Good Morning, You know babies come at their own sweet time. Vicky I was tired all the time too. Had my blood checked and found I was low on a lot of nutrients(this was years ago)...I started taking B complex and it helps with energy. If you don't do Drs. Go to a Nutritionist. My DDIl goes and she put her on suppliments that helped her energy levels too. My Dson in law goes too and he was put on a high protien diet with lower carbs, He is doing well too. You shouldn't be that tired all the time.
Well today my sis and her hub and our camping friends are coming over to help Ken put new decals on our camper. We will do hambergers on the grill and various sides. it is always good to get together with folks and have some good food.
Well other than working on the hexie quilt I got the backing pieced and ironed the top pieced and iron and the batting cut for the quilt and ran out of steam. Listened to the Red Wings on the radio..(felt very old fashioned) I might be over doing it a little....Dr warned me but do I listen,,,,,,,NO. So I won't do too much today,,,,will let my friend do it all...she yells at me anyway LOL so I call her MOM.
Hope there is a baby today,,,,sure might be a boy they tend to be stubborn.
Hope you all have a great day,,,,XXXOOO

Good Morning Girls
Another beautiful day here in MN. Clear sky, cool temp, a slight breeze! I LOVE IT. Got a few chores done yesterday.... washed inside upstairs windows and outside on the deck, mowed the lawn, sewed a few Calendar blocks and snuck in a nap! Today I'm going into work for a little bit, then stopping on the way home at Joann and the grocery store. Then home to sew the last 4 Calendar blocks so they can make it to the PO tomorrow. Where did the month go!?
Chriss.. Would love to see a picture of your son getting dunked! Dunking him would sure be great pay-back! Can't wait to see my babies! I took a week vacation from work so I can stay home and smooch them all. Unfortunately Michael isn't able to come home this time.
Jules....Sorry you had to go into A & E--that must be like our Emergency Rooms? Hope you are feeling better in no time. Fortunately I never had a MIL---she passed away a year before we got married, but I asked DEX once if we would have gotten along.. He said NO, she wouldn't have liked anybody he chose! I know it must be hurtful, but like you said it's her loss... and that is sad.
Vicky.... I sure hope today is THE day for Tia... how great that you can be with her. I wanted to be there for Jen so badly when Elijah was born, but babies do like to come on their own time and he was a week early! I've heard that a ride on the back of a motor cycle can bring on labor too! Know anybody with a Harley?
Maryz... sounds like Scottie is pretty happy in his new home. Last night I went to a co-workers house for a bonfire... I almost stole their black lab puppy. Gosh he was so darn cute! I want to sneak him into my car! Don't think he would get along with the room mates cats tho! How is your back and leg doing? Can you still put the pedal to the medal on your sewing machine?
Suzette.... YEAH the quilt is DONE! Isn't it a great feeling to finish something.. It doesn't happen to me very often, but it sure feels good!
Kathy.... Yup it's hard to get some GET UP AND GO when it's dreary and rainy... might be a good day to curl up in your new chair with a good book!
Lois... Hope your ankle is healing up nicely. How long do you have to have the cast/boot thingee on?
Judi... you take it easy! Isn't amazing how you can feel SO GOOD, get up and do something and then bam, you're pooped out! Two thing the dr told me after my hyster.... no sex for 6 weeks and I couldn't mow my lawn until the next spring. I was more upset about not being able to mow the lawn!
Izzy... I'm right there with you girl friend on cleaning up the sewing room! I try to clean between projects, but I have ADD when it comes to cleaning and sewing and have a zillion projects going on at the same time! I'm already plotting my next big project--2 baby girl quilts for my nephew and his wife that are having twin girls in January. Thinking I'll make El's Twin Sisters quilt pattern!
Well girls I better get a move-on. Get to work and get some reports printed out. Need to go finish up my grocery list and my Joann list, find all the coupons I can find. Then home to sew!
Have a wonderful day every one

Morning everyone. Today I am staying home from church. I woke up with a crummy tummy, so will stay home and just relax.
Tina-You did a wonderful job on your Jamestown quilt. It is beautiful. Where did you get your pattern?
Carole-Happy birthday!
I heard the washer stop, better go put clothes in dryer so I don't have to rewash them. Then to lay back down for a bit and see if I can get my tummy to settle down.
Blessings...

