Bad Bad Quilt

Well, lets see this monstrosity! It is not as bad as it look to the person who made it, I can promise you ) One time(well, maybe more than once), I made the ugliest purple and orange quilt and then I tried to do some echo quilting and I'd only been quilting for about 4 weeks, lol! My daughter, who was about 7 at the time suggested that I cut it into rectangles and make rugs out of it. I DID! I put that non-skid contact paper stuff underneath them and WALA- GREAT rugs )

There was an ugly quilt contest on the web a few years ago and the winner won like $10,000. Amie

I have a couple that I call when good quilts go bad. It happens, don't fret. Just walk a way for a while, laugh a little and go back later. I agree that if it just doesn't work, give it to charity.

In your other post with the photos, you said that this was for your Mother. Maybe you could use the same fabric for a lap quilt.

The only great first quilts I have seen, were ones made by people who started with lessons, instead of learning on their own. (I have been learning on my own for a long time, from books, the internet, and the the occasional quilter I have met).

Oh Sandy,
I am so glad that you can't see my first quilt! It was a Log Cabin, which is a great starter pattern. But, the whole thing was off kilter. lol, I made it for my daughter and she loved it anyway. Don't worry about it, just keep going! Like wine, some things just get better with age! lol

I totally agree with the others we all have at least one of these quilts.Then like kadie said our family think they are great, and what are we talking about what mistakes? (I admit neither of my girls are sewers phew) they love them anyway

Trust me, you are not alone. I made a child quilt that had embroidery panels on it and quilting too. Everything looked ok until I put the top together - UGH!!!

I redid the whole thing, embroidery panels and all, and it turned out OK.
