Good morning, good morning!
Welcome Gabriele! It's good to hear your getting some rain there in NM; I know we have Tina and Mary who are also in NM and are praying for rain.
We are still in the HHH days here. Being from Denver, I'm not sure why, but I love the smell of the air in the morning on a humid day. I guess it brings back memories of visiting my grandparents in Iowa when I was growing up.
My rhubarb-peach sauce is almost gone, but I sure have enjoyed it. I'm not sure why David dislikes it so much.
I'm almost done with my graduation pillows - just need stuffing for the last ones.
Maryz - your friends that visited with the shelties - are those the dogs that you dog-sat for and they would follow you all through the house?
Kathy - This is from a girl who grew up landlocked - what is a lobster role? Victoria said she' craving lobster with her pregnancy - nothing like expensive cravings!
Chriss - did you get Marilyn's paint? I bet she is excited! Enchiladas, that sounds so good. I have not had Mexican food in a long time.
Had to take and drop David's car off this morning for inspection and saw an amish buggy - that is the first one I've seen in our area; and a fawn - they are so small and darling with their spots.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Karlene

Caleb thinks he did well on the test. We will not get results for 3 to 4 weeks.... I can't stand it. He's ok with that now that it is just over! He is back working today. He was so up tight over the test and the poison ivy he didn't work after last Monday, he just couldn't.
I have my whole house closed up, windows and curtains closed and fans on. It will be a LOT cooler in here when I come home now. Then when (if) it cools down later we open everything back up.
Time to throw in laundry and then get going. My MIL needs me to do her hair. She is planning on going out with friends for lunch today. We will see if she goes. She doesn't do well with all this heat/fan/air conditioning either.

Good Hot Morning!!
We are in 'heat wave', for us. I know it much hotter in many places.
My #1 priority today is call SS for an appointment. Then I'll be starting the binding for my thank you quilt. I'd love to get that in the mail by the end of the week. Had a nice visit with my sister & I'm thinking of taking her out to lunch or dinner for her Birthday next week.
Lois...have a fast & smooth work day so you can get home to those grands.
Mel.....Well, that was good unfortunate luck to be furloughed on the same day. Have fun with DGS!
Mary/Rosebud....I agree...where did the year go? The end of next month I'll be in MA for a year. How many 'melons' do you have to make?
Vicky.....sorry you didn't sleep well. It sure can affect your day. Is there any chance you can get a room A/C? I ties a ribbon on the fan pull in my bedroom as it over the bed & difficult to reach.
Judi.....sounds like you had a wonderful unexpected time last night.
Have a wonderful class.
Maryz....that's a very early appt! But so good to get it out of the way. Have a good time with 'Stitch'!
Chriss...I agree it is fun & funny when children call for cooking advice. Hoping for a good appt for you {& mary).
Gabriele.....Happy Monday to you, too! WELCOME!!! Stop in every day we would love to visit with you. What are you working on??
Mary....I'm happy to hear you had a good time for you final trip to the cabin. It must have been difficult to pack up all those things. My DD1 has white & peach Fiestaware.
Suzette...I often think of Wyatt & Patrick. I'll be keeping them in my prayers.
Love & Prayers.............Kathy

