SATURDAY, October 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 25, 2025 5:40 am

Good morning, everyone!

We're in for a rain/wind storm this morning. After our own large, supposedly healthy maple tree fell on the south side of the house, that old maple of the neighbor's on the north side is giving me the jitters, especially with the kids in the house. We will stay downstairs on the south side of the house as much as we can, maybe watch a movie, though it seems Peppa the Pig is in high demand on the TV this week.

LORI - I'm with Jack. Been overdoing it and then paying for it. But when there's so much fun to be had, how can we not?? Oooh, those boxes from 1966 sound intriguing. I can't wait until we - uh, I mean you - find out what's in them. We watched the series game, too. We were a house divided. I was on the winning team last night.

VAL - glad you are home for a bit. Such a long drive. A good time for an audio book or good music. The test Tony is having - is it another endoscopy? Praying for good results. Travel safe tomorrow.

LYN - things seem to be falling into place for you. If you paint the inside of the house, will you do it yourself or have it done? I don't mind painting, it's all the prep work that I don't like. Is the sewing cabin all ready to unload your sewing stuff or do you have to do anything in there? I hope all is OK through your storm.

CHRISS - I missed you yesterday. Was Dad there? What's left to be done in the kitchen? What's the latest from Elliott? I bet he's toddling all over the house by now.

MARY Q - I am the opposite of you, even though we are both Marys. When I'm really focused on something, I pretty much forget everything else - like making supper, answering the dryer, talking to Bill . . . Nothing distracts me. Which isn't always a good thing and can be irritating to others I understand! lol!

TINA B - you can come vent here any time you want or need! Quilting may be our tie that binds our group, but we've seen each other through a lot over the years. We've got your back!! Hang in there with The Purge. It's a tough emotional trip for your DH. However . . . . if all your sewing stuff were to gradually fill up his side of the bed . . . . :D

JANA - when does Sarah come home? Hope the snow isn't a problem for her. Fun to gather the eggs. I haven't done that since I was a very little girl. How many do they give you a day?

JUDI - glad Ken is home for a couple of days. When he's gone so much of the week, it makes the time he is at home all the sweeter. It's probably a good thing to take a break from The Quilt. It has been kind of beating you up. I'm taking a break from mine, too. It's ready for the LA, but the LA isn't ready for it. It's covered in sheets to keep it dust free, and I have Christmas presents hidden under those sheets. So all progress has stopped until things quiet down here. Aut said they are leaving Nov 2nd.

FLO - What a joyful moment for you to watch your DGD play croquet with the other kids!

LOIS - two backings, two battings, and some Wonder Under for $103 doesn't really sound too bad with today's prices. Like the others, when I have wrinkly batting, I put it into the dryer with my dryer balls, and a damp towel.

We are having fun here! Amara has loosened up a LOT! She is having fun with all the toys we've rounded up. Yesterday we sat together in my recliner and snuggled for over an hour. She is chattering up a storm but we only understand some of her words. The weather turned wet and windy so outside play isn't very feasible right now which is too bad because this little girl has a lot of energy to burn. Last night I made pizzas. I think tonite will be black bean enchiladas. I'll dig out my recipe when I finish this post. I'm not sure what the day holds. I'm definitely not the one running the show here! lol! Yesterday Autumn had a 2 hour Zoom meeting with work and then did a lot of laundry. Antonio has a meeting today. We will park him in Bill's office and we'll hang out downstairs in the wreck room (which is an apt term for it these days. lol!). Maybe we can take a walk around the yard this afternoon if our storm lets up.

As for sewing, yesterday morning I got the last border on KTVC. Now it's set aside until after the kids visit. Then I took stock of my CW's. I'm not getting much work done on them either, but I do have it 3/4 done. My hands are sore from stitching them, so they can use the rest. Antonio ripped out a pair of his pants so I'm going to mend them for him this morning.

So our days here are very busy! I am trying to be careful to not overdo as I really pay for it later. But with our little gang here, it's so hard for me to be good!

Group hug to everyone! Do you realize Thanksgiving is only 4-1/2 weeks away?? This year has flown faster than any year before!

Good Morning it is sunny and cold 30s. Im not sure if we hit the frost mark last night or not,,,We stayed in the warm bed til 730. Talking and catching up. We are headed out to do errands and stop for a breakfast out. I offered to cook but Ken wants to get errands run early. It is good to have him home...He even got a call from the rink this morning so I bet he will be back there in between this big job. He probably has the week off from grand rapids...but there might be other things they have him do. He doesnt even know.
I did take a break from the KTVC quilt it is loaded and ready to quilt...I decided to quilt the table runner and I have to say its cute. I didnt realize I already made my friend a table runner when I was at her house she had it on a cabinet, so maybe I will keep this for myself and see about something else for her, I can always use more Christmas around here. Maryz got me going on the Christmas decor but I have all the fall decor up and it sooths my soul. (I still love christmas the best. I am going to put up the village this year,,,)
Well I am being summoned . Hope you all have a "marvy" day (Chris thats for you) Prayers and good thoughts all around
Peppa Pig is a given when the littles GGC is around here too.

