Good morning,

We don't have to be anywhere no appointments.
I finished the flamingo is done and in a box ready for the post office it's going as a comfort quilt for Melissa's mother I hope she likes it.
I would like to thank everyone for your tips on getting the wrinkles out of the batting it worked like a charm.
So I will go upstairs clean the machine a little and sandwich the quilt together and get busy.
As for dinner tonight it will be chicken soup for bill and wedding soup for me.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning woke to 31 and sunny,,,really sunny and bright out there, So no windows today I could do the kitchen windows and might do those 2 but the rest are too sunny,
I started the t shirt quilt and with all your expert advice it is going well and I did send my friend home with instructions to cut and fuse her blocks...I even sent home a 22 in ruler since her blocks are 15 1/2 so I taped off a block that size for her, when she gets the fusible in the mail she will do the blocks and we will resume the construction of her quilt. I in the meantime have 6 blocks done...we did go to the quilt shop I bought some extra bobbins for my new machine and we didnt find any hockey fabric or fishing fabric for her. So that will be our next trip. I can order on line but she is hesitant to do that,,,
Ken has gone to the rink again,,,His other job has not come through with the financing yet, consulting is based on financing,,,but we are ok with him being home for the meantime...
Well I am off to see what can be done around here,,,I am hoping 3 windows will get done...13 on the sunny side will wait...And there is that storage room full of Christmas stuff to dive into...I have the spirit just need the time. Hope you all get to dive into something fun today XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,

It's a mild morning at 52* with light drizzle. Not too bad out on the deck - but I'm not out there! I'm cozy, inside, looking out!

LYN - That Sip'n'Stroll sounds like fun. Let's do it! We did the Georgetown Stroll one year before Covid. It was a big deal - and much fun! In this house, NO pants are ever too short for either of us! Everything is always long. Our kIds made it to Sonoma yesterday and I think might stay there an extra night or two. Amara is doing a lot of reading up on "trackers" during the long drives! Unfortunately, maybe the drive was too long. While Mommy and Scabooch went into a restaurant, Daddy was outside cleaning barf off the back seat!💗

MARY Q - I did it the other way when I went to hospital with Lara - It was very cold, icy drive in (20 mph), and it was spring when we came out five days later! As to appliances, new ones are designed to fail within 5 to 8 years. So hang on to those old ones as long as you can! Our friend, a retired appliance repairman, told us that. So, what's the plan now for hooking up your new D/W?

VAL - I think you said you are going home the 13th if all is well enough to leave Tony? Praying for you both! I hope the video visits work in lieu of home health. How is he doing with the ostomy?

JUDI - you know, if you have only scraps of interfacing, you could align them all up on your shirt blocks and fuse them. It doesn't have to be all one intact piece. It's Nice that Ken gets to hang with his Ice Buddies while he is waiting to be called back to work. Sounds like you and your friend are making good progress on your quilt blocks. Is this quilt a surprise for Liam or does he know about it? Christmas is happening early here at our house. But we decorated some for the A-Team's visit. I've put away the Halloween stuff, but still have fall and TG out amidst some of the Christmas. I won't be getting all our stuff out this year. I'm feeling it in my heart and in my head, but not in my body.

DIANE - hoping those spots are just that - spots. And yay for you - 10 treatments! How many more?

LOIS - Congratulations on finishing Flamingo! I know it will be a comfort to Melissa's mom. Very sweet of you to think of her this way. I think you will like working with the rulers once you get the hang of them. Chickie uses them all the time with her regular sewing machine.

TINA B - So what did your DH decide to do with all his class notes? what are you hand stitching? I'm still working on my cathedral windows but closing in on the end of this project. But if I work too long on any hand project any more, my right fingers go numb and stay tingly all night long and into the next day, So I limit my hours with a needle in my hand.

CHRISS - that would be a neat zipped hoodie. Would look like you are wearing a quilty vest! Glad you found some nighties that will work for you. I don't mind a few small buttons at the neckline. I can't stand long sleeves or long nightgowns. I feel trapped when I try to change positions. I like knee length "tees" nighties. Have you and Dad given more thought to your kitchen space? Will be so nice to get the micro and maybe even more off the counter tops.

LORI - I wonder if topical things would help Jack - Biofreeze, Voltaren, Icy Hot. Ask his dr if those would be OK or if they are contraindicated for dogs. How are you feeling the day after your first PT?

JANA - it's a panicky feeling to loose your credit or debit cards! I've done it. Or thought I did until I found it. I'm so glad Ethan has a good eagle (scout?) eye! That boy deserves a reward! I suggest cookies - all to himself!

