thursday November 13th 2025
Good morning Up and dressed. It is frosty outside but going up into the 50s I am finally getting to the spaghetti sauce today and meatballs. I will put that in the slow cooker for supper . I need to take DDIL to her Dr today. It is downtown Detroit which is quite a drive for us. By the time we get back it will be supper time. so I will just have to cook the pasta and oven up some garlic bread.
Tomorrow is my nephews wedding at a very fancy place again in Detroit, despite what the news may say Detroit is not so bad, it has areas where you do not want to go but there are some fun places to visit there, I actually enjoy going there for social stuff.
Well all projects are on hold right now. Birthday gifts are done. Table runners are done. and the Grad quilt is waiting for the last jersey, So I might just concentrate on getting the last room of windows done It is the sun room and hardest since all the furniture has to be moved out to do the room and all the plants, ( it is all windows so the plants are like a jungle in there,) but it has to be done maybe this weekend as the weather us suposed to be nice.
Well hope you all have a great day,,,,hugs and prayers to all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Good rainy morning,
JUDI - I know you will enjoy your time visiting with Val while taking her to her dr appt. today. I've seen hydraulic systems that will load/unload wheelchairs from tops of vehicles - though maybe given your winters that wouldn't be such a great idea. And then there's bugs hitting the chair . . . And the cost. . . . No, you are a far better solution! Is this wedding you are going to the all black one? I can't remember the last wedding we went to.
JANA - what a bummer about your teeth! It's almost like they stamped an expiration date on them! Glad your appt is today. I hope you are all fixed up very soon. It sounds odd that a Hostess Snowball would cause a break, but actually, it's softer foods that often do it because they kind of form a vacuum when chewing and if there's a crack, it kind of sucks the tooth apart. At least that's how my dentist explained it to me when I broke teeth eating soft foods.
TINA - whew! After reading your post I feel like I just stepped out of an activity blender! You are one busy lady! Any way you can get others in your quilt group to help provide tops? That is a lot for just one person. My DIL used to belong to a similar group - perhaps the same one - at her Lutheran church. She was the binding person. She said no way was she doing them all by hand so she got proficient at machine binding pretty quickly! How is the Great Purge going? Is he still working on it? Maybe you can at least talk him into the stuff he is saving to organize, box up, label, and store on designated shelves somewhere. Garage? The room it's now all in? Maybe if he had to put it into a storage unit the cost would encourage him to - ahem - rehome even more of it.
LYN - we didn't see the Northern Lights from our house - We can barely see the sky with all the tall trees. Especially to the north. Plus we were socked in with thick low clouds. Maybe if we'd driven somewhere - but to be honest - we just forgot! I am bummed. I don't know if the A-Team saw the Lights or not. I do know night before last they were camped at Balmorhea St. Park - no light pollution there! They made it home to Austin yesterday at 5pm CST.
LORI - I hope your shoulder eases up on you one day soon. Have you tried alternating heat with ice? And you are right - so often the focus of our social gatherings now is health (or lack thereof!) The really scary part for me is not only am I suddenly finding myself finally able to add my own stories to the conversation, but my KIDS are fitting in so well with OUR groups!
Oh - and that big bag of puzzles I was going to donate to the hospital? I totally forgot to take them in! Drat. I see QIAD has a cute pattern on sale today ($7.50 w/ free shipping) called Just Kitten Around. It's cats sitting on pumpkin stacks with curled tails. It's tempting me, but I still have cat patterns I haven't made yet so I'm going to pass. For now. I think.
CHRISS - It takes a LONG time to fully recover from surgery and your was pretty major - a year or sometimes more. Healing takes place during sleep so a nice nap a day would be great medicine! I'm being told that even a hip replacement takes 6 months to a year for full recovery. I'm sorry your RT to cardio rehab is so long. It must get tiring to make that drive 3x/week. But good on you for sticking to it! How was the roast? I don't think I've cooked a beef roast in a couple of years at least. I remember Mom always made several slits in beef and pork roasts and stuck in whole cloves of garlic before cooking. Delicious!
MQ - how was your day yesterday?? Come across any irresistible treasures?
DIANE - so I checked Nativity quilts and there are several. I did Starry Night and someone else was doing it, too, but not sure if they finished it. Was it Lois? I know she has the Sew Kind of Wonderful rulers, too. So, what is the next step for you after radiation?
LOIS - isn't it great to go out shopping and find everything you need! Was it you who was making Starry Night with the SKoW ruler?
We are having an "atmospheric river" here for a few days. Just when we're on the schedule to have that broken maple taken down. The kids have to push their trailer back as far as they can which means Bill & Lee have to be out today to cut some limbs from trees where their back end will push. Then tomorrow morning, the tree - or what's left of it - will come down. In the rain. They came yesterday while it was dry and climbed high up and put lines on it and cables and chains around the remaining three trunks above the crotch. We expect no problems but we know maples can be surprisingly uncooperative when falling, so we're taking all the precautions we can to keep our trucks and trailers out of the way.
I had my pre-op exams, labs, EKG, etc yesterday. All is good. I have a Tspine MRI plus dental filling and cleaning all on Nov 25. Then I will be ready to rock 'n' roll! The MRI isn't related to the hip surgery - it just happens to be ordered by my back dr as a baseline. My back issues will be further evaluated next year after the hip(s) are done. My hip surgeon says he doesn't think I really need both hips done. Good news there!
I did a piecing on my table runner and a little stitching on CW's last night. We got our deck rug vac'd, rolled, and taken to our shop for the winter. Then Bill vac'd the entire upstairs. LuLu would be proud of how it looks in here now!
Supper last night was more broccoli cheddar soup. I think it's getting better with age!
But tonite we are going to friends, Doyle & Susie, for a "hearty" happy hour - which means light supper and no cooking for me! Except I plan to make choc chip cookies today so I'll take them for a sweet finish.
Wishing you all sunshine in your day, because we sure aren't getting any!