Good morning!

Maryz rainy weather is heading my way and will be here later, probably tonight with the big possibility of snow at my house!

Sarah will be home tomorrow, late afternoon. They call Ethan to see how he is doing. So far, no problems with the asthma. The trails they are riding on are quite muddy, mixed with snow. Still, having fun. Matt's side by side needs a good bath!

As to the chickens, there are 9 or 10, I'm not sure and we gather about that same number of eggs. But with it getting cold and short of daylight, that number drops and varies. The coop has a automatic feeder, that Ethan just shakes and tops off with their food. And makes sure the water is full too. The kitties come running when they see him. They want a love and food.

Ethan is helping me around here today. There's a old gorilla rack, in pieces parts in my side yard, that Daniel is repurposing in the barn. But at the moment, all the parts are blocking the way into the backyard, so my landscapers can't get the big mower back there. So Ethan is helping doing that. I pay well, all it takes is my grandma special paninni sandwich. That's a Swiss cheese, ham, turkey paninni with my special sauce. Mayonnaise mixed with Italian dressing, spread on the outside of the bread. Ethan loves that sauce so much, he dips the sandwich in it too!

As for what rules the TV here, with the littles, Bluey is the favorite, then Phineas and Ferb. Paw Patrol is in the mix too. But if it's the girls, Disney princesses rule! I know everything is available, but I'm old fashioned and still have a DVD player and every Disney movie made! Even many of the old TV shows, MASH, Perry Mason, Dukes of Hazards, WKRP, Magnum PI and tons of railroad videos. This next summer, we'll have movie nights out on the grass in the backyard with the screen hung off the deck. Food and popcorn too. We'll entertain the horses next door too!

Sewing later and need to check the music for tomorrow. We had empty out the leftovers last night, so today will be meatballs with spaghetti and Sunday gravy, even though it's Saturday!

Do fun stuff!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning Girls

Everybody know what day it is? It's SATURDAY!!! And you know what that means? It's CHORE day! Only guess what...I'm going to ignore them all and play instead! I mean, I'm not having company and the Pope isn't coming for a visit, so I'm free to ignore them and play in the sewing room instead! It's much more fun than scrubbing floors and dusting anyway. Oh ok, I'll clean up the kitchen little as there are a few dirty dishes from last night's supper!

Maryz... I can only imagine the activity a 2 year old brings to your home! But what wonderful noise! Funny, I was just looking at the calendar this morning and realizing that it's the end of October already!! YIKES Seems like it was just July and I was complaining about the heat! Now I have the furnace on and the gas fireplace just to take the chill out of the air. (I set thermostat at 68 for now) I just know you are having so much fun with that little girl. Snuggle time is the best! Oh how I'd love to snuggle my babies again!

Judi.... I'm with you, Christmas decor is the best. I rarely decorate for the other seasons--tho I did put up some fall leaves and pumpkins on my fireplace mantel this year. Normally I'm not much for table runners, since there's always extra stuff on my dining room table, but I think I'm kind of going to get into them a little bit as they are fast and generally easy to make. Hope they figure out a plan for Ken so he's not going "back & forth" of need him, but don't! I'm sure the ice rink loves having him around!!

Flo.... Perfect day for baking cookies here too, cloudy and rainy. Having the oven on would sure warm up the house a little too.

Lois,.. Your plan for the day sounds kind of like mine..... A couple loads of laundry, a few dirty dishes then off to the sewing room. How often do you change your needle? I probably should change mine more often, but I forget!

Jana....Funny.... you have all those Disney movies on DVD! I bought every one on VCR--"for my grandchildren---joke was on me.... no such thing as a VCR player anymore! Heck, hardly any one uses a DVD anymore! (I have one attached to my tv in the sewing room--every once in a while I'll pull a DVD from my collection!

Valerie..... No place like home, even tho it's a turn around and go back! Once Tony is home from the hospital will you need to stay long. Will he be able to get set up with a home health nurse to check up on him from time to time. Prayers keep coming!

Lori.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope you a truly wonderful day! How fun to find a box from 1966--who knows maybe there's money hidden up there! When we cleaned out my folks house in 2002, we found my dad saved all the canceled checks from my Grandmother's bank account--she had passed in 1987 and my Dad still kept them. Also paper copies of every tax return he ever filed from 1946 to 2001. Those were sure interesting to look at. I have the one from 1951, the year I was born!

Lyn.... Now that you are back in TX, I bet you are super anxious to get into your sewing cabin! When you close up the MH, are you able to 'store' it on your own property or do you take it to a special storage place?

Chriss..... How's things are your house? Happy to have a kitchen sink again? I can't wait until Monday to get my dishwasher back!!! I may not run it often, but it's a great place to hide stuff!

Guess I better get to work, I hear the washer singing its Aria again.

Wishing you all a Super Saturday

Good morning. What a beautiful day today is going to be. Did you see the same amazing sunrise that I saw, boy was it ever pink to almost bright red. Just stunning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORI, I think you should treat yourself to a new kitty cat.

