clever a Nana!

Chickie.... How old is you DGD? Don't you love it when they bring something to you for help? Family days are the best!

Becca... I'm with you, I love decorating, but I hate taking it all down! Every year I do less and less. I'm getting anxious to put things back to normal around here.

Vicky... don't worry about the house... enjoy the fellowship of the people who come to worship with you. This is the Day the Lord has made! Rejoice!

Suzette.. a Carpenters Star in batiks sounds absolutely stunning. Quite an ambitious project from what I've seen of Carpenters Star! Nothing something I would attempt! Can't wait to see what you do with it! Thanks for the heads up on the Rose Bowl parade. Will have to turn it on while I clean up on Wednesday.

Tina... Hope your Dr. agrees to a biopsy!! Always good to get a second opinion! 95% sure ... I'd sure want to be 100% sure! Will definitely keep you in thoughts and prayers too!

Teresa... just love the name they chose --Aria so pretty. I bet you are anxious to smother her with kisses!

Chriss... I'll meet you at Judi's... nobody will ever know we don't belong there! We can be the crazy aunts nobody ever talks about! We could just grab a plate of food and sit in the corner and giggle--they'll think we're just the 2 demented aunties!

Well, girls, If I'm ever going to get anything done I better get butt up and start moving. Hoping I can motivate room mate to clean up a little today.. She did NOTHING all day yesterday while I was gone. And one of the cats threw up on my living carpet AGAIN! Color me NOT HAPPY! I'm so looking forward to having my house back!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Good afternoon ladies,
Sharona - I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt.
Theresa and Jacquie - Congratulations on the new grandbabies!

As with all of you, this has been a busy week for me up until Fri. and yesterday when I have finally been able to relax and lounge around. I came across a pile of the Elm Creek novels, so I have been reading through them. It has been good to rediscover the pleasure of reading.

We had a good Christmas and Auntie Beth made sure that little Harley had frequent outfit changes so she got to wear 4 or 5 Christmas ensembles. I took a suggestion from several of you and did finger foods on Christmas eve in place of a large meal, and that seemed to work for everyone and I sure enjoyed myself more! With both of the girls working in retail, the holiday meals have been up to me, and I am not a gifted cook who can just put together fabulous meals - I really have to work at it!

At the Christmas eve service, a friend's two sons came, and as boys they were painfully shy, so I was so surprised to see what confidant and personable young men they have become. One has started communicating with Elizabeth, and she is having a hard time believing that this is the same boy who used to hide under the table!

The football games are getting ready to start, and even though we've been in NY state for over a decade, we are still Bronco fans. As a girl, I used to get to go to the Bronco games with my dad once my brother made it clear that he did not like football.

Have a wonderful day,
Karlene

HI again Girls

I'm back for just a moment... came up to hide in my office so I can SCREAM without being heard!

I've done a little clean up upstairs and then went down to sew for a bit.

Room mate is still in BED and it's after 1:00pm here! How can a person lay in bed ALL THE DARN DAY! It's driving me nuts! Her bedroom is piled high with dirty clothes, the family room area is full of her stuff and SHE LAYS IN BED! AAARRRGHHH

Sorry I had to rant...

Am waiting for the next spur of energy to hit me so I can do some needed dusting and vacuuming. Calls for more coffee.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day!

later: 2:50pm... she's up and I hear activity downstairs... one can only hope she's actually DOING SOMETHING

Mary - I think you should go downstairs and scream where you CAN be heard! Maybe your roomie thinks everyone lives like she does and doesn't realize her slobbiness has reached its limit. Did you ever give her a move-out-by date? I think it's time. Believe me, she will land on her feet somewhere. I hope you charged her a non-refundable deposit.

Just a quick stop in and noticed Mary's rant. I don't blame you for being mad. I don't know the situation how she came to be with you, but I would try to get her to move if I were you. It sounds like it is getting so stressful for you and that is not good for your mental and physical health. Feel free to rant to us anytime you need too. I will keep you in my prayers.

Well, not doing much today. I took down my outside manger people yesterday because the weather was so nice. I usually leave them up until after New Year's but the weather here is going to go "down the drain" starting this evening. I figured I had better get it done while I could get out there without freezing too bad and getting my asthma to "kick up". I will take down the inside decorations on New Year's Day while I watch the Rose Parade like I usually do.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Christmas and are starting to get back to normal. I went to Sauder Village to the Quilt Shop on Friday
for their end of year sale. I bought 2 pieces of Amish panels and a pattern for a hex shape coaster that I thought would make a cute gift. Just what I need more projects. LOL

Well, better go get something done. Hope you all keep warm. That is what I am doing - staying inside and sewing.

Oh by the way Pepper my beagle is feeling much better this week. She is getting her appetite back finally for those of you who have asked about her.

Sherry

MaryQ - It is so hard to have a room mate and a lazy one at that. During all the fuss with the child custody going on a couple of years ago DD1 let a friend and 2 kids move in. I kept telling her it would not work out and sure enough she had to insist that she find a place and move. She moved in with her father which she should have done to begin with.

I for one could never stand for someone to still be in bed at 1pm, nor could I tolerate someone else's cat throwing up on my carpet. You have such a good heart and there are people (Hmmm you point and I will whistle)who will just take advantage. You really have to give her a date to move out or she will just keep putting it off. With all that dirty laundry, her room has got to start smelling. Put your foot down and do it soon, so you can get your life and house back in order.

Sending you lots and lots of love and hugs. GET HER OUT OF THERE!! LOL

Carole

Good Afternoon Everyone!

This morning it was Mass, Breakfast and finish the soup. I soaked the beans overnight and put them on simmer while we went to Church so the beans were ready after breakfast for some vegetables, ham and herbs. BIL is leaving today and arrived for a last couple of hour visit before leaving for the airport. We ate soup and talk so now he and my DH are out for a walk. All is well here. I am finally basting the quilt I want to finish.
