Morning!
I finished weeding and mulching blackberries on Saturday, just in time for rain to start drizzling. Last year was all about the roof, so poor berries were neglected. I only got 3 large ziploc bags, i usually get 5. I make jam and syrup ftom them. Last years berries still in freezer, will get them cooked down this week.
This week is catch up on house stuff, and maybe weed my very small tulip area.
Have a great week.

Good Monday to you all. I have laundry going and will make a trip to the store. Might make a Quessadilla for supper...Need to whip up some tortillas...and these will be beef, we had chicken yesterday,,,
I started purging more stuff...the sewing room closet and my sewing cabinet,,,Its been done before but everytime I do it I realize there is more stuff I will never use,,,I have a small stash of fabric to go through...I keep a project bag of scraps from each quilt i make...I alway think I will make a matching pillow or something from these scraps and I never do..so some of them will go
We got sad news yesterday a friend from many years ago passed away of a brain tumor he was 65 just retired and although we havent kept in touch all these years he was a sweet guy...while we hung out with our gang he was a single guy who just liked to hang with us...he got married and had 2 daughter s who are young teens now.. When He was with us on vacations and outings he alway made sure Colleen had shoulders to ride on when she was 5-6 yrs old. He was Uncle Dave to her, Another one of our group has gone to party in heaven. It looks like the year of the funerals....we have 2 to go to now...
Well I am off to do what I gotta do///hope your day is fun,,,,
Flo I so wish I could work in the yard like you do...I cannot kneel and have really gotten rid of all the areas that I used to garden...might put a couple of tomatoes and cukes and peppers in my small space this year. it is along the fence and easy to reach standing up...cukes grow on the fence and tomatoes get staked up to the fence too...

Good morning,

Today is going to be beautiful! 59* and sunny! A few months ago that would have seemed downright chilly, but today - it's summertime, Baby! I will finally get to those roses and rhodies. And my iris also need clipping.

TINA B - good to hear from you! That grand dog will keep you out walking and healthy! What kind of dog is it? And how is your DD doing?

FLO - Hope you get lots of berries this year. We usually get about five gallon ziplocks from the wild bushes on our property. Though some of those bushes aren't exactly on our property - some are on next door (Vicki's old place) which is a vacant lot now. But I think they will start building 8 big million dollar homes on it this summer, so there goes 2/3 of my berries.

CHRISS - Your dad probably thinks his playground in your garage is already organized with everything handy. Kind of like we keep our sewing rooms. Will be thinking of you today as you go through your MRI.

MARY Q - my Japanese Lanterns is only 10" x 25". It's a vertical wall hanging whether it's framed or not. I shopped everywhere in Gig Harbor for a frame or a small decorative rod to no avail, so we ordered a rod on line. I used to have a washer/dryer in the garage of our old house, 50 years ago. And at a Corps of Eng c.g. in TX people could get a permit to camp all winter season. We saw one tent that had washer/dryer outside. The sites had power and water so I guess it worked. Geese! I love them - ducks, too. But they are messy! A few cities around here hire dogs to chase them off the grassy areas. Snickers chased some once in a campground in Idaho (we were the only ones there) and we got in trouble from the ranger for "harassing the wildlife". Go figure. And I say, by all means, contact your former best man!! Life sends opportunities less and less often as the years go by. Don't miss this one! What's the worst that can happen? He doesn't answer? Go for it!!

JUDI - spring cleaning the bedroom! Ugh. Our room is tidy enough but Martha probably probably wouldn't call it truly CLEAN. When we recarpeted in 2019 we put our springs and mattress on the floor in the family room and slept there for a few nights. Don't you have a guest room? Is your son sleeping in it? I would oust him for the duration and let HIM sleep on an air mattress or the sofa bed. We also got some bad friend news yesterday - Really, they are more friends of friends, but we've group camped with them before. They were on a long winter trip to Texas. On the way home she wasn't feeling well, went to an ER, and they found Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She is maybe 70-ish. Her name is Fran if you have a spare prayer.

LORI - is your renovation starting today?

JANA - congrats on conquering that hymn! I haven't seen anything yet that you couldn't conquer!

LYN - oh no! I didn't know Cotton Cupboard had closed! I still had points there towards free fabric! There is Busy Bee QS on Anderson Mill Rd and Poppy's QS in Georgetown. I had to look up red tip shrubs. They are part of the Photinia family? My son has some of them along his back fence.

LOIS - I'm not getting nearly as much done around here as you might think. I'm just good at making it SOUND like I am!

