Quilt in a Day Forums

I wish all of you could have been with me to meet this woman who told me she had quilted for years and only used a 5/8" seam! She said she could not use todays patterns because of it and that she only buys 4 yard pieces. She came over to me to ask what in the world would I ever use these scraps for(I was getting FQ's> I have sewn for over 50 years and never heard of this. I do not even use 5/8" seams often when garmet making and believe me, I've made everything from underware including bras to ball gowns and men s suits. I really did nnot know what to say except that she should get a 1/4" foot...kept looking for a camera and a jokester for a bit after that!

I forgot to mention . I was a bit hesitant when I first bought F Q's...but soon got over it. Still, my stash has plenty of fabric left overs from years gone by and it is as if they are an entry point for memories that are sometimes hard to cut into. But these multi purchases of fat quarters are very interesting. Still, I did not know what to say to the woman.