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Good morning!
I have the sunshine! This afternoon is my appointment. Couldn't come fast enough. I believe in Santa. The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Last night the tooth fairy stopped by my pillow and left me money for my tooth! In the form of a note, telling me to go visit my favorite LQS, with the credit card! Such a good fairy! I'll need to see when my cohort in crime is available.
It's trash day eve, so I'll make sure everything is out and ready. Not much. Mostly I'm organizing the middle bedroom. Karlie's big BD present is still in the corner, all wrapped, ready to go to her house. Her BD is the 30th. Tanner's BD is the 18th. He turns 15. He made the first cut for the basketball team in tryouts. I haven't heard yet if he made the final team. He has a good chance, as many of the kids trying out are not tall or big. Tanner is, and the team needs a couple of big guys to play positions. Emma was chosen from her audition to be in Fiddler on the roof. It's her school play. Logan has been asked to help at Emma's school with technical production. He's currently doing that at his high school, Les Miserables. Ethan is playing in the district honors orchestra. Parents running, driving kids, every which way! I remember those days! We still have littles waiting for their turn, in the wings.
Hugs, and lots of prayers,
Jana

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Good Morning Girls
When I woke up it was a nice sunny day!!! The sun has ducked behind some clouds for now, but it's supposed to be warm today---55* which for November is pretty darn good!!! I really need to take advantage of the warm temp and go out and move things around out in the garage!
Judi.... I'm guessing Detroit is a lot like Minneapolis. There are some very pretty areas of MSP, but some areas you just don't want to go---wouldn't be safe to go. I watched a documentary about how bad MSP have become and it's pretty scary. An all black wedding wouldn't be my thing, but I have seen pictures of them and they look actually very elegant. I hope you have a good time, and maybe hit the dance floor at least once! How neat of you to go to Liam's game... I think it's so important for kids to see that they are supported!!!
Maryz.... Sounds like everything is starting to line up for you!! Do you have a surgery date or do you have to complete all those "pre checks" first. We did have a good time at HL and made a dash into a Goodwill store too. Found a couple books (like I needed more!) and a few little Christmas items to use for our Association Party. Of course I went a little crazy with Christmas craft supplies as well. The only piece of fabric I bought was a 5 yrd piece of some pretty teal fabric to make curtains for my kitchen---maybe--or use for a quilt back. You know HL, everything is "on sale" so Christmas stuff was 1/2 off.
Jana.... Oh my goodness your grandkids are busy busy busy!! I too remember spending most of any given day in the car!! My Shawn played hockey until about 5th grade---now that's running! Of course daddy got out of the deal because he had to work!!! One in hockey, one in basketball and another in volleyball!!
Tinab.... I think we are kindred spirits. I think we have what I like to call Adult Onset ADD! Our brains going in a zillion different directions all at the same time! If you could see my house you would know that I suffer from the same malady. Stuff everywhere, different projects here and there. A quilt top is at my sewing machine waiting for side borders, my big table is full of little crafty projects for the party, I have a stack of flannel squares ready to put together for a rag quilt, there's yarn and knitting needles on my couch to knit at night while watching tv and a book to read after I turn the TV. That's doesn't include all the stuff in my living room getting ready for a craft sale! Calgon.... take me away!!