)
Chriss, Happy son dunking!
)
Kathy, I missed what color chair you got. Enjoy it

)
GrammieQ, yep you better rest up today, it's so easy to over do things and of course you don't know it till it's too late.
Maryq, only 4 more, you can do it! I'll be your cheerleader! Hip Hip Horay!
)
MaryR, I hope your tummy troubles go away quick. So sorry you are feeling bad. (((((HUGS)))))
Well I started on DD Peacock quilt and I'm kinda upset.....the measurements they tell you to cut are way off! I'm glad I didn't cut ALL the fabric 1st but have really been going back and recutting a bunch, thank goodness the 1 that's the worst DD had extra of. I'm hoping no more unsewing on this one. I'll post a pic when I get the 1st block done, it's a King size quilt but it only has 4 blocks plus a border so the "blocks" are huge! LOL
I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.
Tina

Re: Sunday September 22,2013
Good afternoon all! Not much going on today. I won't get much sewing done. I have uglies to do, and there is lots of football, golf and NASCAR on so I probably will cross-stitch while I watch them. I have found that if I quilt while I am watching sports I usually "screw something up" and have to tear it out. I took the easy way out for supper and put Swiss steak in the crockpot for supper, and I will make some potatoes and cornbread to go with it. When it comes to cooking if it is easy I am all for it.
Lois - Hope you feel better soon. I wish I could think of something to help your boredom. I go through my quilting magazines and put the patterns I want to save in ring binders (different ones for each type) and then I pass the mags on to a friend of mine. If I saved all of my mags I would really have a lot of junk. I buy mags like I buy fabric - too much. LOL
Tina - Love the pictures of your quilt. I really like the colors. You did a great job. Hope you feel better soon. I know what you mean about cutting quilt pieces. I learned it the hard way.
Mary/Rosebud - Hope you feel better soon also.
Maryq - Sounds like you had a very busy day yesterday. You are very ambitious. Pass some of that my way please.
Judi - Take it easy. It is very easy to overdo and then pay for it the next day. You have earned some rest.
Jules - Hope you feel better soon with your asthma. Rest and relax. Sorry to hear about Charley being ignored by her Grandmother. I can't imagine doing that to my Grandsons. In fact I tell everyone the Grandsons come first and everyone else is second even DH. LOL The bad thing is since their dad is in the military I don't get to see them very much in person. They are going to Okinawa for 3 years in October. Thank God for Skype!!!
Maryz - Sounds like Scottie is getting along just fine. Puppies sure love to chew.
Vicky - Babies come when they want, but I know how the waiting gets to be nerve racking. Tell her we are all waiting.
Suzette - So many quilts! How do you do it?
Well, better go get some lunch. Have a good day all and prayers for all of you.
Sherry

Re: Sunday September 22,2013
Good afternoon from sunny but slightly chilly, gorgeous Sw. Pa....I think we're in for a real treat as the trees keep changing.....
We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast with our friends and really, really enjoyed our morning..Couldn't ask for a better way to start the day or the week....Later we'll be going to Kevin's for cards, munchies and good fun....
The Pirates just came on and it's getting so exciting...The "magic number" is down to 4 and they'll be in the playoffs...We haven't had a winning season for many, many years...And then tonight the Steelers are playing....Just one game after the other...And after yesterday's Notre Dame game, no black arm bands in this house.....
Chriss, I'd love to be there when you dunk your son...Sometimes revenge is sweet isn't it? You had asked about our circus yesterday and that's just what it was.....
When the fellows arrived, they came in carrying a cooler!..When I spotted that, I nicely said, if there's anything in there except water, take it right back to the car....Then it was getting closer to show time and no bride or girls...Wedding was to start at 2:00, they came at 20 after and then they had to do the veil, make sure makeup was Ok...Father was pacing in the back room....I got them all lined up and in and the little ones were perfect little soldiers...As the ceremony went on, the couple didn't light the unity candle and kind of added little things on their own...Afterwards during pictures, being so many, they were really making a lot of noise and Father came back in and more or less told them to keep it down, remember where you are! It took them longer to get all the pictures taken than it did for the ceremony...I was so glad to see them get in the bus and leave...I have another one in 2 weeks and if it's anything like this one, I'm hitting the bottle.....
Tina, I loved, loved the quilt...The colors are perfect, excellent job!
Maryz, sounds like you're going to have a good day but too bad your company won't be coming....What fun that little one must be...Boy the differences between puppies and kittens, I sure can't get these cats to chase me...Well, I shouldn't say that, on rare occasions, Baby Girl will scoot out the door and she'll have Jim chasing and she just keeps far enough ahead that he can't catch her..Through the yard, up the tree, up and down the front steps and then all at once, she's on the porch ready to come back in and Jim is usually out of breath...I must admit, these furbabies are good entertainment.....
Vicky, so sorry to hear you're just not to snuff...Maybe you do need some iron or whatever..You could be lacking in something or it could be you're just worried about Tia and keeping it inside...It's hard when our "kids" are uncomfortable.....
Well, I think it's time for me to get my shoes on and head for Kevin's.....

