Cathy, you can order Sulky from QIAD, or from Keepsake Quilting. It is easier finding it in a local store, though...maybe the fabric dept. at a WalMart, or at Hobby Lobby? Wonder if Michael's carries it?

Wal Mart does not carry Sulky thread. Hobby Lobby, Joannes, maybe Michaels or your LQS. I bet the Crazy 9 patch in Ramona carries it.....My favorite store to visit when I was out there. It's pricey but it lasts a long time.

I buy my Sulky at Joann's when they have the threads at 50% off. It is a little pricey (that's why I wait till it's on sale) but it's so much nicer to work with.

I took Valli Schiller class and used Superior. I really like it. We used it in the bobin also. You have to adjust the tension and then you are ready to go. Geri

just wandered how you can see the end of thread to color it with a marker i have a devil of a time threading it also glenda

Thanks so much for this thread about thread. I wanted to try some invisible thread but was afraid of the problems I had heard about. A clerk at my LQS said she uses it all the time. She said not to use it in the bobbin and you will have less trouble. She also said to loosen the tension. I haven't finished the table runner I want to use it on but I hope to get it done soon and take a try at invisible quilting thread. Special thanks on using the polyester instead of the nylon. What happens if someone irons this stuff? Does it ruin the stitching or what? Just wondering.

I have always used Wonder Invisible Thread made by YLI 100% Nylon most quilt shops carry it Floriani thread is also a good one and price about $3.50 a spool(I mean regular thread). Lots of colors I use invisible thread on top and set tension on 2 to 3 you have to do some samples to get what you want Also put you spool in a jar away from spool holder if you have a tall thread holder it still works better. As for threading I use the needle threaders in a pkg.GO LA quilters

I am using the sulky invisible thread right now... I was having a booger of a time with it... I tried everything... the things that finally worked were using my 8 spool thread rack and lowering the metal telescoping dohinky the thread feeds through on it and of all things raising my feed dogs back up... I have never free motioned with the dogs up but it worked like a charm... I read the tip somewhere on the internet and did not think it would work but it did... no birds nest or any broken thread beeps... I also was using normal thread in the bobbin... I have a Viking D1.

Oh and I did buy my sulky at Joanns while it was 40% off...
