I've heard lots of people say they don't use pins. How do you not use pins? Seems like my fabric wants to do strange things when I'm trying to sew it without pins. So again, how do you do it without pinning??? Maybe I can learn that too.

I don't use a lot of pins except when paper piecing. the super fine, flexible pins are great and yes I sometimes run over them ;)

i sew by feel - many things will just lock together top and bottom actually if i pin i would get distortion

just realize hard to explain in words - will ponder on wording an come back

I rarely ever pin, I use El's method and the seams lock together and you can feel if they are matched up or not

It's not the sewing over the pins that is the problem. It is the one time you DON'T sew over it that is....

I don't pin much - just when I'm sewing long rows together or working with bias like on corner triangles. Y'all are right - when you are lining up seams and the seam allowances are going in opposite directions you don't need pins. I have to say though that since I started using 50 wt. Aurafil thread the seams are flatter and harder to nest together. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