Re: Sunday September 22,2013
A quick “drive by”… today is a gorgeous late summer day. I was out helping DH with hauling and stacking some wood he saved when cleaning up some trees in the pastures. We don’t burn it any more, but it’s here for anyone who needs it.
I had a nice visit with Mom yesterday. She has a list of things she’s made in the last couple of months, and it’s unbelievable! I ran her vacuum for her, too. I had seen some “rat rods” going north when I was going to Mom’s and thought they might be going to a car show. The small town north was having a fall festival, so when I returned home DH and I went in search of a car show. No car show, but we visited their museum. DH’s mother’s family had homesteaded near there, and it was fun to look at things and I even “met” MIL’s Aunt Stella. When MIL was in the nursing home, she was always mistaking me for Stella. Her 1925 high school graduation picture showed a very pretty, perky, flirty young woman in flapper costume complete with marcelled hair. I’m not sure of the connection, but many times MIL thought I was Stella when I would visit her in the nursing home. Too funny! It was neat to get to see her.
Tina—your quilt is beautiful!!! Love the colors. You’ve done a beautiful job!!!
Tess—thanks!!! I’d never seen that blog, but I have the apple cake in the oven as I type. It smells divine! That woman gives our own Judi a run for her money with the dehydration!!!
Need to run… Have a great rest of the day!!!
P.S. The cake is delicious--moist and flavorful and not too sweet! Before it was even out of the oven, DH said to start another one and add dried cranberries. Wouldn't that be yummy!

Re: Sunday September 22,2013
Afternoon ladies,
Just popping in to say hello. Boy, it is breezy, wet, and coolish here today. DH had all the windows open when I got up and boy, was it "cool" in the house....down to 64*. He, of course, was upstairs in his 'man cave' with DGS watching a movie. It was nice and warm up there. I know 64* is not too cold, but when it is inside the house it somehow feels colder! LOL
I am so in the mood to make a pot of chili. Only problem is, someone needs to make a grocery run. By someone, I mean DH! We'll see what happens.
Haven't done a thing this weekend except for a bit of laundry and snuggling with DGS. I sure do love that little guy. I believe the magic might be over....he asked DH if Santa was really real. This is probably the last Christmas where he believes....sigh....
Jules, I hope you are feeling better. Too sad about DH's mum. I know what you mean about those kinds of grandmothers. I had one. My mother's mother. Until I was old enough to work it out, I thought she was an aunt. I always thought of her (when I thought of her) as "Aunt Lola". I was probably seven or eight before I realized that since she was my mother's mother, that made her my grandmother. I must say that the thought horrified me. My daddy's mother was "Nanny" and she was just about the greatest thing in this whole world. To think that "Aunt Lola" was the "same" as Nanny, relation-wise, was incomprehensible to me. Lola did not treat all of her grandkids this way. My mother's sister's kids, or at least one of them, was a different story. She doted on her. Aunt Marie had five kids, but in Lola's eyes, there was only one. Really too sad. As a grandmother myself, I can't even begin to imagine treating a grandchild that way. Oh well, Charley is better off without that kind of negativity. Glad you don't have to suffer through too many visits with her.
I am thinking about rendering some lard and tallow. Anyone here ever done any? I will use some of it (if I ever get it done!) in soap as well as cooking. It may take me a year to ever actually do it, but I will get around to it! LOL
Well, guess I better close for now. I will go see if I can get DH to run to the store...my tastebuds are set on chili and I don't believe anything else will do. Wish me luck.
Hugs,
Mel

Okay, I just went over and checked out the site that Tess was talking about...the Hickory Holler Farm blog....wow, this lady is amazing. I want to be her when I grow up! LOL
I posted the apple pie recipe over in the recipe thread....sounds delish.
Check out her quilts...they are awesome and she hand-quilts all of her quilts.
