I use flannel for the backing of baby quilts a lot. Don't have problems quilting it. Like many of the others I like the 505 basting spary. You should spray outside or a well ventilated room. But it is sticky and will stick to everything.
When I backed my first baby quilt I used the June Taylor spray and sprayed in the kitchen......LOL Well my floor was nice and slippery and sticky. DH was not happy with me.. That kind is awful smelly too. The 505 doesn't smell too bad.
I have never used the silcone for my table top to glide the fabric.

More great tips coming in...!
Janie, THANKS for the reminder about all the lint...my gals (the sewing machines!) Flossie and Sadie, will be happier with the more frequent clean-outs. The weather is warming up here, too, which means open windows, more dust coming in, and DOG HAIR...we have a Chow mix and she is trying to shed her winter coat...we put the hair stuck in the brush in the hedges outside for the birdies to use in their nests
Jeanne, I was fortunate that a friend told me about the 505 brand years ago. It's the only brand I have ever used...yep, it's smelly, but it works! I like the fact that it isn't slick when it dries, so if I get some on the floor there are no safety worries; plus it cleans up with warm soapy water and a gentle scrubbie pad. A great product all the way 'round, IMV.
