It's going to be a great day! I slept! Almost 6 hours, waking only twice. My best night in at least 2 months! Hooray!! I almost can't wait to get to the Y. Almost.
CHRISS - If those 'sideways' screws don't come out of the pantry/coat closet, I bet Dad can do it. He seems to be able to do anything. They can be little beasties. We have lighters all over our house. Only we call them matches. They work pretty well for lighting things. How long is that store going to give the other person to pick up that quilt panel? I hope you get it. Did you get your sewing room cleaned? And yes, I still have that cat pattern you gave me, but the books will be the focus of this quilt since it's for a library fund raiser. I just remember there is a pattern out there of books with cats sitting on them. (and cats do do that!). I thought it would be fun because I raised my children right - they are ALL cat lovers. Autumn has three. (Sunny, Alki, and Ninja).
LORI - when is your next dr appt? Have you told him/her that you can't sleep? Did I mention baking powder? Oh yes! Chickie's biscuits! Mmmm..... Bill still talks about them from when we visited there - gosh - must be about ten years ago. We camped in the pasture with about 40 head of cattle. Good thing I grew up with cattle and love them!
JUDI - I'm happy to hear that Val likes her new therapy and I pray it helps her. Happy birthday to your son! How was dinner last night? Did everyone show up? You know, as I read all the neat things about your B570, I realized I have all the same things on my B480 except a larger throat and the low bobbin alert. I have tons of decorative stitches and just realized a few months ago that I have a button on my machine I can use instead of the foot pedal. I tried it for fun. Would take some getting used to, but I could do it if I had to. So I probably don't need a new machine. Mine is only 7 yrs old.
MARY Q - maybe I will give leeks a try some day. I always think of them as an "add in" rather than a side dish. The calf pain is just about gone. Now it's my shin and ankle that ache in the evening and at night Chiropractors worked on that - held a pressure point at my knee, while I did an exercise with that leg. It really helped, but it's not completely gone yet. Did you get those little quilts finished yesterday? You've been doing some really cute ones! Purrfect size for laps. Glide thread is really nice and looks so pretty, too. We've used it in our longarm, but once Bill discovered Magnifico (by Superior) he won't go back to anything else. Our Nolting loves that thread, and it also gives a pretty sheen to the quilting.
JANA - I can't imagine driving in the fog you described. But pulling over isn't a great option either unless you have a parking lot to get into. Ooh, a new car in your future? I hate when Bill gets itchy for a new vehicle. Fortunately that only happens about every 12 years. I don't like car shopping, not do I like having to learn all the new gadgets, most of them useless to me. Glad to hear your little Enoch, aka Spike, is doing well. Almost all babies lose about 10% of their birthweight in the first few days, but usually gain it back quickly. Is he still on O2? Is he eating yet? Six pounds for an NICU baby is pretty big, so no wonder he gets the blue ribbon! My smallest baby I took care of was one pound even at birth, but went down to 11 ounces. He survived though! Praying Sarah is improving. Pneumonia can be very serious.
LYN - glad you've got El's Victory book. Maybe if we all work together we can remember that ribbon border is in there if one of us ever needs it. Your birds are really putting on a show for you. All we have right now are dinkly little brown birds. I don't know what they are. If I kept my feeder filled all the time, we'd probably have more. It's a great idea to take some photos in for Garry. As much for the staff as for him.
LOIS - I was wondering if you have that pattern of books with cats? Seems someone here bought it a few years ago. I was drooling over that pattern but I'd just bought Book Nook, so I didn't get it. If you have it, can you tell me the name of it?
VAL - if you are waiting on money from the government, don't hold your breath. Because of the 6 week shutdown last fall, it slowed them about 6 months - or at least that's the excuse they use. Lee still hasn't started receiving his retirement checks yet. His official retirement was 5 months ago. And we're still waiting on a refund from an amended tax return from last year.
Yesterday I walked a mile at the gym! A whole mile! Nine laps! Bill is still walking with me. Now, though, he's gently suggested I begin this Tues/Thurs exercise class. I went last Tues. I admit I need it - core and upper body and some hip. It's not too strenuous. But I only made it halfway through the class. I'll give it another go today. I HATE exercise classes! Just putting that out there. I was wearing a quilting tee shirt and immediately another quilter and her friend came over and introduced themselves to me. So that was fun. I'll see what today holds for me. I have my dino quilt all together. I'll add my outer borders today and prep my backing. I might have enough large batting scraps to piece together so I wont' have to open my new bolt of W&N. Then it's going across the hall to the quilting department. I got my sewing room cleaned up and Bill vac'd it for me. It was a MESS!
Our chicken rice soup was tasty last night. The thing with homemade soup is I don't know how to make small amounts. So we'll be eating this again tonite - and maybe tomorrow, too. Or I might freeze it.
Hoping we all have a good day!
