I have strips and squares galore and I have them sort of organized.
With the strips, anything less than 2 1/2" go into two baskets, one for darks and one for lights and mediums. These are for what I call string piecine.
The other strips are in plastic boxes labeled by width.
Squares are in plastic boxes and labeled by size.
I have very few what you call scraps because when small pieces are left of a fabric I cut it into either strips or some of both.
Recently a friend gave me several very small plastic wastebaskets and I am using those to toss the very short strips into and I sort as I toss by color.
Some of you may not want to go to this much trouble but since Scraps are my favorite type of quilts I like to have plenty on hand when I get a wild notion to start an quilt.
I'm one of the weird one who cannot sew if I'm not organized. Some of my friends think I shoud be put in "quilt jail" for being so strange.

Re: Scraps everywhere
I'll join you in jail Kay. I can't cook or sew if I don't feel organized, but I havn't been saving scraps. They go to guild for service quilts.

Re: Scraps everywhere
Seems like everyone is pretty organized. I like Kay try to be very organized. If I have a mess to deal with I won't sew and the scraps end up in the dumps. I was going to mention how my mom saves scraps but no need. IT IS THE SAME AS KAY! LOL. Mom is very organized and has everything in order in her sewing room. She and Kay are the same age so it must be that generation. Some of it did rub off onto me. LOL *:-)
I save them only because I do small paper piecing squares once in a while. I'm afraid if I toss a piece it will be just the color I need. I keep them by color on a shelf, but mind you I have a very small stash so the shelf works for now. I like the clear bin idea, so I'll pick up a couple small ones and that way my shelf won't look so cluttered.
Hugs, Kathy
