Hi and welcome! The rules differ according to what swap you want to be in. If you want to get started you can look at the 2008 swap list update or the black and white swap for examples. Each hostess makes their own rules.

Oasis- I did the exact same thing as you: separated the squares into piles of light, medium, and dark! But you did one 'better' than me...you got a snapshot of all the squares together! Great idea as a way to remember the fabrics received from a swap! (That is on my "to do list"- get a snapshot of these squares!)
