Good morning,
TINA - you sound busier and busier! Thanks for the wishes of encouragement. I'm needing that.
LORI - glad Jack is able to enjoy the park again! And super glad that a bookstore is doing well. I really mis ours.
VAL - I need to hop over to Photos and check out your quilt. I love Storm at Sea. I made one - or a variation - a few years ago using a pattern by Marie Noah called Orca at Sea. There is an breaching orca appliqued in the bottom corner of the quilt. Her pattern is simple piecing - no dies, no paper piecing. It's one of my favorite quilts. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1369864804 ... 1151008005 We belong to the Y and it's only 3 miles from our house. The indoor walking track is very nice with lots of lanes and walker wheels roll well. The Tacoma Mall is 15 miles away with toll bridge to get there, and too many people.
CHRISS - what did Dad work on yesterday. I think he's going to love his mug! What will you fill it with?
MARY Q - glad you are set for the storm. And has the storm happened as predicted? Did you get another project finished yesterday? Do you have your 'discard' tote handy so when you go through fabrics for projects and find some materials you know you'll never use you can dump it right into that tote.
JANA - Seahawks walked away with their game yesterday. So now we're casting our eyes towards S.F. We're coming for you!
FLO - are you in this big storm we are hearing about on our news?
JUDI - sounds like you are having some pretty good hand stitching weather! Brrr!!
Cutting this short - we're headed for the Y. I did two laps yesterday and last night had shin splints so bad I didn't sleep a wink! So maybe I'll keep it to just one lap today. In sewing news, I have my CW sections together and now only need to tack down the little flaps in the seam and then stitch the 'windows' - 15 of them. I also got a bit cut out for dinosaurs. Today - more of the same. Then friends, Tex & Annette are bringing pizzas over tonite. Then mentioned playing a game, so it might be dominoes.
Have a super day!

Morning
Maryz, storm missed us except temp dropped 50 degrees yesterday. We woke up it was 70 degrees and by bedtime it was in the low teens. Staying cold today so I'm not leaving the house.
Joe will finish up tractor repairs today and I may bake something.
Have a great day

Good morning I got my chores done today and watch a pod cast then came up here to post. I have a back ache today I think I over did it yesterday standing for hours in the kitchen getting food prepped, making breakfast sandwiches for the feezer, made meatlof for supper and just clean up/ I back was aching and it is still today. so I think the rest of the day I will be resting it.
we have lots of wind today,,,not really threatening to take down any trees, Since the leaves are all gone the trees weather the wind pretty well. but in the next hour we are to get some snow showers and with the wind it will look a lot worse than it is. My weather app says 50 today but the real weather people say 29 for the high, I am going to get the heating pad out and sit and stitch, I should be able to finish the center block of Jane today,,,if I can stay awake ( heating pad + chair = sleepy)
I think I will do christmas take down tomorrow if my back feels better...hope you are all doing well XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Monday December 29th, 2025
Good Morning All....
BRRRRRR is right!!! We are at 4* with windchill of 13 BELOW!!! Even if I wanted to go somewhere today I don't think I could even get out of my garage! (at least until our snow plows come by) I have about a 3 foot snow drift out my front door. So I am definitely staying put.
Tinab.....You make a lot of bowl cozies too? Do you make them just for family and friends or do you do a craft fair? Katie next door has probably made a million of them and they are one of her best sellers. We get along really well---she has no interest in quilting and I have no interest in making a million bowl cozies!
Maryz... Oh yes, we got the doozy of a storm... as mentioned I have the drift by my front door as the wind seems to howl right to my front door. I haven't even looked to see how bad it is in front of my garage door. I did manage to finish the little quilt top I was working on, binding and all. I dragged out all my boxes of layers cake and jelly rolls and spent hours looking through BLOCK magazines and watch various tutorials on Youtube. Found a couple Donna Jordan patterns too that I like. The goal is match everything up, place all ingredients in a large zipper bag, and put in one big tote box in my sewing room closet (don't ask how it will fit
) There are a couple empty tote boxes in the garage all ready for that "I'll never use this" fabric. You maybe need to not over do!!
Remember, slow and steady wins the race---but don't race anybody around that track!!
Flo.... Hope you have some nice warm socks to wear!! It is cold down there! I watch the weather in Oak Grove as that's where my BFF lives, I'm guessing your weather is pretty similar. Good news.. it's heading back to the 50's by the end of the week!!
Judi.... Your plan for the day sounds perfect, a little heat and hand stitching!! I'd invite you to come sit and stitch with me and keep my company while I organize fabric, but I don't think you'd want to enjoy my 13 Below Wind Chill!! I'm just glad I made it to the grocery store on Saturday!
Chriss... OH my gosh, that coffee mug for your Dad is PERFECT!!! What did he get done yesterday? So exciting to get a new washer dryer! Did you get one with or without agitator? Mine has none, and it's HUGE so it does a queen size quilt without a problem!! Every once in a while I get that same "I don't wanna sew" slump. But in the winter up here, there isn't anything else to do, and I feel lazy if I just sit and read a book. You'll know when you feel like sewing again... maybe once all the things are fixed up and settled in at your house.
Valerie... Glad the prednisone helped... in some way that stuff is a little miracle. Sure made a difference for my Mom's lungs! She got the cutest little chubby cheeks from it though! My Dad used a prednisone taper all the time, but it just made him crabby.
Gosh I miss those guys!!
Lori.... Would you like some wool pieces? Katie is going to try to sell some of that fabric she has in piles, but I can sure grab the wool. I'll take some photos of it. There are some beautiful pieces. There's some wool that looks like it has a polyester backing on it. Some really strange fabric in that load she got!
Lyn.... Did Minnie go visit Garry? I think of you all the time and send a prayer along with every good thought.
Well, there's Jelly Rolls literally all over my living room ---the goal is to match them up with patterns and maybe a background fabric. Not sure the kids will make it over the help in the garage today--at least until our plows come through. (We're a private road, so we have to wait for our private company to plow--not city plows) IF they do I can scope out backing fabric as the same time!
And it's time for a coffee refill!
Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Good morning!
Well, we're cold, but not nearly that as some of you. I'm staying in anyway!
My 9'ers made the playoffs very interesting. So when we beat the Seahawks on Saturday night, the 9ers will play on their home field right through the Superbowl! Which is just before my bd in February. Party here! Not counting my chickens yet, just one game at a time.
Working on baby stuff. I'll get the receiving blankets edged with my wing needle, so I can crochet the fancy edge at night. Ordered the pattern I need too. The company is in Springville, not far. So when it's mailed, only a day or two for it to arrive.
So that's my project and plan.. Down to about 25 and a half hours!
Hugs,,
Jana