Yesterday was a LuLu! And now our house is sparkly clean! Because she does such a bang-up job, we wanted to give her a Christmas bonus so we did that yesterday so she could get started on her Christmas shopping. I thought she was going to cry! Her husband a federal worker and they have missed 3 paychecks! We got a big hug! It felt so good to make a positive difference for someone. I worked a little on my table runner which is a pieced scene of a red pickup with tree in back driving through forest. Somehow I've really messed up the tires on the truck. I checked the internet for pattern errors and found several in 4 of the 15 tablerunners in my booklet, Table Trend 3, but none listed for mine. So maybe I cut wrong or sewed wrong or discovered a new pattern error. Anyway, I walked away and will try again today. We also got 3 loads of laundry done while Lulu cleaned.

Today Bill has a step class at 7:30, I have massage at 11:00, and Bill has oil change in Tacoma at 1:00. And I will be making a pumpkin cheesecake to take to our Supper Club dinner tomorrow. And trying to put tires on my pieced pick-up truck! Supper last night was a sheetpan supper of mixed winter veggies, red potatoes, and chicken chunks marinated in Italian Dressing. I seasoned the veggies with olive oil, S&P, and herbs d provence. They turned out pretty tasty! Tonite- leftovers.

It's Friday Eve! Time to get ready for the weekend!

Good morning!

Yes, Ethan gets a big reward! His favorite pannini sandwich! He loves the ones I make for him. And we've added in the will, that he gets the paninni maker! LOL! He knows the recipe too, for my secret sauce.

Today Sarah is taking Mr G uptown to the min hospital for a long MRI. He's grumping about it too. Anybody's guess as to why this was ordered or which of the myriad of Dr's either. Oh well.....

So not much here. I'll just putter around.

Hugs,
Jana

JANA - good on Ethan! The hero of the day! A long MRI. Ugh! It's so hard to lay still for so long, And when you have as many doctors as Mr G has, it's easy to lose track of who orders what. I wish him - and Sarah - well.

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. It's deceiving, the sun is brightly shinning and the temp isn't quite 60* yet.

Other than a couple of small chores, I will have a free day. I woke up thinking it was Friday, thankfully it isn't.

Lori, thanks for the link, I will check out that video when I am done here. I didn't think of You Tube.

Lois, I saw the flamingo quilt on FB, they are an adorable bunch of flirty birds. That pattern makes me smile. I bet you are glad you bought that quilting machine.

Flo, happy anniversary. I have to say, I have no clue what is playing at the movies.

Judi, that t-shirt quilt seems to be moving right along. yay you. Maybe the financing for Kens job won't come through and he won't have to go. Hope you find time to let Christmas explode in your house.

Maryz, sounds like you and Bill are going in different directions and will meet up over cheesecake later. I've never made a sheet pan dinner, yours sounds good. I am going to probably go with Jana's idea of making the space where my oven was a place for the microwave and toaster oven/air fryer. One above the other. As for my counters now, they are pretty empty. Nothing is in the way and I have plenty of space to do what I need to do. The microwave could even stay right where it is and wouldn't be in the way. Not sure about topical treatments for pets, if they licked that spot they might get sick, but for me, Voltaren is a necessity.

Jana, yay, glad Ethan gets a reward, add a high five from me. I'm curious, what is his favorite pannini and what is in your secret sauce.

Dinner tonight will be a steak, I had kielbasa and sauerkraut last night. If I get up and get moving now my chores will be done quicker. so here I go, you all have a beautiful day.

Sitting here waiting on Mr G to decide what he's going to do first. I know what order to do things, but if I suggest, he gets even slower! Molasses on the shady side of a iceberg moves faster!

Secret sauce - mayo with Italian salad dressing, mixed together . The sandwich is ham, turkey, and salami, Swiss cheese, on sliced sourdough bread. Assembly is easy, bread, cheese, meats, cheese, bread. Smear the sauce on the outside of the bread, liberally, place in paninni and grill until cheese is melted and gooey, and golden brown. I slice the sandwich on the diagonal and Ethan loves the sauce so much, he dips the sandwich in it too. The sauce isn't too thin, just a bit thinner than the mayo. Not watery.

Still waiting....

Jana

Sunny and heading to 88° , but it will cool off this weekend.

Flo, Happy Anniversary! There's a movie out about a true story of a young black girl, Sarah Rector, who was given land at a young age and she became very wealthy because there was oil under that dirt. I think it's an Angel movie. I looked and it's at the Marble Falls theater, so I just might go see it.

MaryZ, I'm so sorry to hear Amara got car sick. Maybe reading in the car isn't her thing, and they should focus on finding and counting red trucks or cows or tractors. I will be going to the Sip'n'Stroll, wish you were here to go along.