Re: Monday July 15,2013
Good morning, All! Yesterday turned out to be a FULL day! My DD and family arrived around 1:00 p.m. She, DGD and I went to the anniversary celebration—about 45 miles from here. The guys went out to hay. When we returned, they had finished hauling hay and were getting cedar logs from the timber and putting them on the trailer for DSIL to take home. DS called and told us if we wanted to get sweet corn where to go pick it. The four of us grabbed my shopping totes and laundry baskets and went to pick. We had a car trunk full plus a bag between DD and I in the back seat! We came back and all of us, including the kids, shucked corn, trimmed it and packed it in bags for the freezer. We ended up with 32 one gallon bags of corn-on-the-cobs plus a huge kettle that I cooked for dinner. We had salad, cube steaks and lots of sweet corn on the cob for our meal. The salad contained tomatoes and carrots from our garden—perfect summer fare!!! It was late when the kids left for home, and it took them longer than the normal hour to drive because of the trailer with the heavy load of logs. Poor DSIL as he had to be to work at 6:00 a.m.! I know he was VERY late for his usual bedtime! DGS has two-a-day soccer for the high school and had to be there at seven, DD to work at eight. It was still a perfect day!!! Our DSIL really enjoyed himself—he had been wanting to help with haying since I’d gotten married.
DH and I went to bed around midnight. About 4:00 a.m., the dogs started barking and carrying on. Sounded like they were trying to defend us from something big and bad. DH couldn’t see anything. We went back to bed, and just when we were settling back into slumber… the barking and snarling started again. Still we couldn’t see anything. Then DH said, “I left the other pasture gate open, and the cows are probably getting out.” He went back to sleep. Well, that did it for me… I couldn’t sleep! All I could think of was what the cows would do to my flowers! So, I got up and threw on some clothes, grabbed a spotlight and started outside. DH followed, and we rode the 4-wheeler around looking for what had cause the commotion with the dogs… And, we closed the gate! Thankfully, we found no damage—apparently the dogs had frightened the cows back to where they belonged… I was so tired when we got back that I ended up falling asleep again and finally work up late. I had been really tired last night, so guess I needed it.
Once again we saw our rain chances dwindle from 30% to nothing. We have the same percentage this afternoon. Will we get a good shower? THAT is the question everyone here wants to know! The field corn is thirsty and needs rain to make the crop!
I’m going to come back later and try to read more and answer… Meanwhile, have a super day!!! I must find more coffee!

Good morning!
It is beautiful here in the mountain west - cloudy and we are slightly cooler.
Today is my Monday babysitting later in the day. Stu is playing with Ethan - so I might go and get them in a little while.
We still need to go and get some shims for the cabinet - Stu can help with that - but Michael will be working all day - so we will see how and what or when it gets done.
We are moving FIL here - near us - there is a very nice Assisted living facility about 15 minutes from the house - we are hoping that they have room for him. We still need to get paperwork from FIL - the trust papers and the will and the pre-nup from the second wife - it is a tangled mess. SIL in California, we think has those papers, but she has to find them - uggh!
I am hoping to sew today - need to get some blocks completed and curtains for downstairs made.
Have a great day
Hugs
Jana

We are leaving NJ/PA this morning. Sigh. Sad to leave my kid and Gkds behind. Off to Gettysburg for a couple of days sight seeing. Where did my month with my kids go? it went too fast.

Good late morning from sunny, summery, SW. Pa....Yep, it's hot, once again...I finally broke down and turned on the AC, much to the furbabies dismay....They like to lay in front of the open screened windows and imagine catching those elusive birds.....
IWe really have nothing on the schedule for today, no laundry, no big uglies, just an easy, peasie day......I am thinking of opening up the machine in the basement and work on my summer porch quilt...Either that or get out my book.....I love these lazy, summer days......
Chriss, Vacation??? when did this come about???? Yep, we go to the same place every Sunday, sit in the same spot and have the same waitress and most of the time, get the same thing, every week...They don't take reservations but they know, we'll be there and they keep our spot open....It's kind of funny, after Shirley passed, our waitress, Shelly, would pretend she was coming on to Jim, calling him stud muffin and other names and he'd get the biggest smile...Then he started bringing his lady friend and Shelly told him he was two timing...He's quite a gentleman, one of the best......
Maryz, I don't know if I'd trust any doctor that early in the AM, lol....But, knowing you, that's not early...It's nice that you'll have the rest of the day to do whatever......
Mel, sorry about the furloughs but that's happening a lot, it seems...Hope you have a good day at Joanne's and they welcome you with open arms.....
Vicky, When you finally understand "the male population", let us all know....In our house, I've gotten extra long pulls and that seems to solve the problem, well not all of them, lol.....Hope you feel better soon.....
Well, gotta run....The old fellow seems to think it's lunch time....Also, the furbabies are starting to circle so I guess they want fed....There are time when I think I'm running a buffet......
You all have a great day................

Hi There..............
I have the binding on the quilt now the hand sewing. And it's going very slow & it's not the heat & humidity. The backing/binding fabric has lot's of sizing in it. I never wash my fabric before I start a project. A mistake for this one.
That's all that's happening except I had PB&J & club soda for lunch. Big, big day!!!