Chriss..... MY SINK COMES TODAY!!! It's on the way as we speak. Now I just have to figure out where I am going to put it until next Wednesday when the counter top comes! I'm glad you found a little group of folks to share your owies with!! Certainly not fun to have owies, but great to share with other folks their experiences and to contribute=--great support system.
Lyn.... Hope you can get your insurance worked out. What a disaster! I was able to take of getting my insurance changed without too much difficulty, probably because I had a little experience with various insurances when I was working. Yours is a little different since your plan involves an employer group from the airline.
Lori.... Gotta love those folks that share their colds with you!!! I used to get about 1 good cold per year, usually when the seasons change, but knock on wood I haven't had one since summer of '22. Probably because go out much and I don't have a DH that shares!! Hope you feel better soon! Chicken soup, lots of water and rest!
Peg and I did have a good time yesterday, though we have decided we are getting too old to try to hit up more than one store at a time. By the time we left Goodwill, we were pooped! Peg is 83 and really pretty spry. We went to "Raising Canes" for chicken fingers for lunch---so good! Do you have them where y'all are? I don't know what's more fun.. .thrifting or just going out to lunch!!
For now, the washing machine is playing it's little tune which means it's time to throw in another load. I washed the fabric I bought yesterday and will iron and set aside until I decide if I really want to make curtains out of it or not. I do have a quilt that it could make perfect backing for.
And, as usual, since I've been at the computer for a bit, my coffee is cold!!!
Wishing you all an awesome fall day!!!
PS I posted some pictures of the Northern Lights over in Photos

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Good afternoon,
I'm late on here today Olivia was here early this morning I had to hem a pair of her pants
I hate hemming but Sandi doesn't know how before I even started I made her and pop breakfast.
So I hemmed her pants and she went back home because all four of there cats were going to the spa.
I quickly cleaned up got a shower got dressed and went to PT.
Then when we got home we had lunch then I took oh little town out of the closet cut Mary out will probably sew it tomorrow I'm kinda tired.
Yesterday we went to Rosie's house it is gorgeous
The house is on a slab and all open concept they redid the whole inside so we had kind of a fun time I was helping her with her new iPhone I think I was observing that she had a little memory problem I think if she had a hobby it might help so after the boss is finished with his leaves I might take a run to hobby lobby years ago she crochet so maybe some yarn and a hook and an infant hat pattern simple she can work on hats for the nicu .
Well this is my story I hope everyone is having a great day.
Lois.

Judi, your outfit sounds perfect. Vans that are converted to disabled vehicles are very expensive. We have a friend that works for a company that makes them. She is in a wheelchair and needs the ramp and hand controls.
Maryz, so glad things are moving along. You'll have a new hip soon. I have enough patterns with cats to last me until I leave this world. I'm sure some day I'll buy more just for fun. I ice mostly. It was just aggravated from soft tissue massage.
Lois, I use my machine and do blind hemming on pants.
Maryq, I haven't had a cold in years. I just nap a lot I'm already feeling better.
Jana, what a nice tooth fairy. Hope you are getting your new teeth and they are perfect.
I went to my coat class this morning but decided I didn't want to use what I had. So I just helped other people out. It's a super easy pattern and I can make it on my own. Some people had never made garments so they needed a little help. I have PT @ 4 today. Don't know what we'll do for dinner.
Have a wonderful evening.