Chriss, Thanks for mentioning sauerkraut. I have a little container for making sauerkraut and will get it out of the MH. It takes about 2 weeks and I could have it ready when our friends from Amarillo come thru, on their way to the coast, at the end of the month.

I'm going to try an Amish cheesy egg casserole for breakfast. Then start dishwasher and laundry, then call insurance again. Then I'm going to the Cabin and see how much unpacking I can get done. Dinner will probably be Oregano Chicken Salad.
Lyn

MaryZ, I bet you were going to tell us about your surgeon appt on Saturday before your power went out and you didn't post. What did the Dr have to say?

Good Morning Girls

First of all, thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes---here, there and everywhere! It was a very nice quiet day, spend mostly just puttsing around the house with this and that--which is pretty typical. DS Kevin and GD Corinne and took me out for a wonderful dinner at a new Mexican restaurant in town!

Lois... Don't you love those days when there's no place you have to go--no errands to run---just a nice stay home day! I even love the days when I don't have to talk to anybody!

Judi...Maybe.... with a little bit of luck... the financing won't come through until after the first of the year... then for sure Ken will be around for all the holidays! I laughed when you mentioned him hanging out with his buddies----reminded me of my dad---he and his cronies would go to this little Chinese restaurant and the lady owner would let them sit there all morning with coffee and talk politics!! She'd even let my dad go back in the kitchen and cook his own toast so he could burn it just the way he liked!

Maryz.... The Countertops are coming, theoretically on November 19 only 2 weeks away and then d/w will go in there!! I can hardly wait. Funny how we can't remember what we had for lunch yesterday but we can remember every single detail of our children's births! right down to the shoes I was wearing! My heart goes out to the federal workers!! My Nephew Dan, Bill's son is an air traffic controller---he's not getting paid.

Jana..... A LONG MRI? Can't say I've heard of that.... I've had a short one and it was not a lot of fun. Maybe they are just looking for anything that could "out of place" or things that are there that shouldn't be? In any event, I hope he comes out with clear views and perfect pictures! Your sauce recipe sounds delicious... does it have to be Mayo or can it be Miracle Whip---as that's all I buy! Not a fan of real mayo

Chriss..... Oh Man... nice cleaned off countertops!!!! What's that like.... gotta be heaven!! I could probably accomplish that if I found a better place to store my air fryer, mini blender, and hot pot--that just boils waters. Coffee maker MUST remain on the counter at all times!!! That new space sounds like a perfect place to store those appliances that you need but not out all the time. Peggy actually graduated with my oldest DB Greg. She lived on the east of town, I lived in central area. But we know all the same places. She was to her catholic school for 8 years, I went to my catholic school for 8 years!! She has a 1st cousin the lived down the street from me--we went to same school--same years! Small small world.

Flo.... Happy Anniversary!!! Every year when my folks celebrated an anniversary, my dad would always say something about wanting to renew his contract for another year!! Did you renew your contract for another year? :)

Lyn..... Do you believe that was NINE years ago I was in Houston with y'all!!! Gosh that was fun! Sue texted me last spring and invited me to come down for the show this year. I just don't know if these old arthritic knees could handle the walking around there... It should would be fun tho!!!

Lori.... I'm with you, I dilute the best Press too! When Valerie was coming to visit I picked up 4 small spray bottles for her---it's like $5.49 here, and then forgot to give them to her!! So for now, I am well stocked!!!

Oh gosh, it's 11:00 here and I probably should get busy. Katie and Peggy are taking me out to lunch at 12:30 and I'm only 1/2 dressed. Need to do face and hair before I go out in public. Tonight is Shawn's birthday party at a restaurant across the street and up two blocks from my house!! How very convenient!!

Thanks again for the birthday wishes. It was a great day, and I'm glad it's over!

LYN - sorry! I guess I did forget to share the results of my visit to my hip surgeon. First of all - we went to same high school - just lots of years apart! I really liked him, he was personable, friendly, and funny. He thinks I only need the right hip done and the left might last me longer once the right is fixed. I have a list of things to get done before surgery and I have appt for most of it Nov 12 - physical exam, CXR, labs, etc. Dental exam has already been done but I do have a cavity that needs filling and my cleaning - both Nov 25. Then I'll be ready! He hopes they can get me in before end of the year but it might be early January. And now you know all I know. I'm doing exercises to strengthen the myriad of muscles that support my hip. Oh, and he suggest IBU in addition to my gabapentin. I hadn't wanted to mix them, but boy, does that help! I even forget to use my cane most of the time now, and both Bill and I are constantly searching for it just in case I end up needing it. Afternoons are worse than mornings. So, it's all about me here! I hope you get some cabin stuff unpacked today!
