Hi Candice,
Have you considered using the Log Cabin pattern for your Steelers quilt? You can use all black on one side (darks), gold on the other side (Lights) and white for the center square and first border. Try the "Fields & Furrows" layout for a striking effect!

That is a good idea, Linda. I am considering using the lover's knot pattern, but I will look at the "fields and furrows" before I commit. I used the "sevens" pattern for a quilt I pieced for my son, who loves math. It turned out nicely. Thanks.

Re: Steeler Fan Quilter
Well, Ladies, I found most of the fabrics I will use. I decided on the "lovers knot" pattern (I'm using Elenor's book of the same name.).
When I was vacationing in the UP of Michigan, I visited two quilt shops, and I purchased the first fabric in Marquette. It's a rich gold with short brush strokes of black--perfect. My next purchase occurred in a shop close to home--a lighter gold. The black became the problem; but through perseverance and the internet, I found and ordered the black with gold flowers fabric. My next challenge will be to find a buttery yellow; then, I am setting aside a weekend to construct the top. Of course, stopping to watch the fabulous STEELERS.
Enjoy the Fall, everyone!

Candice6, Hi, I used to live in Cambridge Springs, we now have a camper set up in Waterford year round at Lake LeBoeuf. I love to go there, especially to shop at the quilt shops from Union City, Cambridge, and Erie. We love the Steelers, both of us were born and raised in Pittsburgh, now we live in Ohio and I am amazed at how many fans there are here. Please post a photo of your finished quilt, also gave me an idea for a gift for my hubby. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!