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Hi there (again) and happy afternoon!
Still rainy here, but off and on drizzly now. It's a dank day, but after a week of blue skies and warmish temps, I can't complain. But I can try!!
I am posting now because we probably won't have internet tomorrow so I'm calling this my Friday morning post. If the cable guy shows in the next hour - like he is supposed to - he is going to drop our cable and with it goes our internet and I've lost track of what all else. Power company will be here at 0800 tomorrow to drop power. Tree guy should have our big tree down by 9:00am. Not sure when they'll all be back to hook us back up again. Anyhoo - I didn't want to miss chatting with all y'all!
JANA - Wow! I wanna meet your tooth fairy!! But you deserve it after all you've been going through! You are probably home from dentist as I type this line (4:15 your time, Thursday). I pray it all went well and you will soon be very happy! Your kids are all so busy! Good for them, and good for their parents and grandparents! And some involved in school plays. It's a reminder that when we have old uniforms, costumes, and even small pieces of furniture, lamps, books, etc., and we don't know what to do with them, talk to local schools about donating to their drama departments for costuming and sets.
VAL - by the time you read this, you will be HOME! Glorious home! Welcome!
MARY Q - did your sink come?? And no - no surgery dates until all the test and lab results are in. They won't plug me into their very busy schedule until they know I've satisfied all the requirements. So I expect I'll be at least receiving a date by sometime next week. Thanks for the photos!! You'd think, all the times I've been to Alaska (10) I would have seen the Lights, but no. Though last March when I flew up for Gene's 90th birthday, and I was up at 0400 and sitting with coffee in the hotel lobby, the night clerk too me to a back window and showed me very slight pink in the sky. He said that was the Aurora Borealis, though it had been much brighter earlier.
LOIS - so "Oh Little Town" is a 42" wall hanging? made with the smaller Sew Kind of Wonderful Ruler? Or is the Holy Family and stable from the center of the big Nativity quilt? Sounds like you liked Rosie's house! Is it far from you?
LORI - It's always nice to have a 'helper' circulating in a class! I know when I taught my quilting class in Texas, I was very grateful when Lyn showed up! I find heat really helps to loosen up my muscles.
JUDI - I was also going to put spaghetti sauce into my slow cooker until Bill reminded me we are going to friend's tonite for "hearty" happy hour snacks, which usually are good enough to call supper. So I just piled all my non-perishable sauce ingredients into the crock pot and will get to it tomorrow morning. So all your projects are either finished or on hold? We need to find you another one!
This morning I made two loaves of banana walnut bread for the guys who will be taking down our tree tomorrow. This is his fourth trip here in the last 23 years and I always send him (them) home with something home-baked. Then I made oatmeal chocolate walnut caramel bars for tonite. Then I did some hip exercises and added wrist weights for a few hours as I hung out around the house. I don't know if they help with weight training but I do know when I took them off I felt like my arms were going to float away! I spent an hour or so in my sewing room working on table runner. Bill loaded the top and back of KTVC onto the long arm. Hasn't gotten to the batting yet, and now with the tree and the mess and wood splitting/stacking that is going to generate, it will probably be a while before he gets to it. That's OK. It's the only quilt I have. I don't even have another one planned yet.
So, I better get off this confuser, change clothes, and pack up my dessert. Bill fed the boys for me and now Scott needs to go for 'walkies'. See y'all on the flip side!

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
Ha ha ha - you think I was home by 4:15 - what are you smoking and not sharing.! I got there just before 3,my appointment time and went right back. To do the scans took awhile, removing the temporary teeth, then add all kinds of scan buttons, so the computer can make a perfect 3d model. But first, one of the screws in the teerh refused, big time, to come out. The dr got out all kinds of tools to try, and finally had to saw the temporary tooth apart. That set us bat more than 30 minutes! Finally got everything done and a whole new set of temporary teeth in. Found out it wasn't all my fault, eating a Hostess snowball. The temporary teeth acrylic degrades after a time, about my 4 months! The tech is sending all the scans to the lab tonight and if all is well, they'll start the permanent setl. If something is off, I may need to run back down to the office and fix whatever scan is needed. It a short, 20 min drive. If all goes well, it may be the 21st for the final. Hope hope hope!
Chriss - that cartoon is hanging in the Batt Cave for a long time! If only a train engine was that cheap, the engine is closer to 3 or 4 bolts! Anywhere from 750 or more!

Re: thursday November 13th 2025
WELL today started out good it was going to be quilt tying. Remember how I was stressing over having enough quilts tops! Needless.
Get to building unloading my car and Pastor walks in with me and he never does that and I asked if something was going on today. Of course he had a circuit meeting of pastors you could smell lunch in roaster, coffee on the whole nine yards. So after 5 minutes all of the members were there and we called it off till next month. So the tops came back home never got out of car. The batts I pieced got left. So I was home by 930 and went to work on baby blanket have to bind it. But it was cloudy so I washed the 5 windows and screens then went to dentist for crown prep. Mouth sore tonight but after all, today was pretty good. Off to help sister tomorrow. Hope to sew more tomorrow night.
That’s my day with twists and turns but now I’m going to play with fabric, so I’m happy.
Love, prayers and hugs to all.
