I cut a lot of my pieces into 5" long strips. I figure I can either cut them into 2 1/2" strips later or cut into 5" charms if needed. The long wider strips are easier to deal with than a lot of littler pieces that tend to get lost.
We need to bring folks in to dig thru our scrap pile from time to time. They match up things in a way we hadn't thought about or dig out things we forgot about. And the excitement of sharing the digging with someone is a fun afternoon. You might be surprised at what you end up with. My neighbor loves to do that.

that is why I asked my friend and her daughter to come over to help, but she can't seem to "find the time". So, I'll keep turning my scrap pile over (you know, similar to my mulch pile out by the garden!).
