I keep certain fq's with a pattern if I have purchased it for that special pattern. That way, it reminds me to get it going and not randomly use it for a different quilt. The rest of the fq's are by color, and Christmas I keep separate. The floral fq's are all together. Many of these are put into landscape quilting for our ladies auction at church.

I start out sorting by color and by project but it usually ends up being a scrappy sort. I pull one fabric out of the blue stack and it may end up going on top of the green stack when I'm done with it. As long as it's neatly folded I'm fine with scrappy sorting.

I sort like Garden quilter.

I need to work on sorting mine better too. I do like Gardenquilter, somewhat, but need to do the sorting by colors too, a bit more. Still a hassle when having to go through it all, looking for something, &, the stash continues to grow, faster than I can do projects, lol, wonder why that is!

I sort by color and by project. I put all of fabrics for a project in one package and bag it; then other fabrics are put together for color and type for a potential projects; ie., fabrics that might be good for a leaf quilt - maple, oak, etc; 30's fabrics are kept together, etc for the scrappy look. All of this organization works to a point. At some point I look around and discover it is all a jumble and have to start all over again. Pat