So, yesterday I spent much of the morning running around town looking for something to hang Drew's wall hanging. Then I tried to use my serger but the poor thing seems to have died on me. Thank goodness I finished my pillow cases a few days ago before this happened. This current project was just shortening a pair of jammie pants for myself. So it's not only going into the shop, but is getting traded in on something else. After all, my birthday is coming up, right? This is a ~20-yr old Bernina serger. Even my Bernie dealer admitted their sergers don't have the reputation their regular machines do. I used to have a White, a much better machine, but gave it to my son's wife. I don't use a serger very often but when I want it, I want it. So, I'm collecting thoughts, experiences, opinions on sergers - brands? Ideas? Suggestions?. Whatcha got to share?

This morning I have chiro appt. And this afternoon I'll be outside in the yard. In between I will be trimming up 12" fall lotto blocks and maybe start putting them together. Yesterday Bill started quilting my owl baby quilt in a bubbles pattern. So I'll be binding that pretty soon.

Our pot roast last night turned out pretty tasty if I do say so myself. And I'm not a big fan of red meat. I followed an actual recipe! There's enough of everything to have it all again tonite.

Saying an extra prayer for Chriss today.

Good morning!

Looks to be a lovely day here in the mountain west. We've basically given up on snow here. Winter is over. In fact, the proverbial they have set a time frame, called meteorological winter and one for spring. Meteorological spring started on March 1st. So it's spring! Yay, right! 😀

PT, and grocery shopping are the plan for today. I put out my St Patrick's decorations . And when we get back, laundry.

Enjoy your day!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning All

Up, showered and dressed! Not bad for 10:00 am !  Ok I've been up for a while. Peeked in here, then went to shower etc. As usual, had to sneak down to the laundry room to find something clean to wear. Laundry is done, just need to put all back in the drawers!

Flo... Man you do a lot of yard work!! How is your back this morning after all that weeding and mulching? After the winter tho, I bet it feels good to be outside.

Judi....All your cleaning and purging just might motivate me to do the same. Somedays I think I am going to clean out odd stuff, and then I go down a rabbit hole of things--trying to decide what I'm ready to let go of and things I want to keep. I do find that I am emotionally attached to some things more than others. My neighbor that passed away a couple weeks, got me to thinking of what my kids will find in odd places around here if something should happen to me. I need to tag the special things so that they don't end up in a donation box or worse yet, the garbage. Sorry to hear of your friend, it's difficult to lose old friends, even tho we haven't been close.

Maryz... Glad you found what you need for Drews Wall hanging. Seeing what you did with that makes me really want to go grab my oriental fabrics!! But I best not start another project. I have a couple beautiful Oriental panels that Viv gave me years ago I'd love to do something with. I'm kind of stuck in limbo until I get my Janome back home. I've never had a serger, tho I have been tempted. Katie has one, so if I need something sergered, I'm sure she'd help me out. When the kids were little and I was wanting to make t-shirts etc, that's when I wished I'd had a serger. Both my Janome and Brother machines have an overlock stitch and if I use the right foot it's works pretty well. When I do the pillowcase I do french seams, but a serged seam would sure go faster!

Lois.... You are so right... no such thing as a "free ride" Even tho some politicians can't seem to grasp that concept. How is Bill feeling after his treatments? Does he feel better? I know so little about dialysis.

Jana... When it's clear and sunny here, it makes me want to open windows, then I remember it's still only about 43* here and a tad chilly for open windows! But spring is right around the corner and I'm sure looking forward to sitting on the patio with a good book and a glass of ice tea!!

Chriss...Will be thinking of you today as you head in for the MRI. Lots of prayers that all the results are good! Do you remember the old Time Life series of Books? I think my Dad had every series they came up with... most of them history, and he read every one. It was a challenge to find a home for them after he passed.

Tinab.... How long will you be in Virginia? Any neat quilt shops close by?

Lori,.... How is the remodel going?

Time for more coffee--liquid ambition to get something done today. A while ago I brought home some fleece to make mittens for the RSVP program I'm sort of in--Part of Americorp. So I think while I wait for my Janome to come home, I'll get mittens cut out and sewn. Better sooner than later as who is going to need fleece mittens in April or May!

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Maryz -

I have had se4veral sergers and the absolute best one is my new current serger - A Babylock Air Thread serger. No more fussing around threading the lower loopers. The thread is barely started in a tube, then push the button and a puff of air pushes the thread through all the looper eyes. It is absolutely wonderful! The top threads are really easy to thread. It sergers, and does the rolled hem too. Those are easy to adjust as well. Sarah had hers first and loves it too. Mine is about two years old and hers is around 15 years old and they purr just like a kitten!