After reading some of your temps, I won't complain that it's only 37° here.
Sorry I was misunderstood. I haven't taken Minnie back to see Garry yet. I had thought about today, but I had to get the Jeep back into the dealer, and am sitting here hoping they fix the passenger headlight problem quickly. If they don't have an answer in about a half hour, I will have them drive me to the nursing facility. When I bring Minnie, it needs to be a cool day so I can leave her in the Jeep for some of the time. Having her in the front pack and trying to feed Garry just won't work well. She likes being in the Jeep, knowing that I'm not far away.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Maryq, to test wool for purity, place a small piece in bleach. The wool will disintegrate and the other fibers will not. Thanks for the offer, but I have more than enough to last a long time.
Judi, bummer your back is giving you grief. Sounds like a good day to just relax a bit.
Maryz, I used to get shin splints and then I changed the way I walk. I use my butt and thighs more and haven't had issues since. Glad you found a place to walk.
Tinab, that's a bit chilly.
I've been for my walk and now to get ready to go to lunch with friends. We're heading down to the beach today and it should be a fabulous day there. Sunny and 72*.
Have a lovely day

Re: Monday December 29th, 2025
Good morning. It's a foggy wet day today, no rain, just foggy and wet. But it will be a great day.
Not sure what I will be doing today, tomorrow the washer and dryer are going to be delivered. I don't even have housework needing to be done so that I can say I'm going to do it then not do it.
Valerie, I like the YouTube videos called Walk Away the Pounds. They are not strenuous, and you will have walked a mile in front of your tv before you know it. They are reviving the mall nearest to me. Adding stores in vacant spots. I haven't been down the mall in years. I like the storm at sea pattern; will you do it scrappy?
Lori, I'd love to open up the house. Funny, when it's cold I want it warmer and when it's hot I want it cooler. So glad Jack's leg is better. Enjoy your lunch out. There is a Facebook group starting a bom. it's called Frostbite Farm. Patterns are supposed to be free downloads, looks cute.
Tina, when my son was young, he had a Nintendo, we played Mario Brothers often. Then when his character died, usually after I spoke, He would say you killed me mom. fun memories, glad your kids are home safely. Do you cook something special for NYE
Maryz, last night's dream was me heading to your house and Bill telling me to park my car up a steep hill. I passed many old cars on my way to his selected parking spot. I went in the house where Lyn had stowed a ton of little kid Halloween costumes. Wonder how someone would interpret that one? Hope the shin splints are better. I like the Orca at sea quilt. It's almost like one of my favorites, Shakespeare in the park https://judymartin.com/wp-content/uploa ... attern.pdf
Flo, glad the storm passed you by, what are you baking
Judi, a heating pad sounds like it is a great idea for that back. Quite a difference on those weather reports. I guess it depends on where they get their reading from.
Maryq, Just how many jelly rolls do you have. Sounds like a lot. I'm sure you'll get them all put into quilts. I probably will find the sewing bug again, Just need to get started. The washer has a removable agitator. And it's really big, much bigger than the one I have now. It has a window so I can be entertained as it washes my things https://www.lowes.com/pd/Whirlpool-4-7- ... 5002186369 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Whirlpool-7-0- ... 5013401629
Jana, sounds like your ducks are all in a row, Sadly, I don't have ducks, I have squirrels and they sure aren't in a row.
Lyn, hope all your plans fall into place and go smoothly. And I hope that your "I hafta" list gets emptied.
Not much else here. hoping you all have a super day. I have chicken thawing for dinner so I will fix that one way or another.
Have a marvy day,
Chriss

I dismissed my squirrels and sent them on their back to where they came from - Sarah's house! And I'm not telling her they are coming! Ethan can let them in!