Yesterday was busy. Cardio rehab then I went to Costco, and to Petsmart. Moose is the proud owner of a new pet bed. He has sniffed it but hasn't put a paw in it yet. The bed was on sale until they rang it up. Seems they failed to remove the sale tag when the sale was over so I got it at the sale price, yay me, I saved $17. It's kind of cool, the cushion in the center is removable so you can just unzip that and was it.

Went to a friends for dinner last night. I brought a tuxedo cake from Costco, yum. I left it there because it would end up being eaten by me. She has grandkids nearby so they will chow down on it.

Today the goal is to do all the chores I don't really want to do. dust the ceiling fan blades, vacuum, and mop. I also want to brush Moose and put his stinky butt in the bathtub. He's a crazy dog. If I call him to the bathroom he won't come, but if I put a leash on him he will follow me wherever I take him.

Tina, Here's a hug. You had the frumps yesterday. Hope today is much better. My DH never helped with cleaning out things. He had clothes in his closet that were easily from the 70's. Then one day, the pole on my side of the closet came unscrewed because of the weight of the clothes on his side of the closet. I pulled his clothes out of the closet and told him to get rid of the things he didn't wear or I would do it. We got rid of a corduroy jacket with patches on the elbows, I don't know how many neck ties, and tons of Large shirts that no longer fit my XL husband. Hoping you have a better day today.

Lori, I love your stories about things you find in your parents house. Boxes from 1966 will be fun to go through. I laugh because I will have the same thing happen at my parents house. Dad told me the other day that in the attic are books from when Judy went to nursing school. I can only imagine what else I find when it's time to clear things out.

Maryz, did Amara bring her rain boots? they would be perfect for puddle jumping. Sounds like you are in your happy place, your post made me smile. When Marilyn was little and would jabber on and on wee would say she was speaking Chinese. Elliott is starting to, as my son puts it, walk briskly. I am going there on Thursday. Marilyn used to watch Peppa the Pig, it was cute, she also watched one called Noddy. Hope all the trees around your house behave.

Judi, it will be a marvy day. Jerry was the decorator around here. I have to say that last Christmas that was spent at my son's, it was nice to come home to an undecorated house. Glad you get to keep the table runner, and also Glad Ken is home. yay you.

Flo, before I head your way I need to know what kind of cookies I will be having. Loved the girl picture on FB.

Lois, isn't it great to have no place to be? happy quilting.

Jana, Phineas and Ferb was popular with Marilyn, she also liked Powder Puff Girls and Pinky and the Brain.

Maryq, yes, it's wonderful to have my kitchen back. You will love this sink, it's so deep. And it's a thicker gauge of SS so you don't hear the water hitting it, if that makes sense. The only thing I am wondering is do I really need the racks that came with it. It also has a basket in the drain that catches anything that shouldn't go down the drain. Glad your DW is being installed soon, what a blessing that will be. I guess since you aren't doing chores today I will.

The other day on the news there was a story about an awards ceremony for police officers. The chief in Fresno is a woman, and instead of a handshake with the awards she gave out hugs. That got me thinking, when did the handshake get replaced with the hug. And on Survivor the other night when someone got voted off the island the people said goodbye, love you. How can they love someone they have known for a week? Seems to me that hugs and love you's are tossed out and accepted until someone hollers harassment. Just something I that hit me as strange

Dinner tonight will be spaghetti, I hope your day is super fun.

Good evening all. There's a nasty storm just to the north of us, we're on the edges of the boxed area. Last evening we got close to 2" of much needed rain. We may get the tail end of this storm and a little rain.

I will call the contractor that finished my Sewing Cabin and get a quote to paint inside. We have a vaulted great room area and I'm not climbing my 16' ladder to paint, at 72 yrs old. I may do a lot, but that's not on my list.

The MH is closed up in the driveway and plugged into 50 amp. That's where it will spend the winter. We could build the RV Port for it, now that we added land to the house lot, but since I don't think we'll be traveling much longer, I can't justify that expense.

I've been lazy all day. Slept in and then took a nap this afternoon. I didn't even step into the Sewing Cabin. Now time to heat up leftover pork loin, potatoes and carrots.

Good evening!

My termite accomplished a lot today. He did work on another scout's eagle project, then home to me and moved those 8n the way gorilla shelves, stacked the pieces parts neatly against the garage wall and planted a ton of tulips and daffodils for me. Let me sing the praises of the auger set ibought for my drill! It was so fast and easy to dig the holes for all the bulbs. Zip, dig holes, then go back and push the dirt to fill in! We planted a little over a hundred bulbs in about 30 minutes. Ethan dug the holes, I tossed the bulbs to near each hole, he placed them right and covered them up. My dirt is not easy to dig, but the auger made short work of it. I got the set on Amazon for about 25 dollars. There are 4 different sizes in the set.

Now the other news of the day, my Gracie was riding a friend's hoverboard, like a skateboard, and you guessed it, fell off and broke her right forearm. More like a Willow break, not a true bone separation. She she's in a air cast splint for awhile. She's a trooper and not many tears through the ordeal.

Off, good night, and Go Toronto!

Jana
