Good morning

I had such an awesome day yesterday! I didn't have to use my cane hardly at al! I got the first section of my KTVC together and the next section up on my design wall. And I made lots of progress on my CW's. We got a message that our new furniture is ready and will be delivered Oct 21, dinner was leftovers so no cooking, and then our Mariners won their Division - in the 15th inning! And I slept well!! Best day (and night!) ever!
,
JUDI - I'm guessing you didn't stay up to watch the Mariners/Tigers Baseball game as it didn't end until after 1am your time. And you wouldn't have liked the ending. As it was it went on 2 hours past my bedtime. You have a busy day ahead of you. Glad you can talk Ken into some of those honey do's. Will he be home on Friday or have to stay longer this first time out? Or does he know yet? I think I'll be cutting the borders across WOF, too, rather than lengthwise. But I have a ways to go yet before I have to cross the border bridge. I haven't looked through my backing stash yet either. Is there any update on Mickey?

TINA B - I think I'm glad my DH isn't much of a saver of stuff. In fact, he tosses or donates things I wish he WOULD save! And he never casts an eye over my stuff. Especially my sewing stuff. In fact, he's often telling me I should get MORE sewing stuff! He is my enabler and I love him for it! lol! Yes, Susie was so pleased with her pocket prayer quilt. And so was my friend, Sherri. I'm going to be sending some to Alaska - to Gene who has probably worn out the one I gave him years ago, and to Terry. I know they will keep them close.

LYN - I hope you are doing OK after your fall. Sometimes healing is like spring cleaning - it gets worse before it gets better. My friend, Susie, who already uses canes and sometimes walkers, is the same - her shoes trip her up and she falls and sustains injuries much like you have described. I think you deserve a few days of R&R to heal.

VAL - how is Tony today? Glad he doesn't need treatment at this time for his BBB. It kind of seems as if he didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck at all. And yes! If you are having storms, a surge protector is a very good idea. We lost a big TV once to a power surge when the power came back on after a storm (35 yrs ago). I don't sew in storms either and I unplug all my sewing stuff even though we have protectors. We have a surge protector for our fifth-wheel, too, and it has saved us 4 times.

CHRISS - glad the cousin party was a good one. Sorry one cousin couldn't make it. Will say a little prayer for her/him. How many cousins were there? And I know where Kettleman City is!! Count me in! Our next time through there will probably be late January. 2027. So glad your countertops will be arriving Tuesday! This is exciting! Do they bring your new sink and faucet, too?

MARY Q - good for you to get out walking! The more you walk, the further you will eventually be able to go. And Zara needs it! I always cut selvages off except on the outside edges of backings. It's good to have a finished edge when rolling the quilt up on the frame rollers. But I DO cut the selvages off for the inside seams. And I save them. I use them for everything from tying up sleeping bags and extra blankets to securing my amaryllis. They come in handy for lots of things. What's the news on your embroidery machine? I can't believe anyone would name their baby that name!! Or maybe it was named after the dad?? And no, not switching my sewing room. Bill's office is 9x10. My sewing room is 10x10. So, I'm staying put.

FLO - I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. But thankful she had a peaceful transition to her new life. God bless her soul.

JANA - happy anniversary early to Sarah and Joseph. We have seen the trails at Brians Head, though we never rode them with our side by side RZR. We never got past the Piute Trail system! So much riding run to be had in Utah! Hope Mr G's appt goes well for him (and you! :D ).

LOIS - that camera would be handy! I always have to get down on the floor, turn off the row of lights we have underneath, and then use a flashlight to check my stitching. And that, for sure, ain't happenin' now! Of course, no quilting is happening now, anyway.

Today's plan is probably more of the same - CW's, KTVC, reading. The kids are bringing nachos and margaritas for supper tonite. Our grandson, Drew, turns 32 on Monday. And he loves hiking, backpacking, camping. So he and a few friends went out camping this weekend to celebrate. And it's going to be the first rainy weekend of the season! Poor Drew! But I've spent many camping trips huddled around a fizzling campfire, under a blue tarp, hugging a cup of coffee to try to warm up. (we didn't always have an RV!) He has to pay his dues, too, I guess.

That's all, Folks! For now.

Morning
I am telling myself it's easier to talk to my friend Debbie now, that she is always with me. But as often as I called her, I am wishing I called her more.
Yesterday I made sourdough French bread the traditional way. Took all day and requires no yeast. Will try again in a few days. I have learned to make notes in my cookbook.
Will check in later.

Good morning everyone.

Surgery report: it was eight hours long. Dr said it took 3 1/2 hours to remove the adhesions from his prior
surgery. Then some of the small bowel was twisted, looped and attached to the tumor. So once she got all of that straightened about so she could make her connection to the rectum she had a difficult time because of the amount of colon that was left. But she did get it done. The biggest issue is because of his low blood counts. They did have to transfuse him to units of blood.
And there is some concern about the connection leaking, and she said, if that happenedHe wouldn't be able to have chemotherapy. She didn't explain why that was. So she ended up having to do a colostomy instead of an iliostomy, because of the condition of the small bowel. So he was pretty much a mess. She also ended up having to abandon the robot arms, and she had to make a full incision. So we are day one post up.I just got up a few minutes ago. I'm going to get me some breakfast, shower and then I guess I'll be on my way to the hospital.

I will try to check back in later. The doctor is going to explain the colostomy. To him today because he was not wanting that at all.And she did say she wouldn't do it unless it was a hundred percent needed. And it sure, sounds like it was. And it's going to be for 6 months to a year. So I guess we're going to spend a few days with him digesting that. I have to be honest I am not looking forward to this

So I need to get moving. If i'm going to get to the hospital in any sort of decent time.Remember, it's a good forty five minutes away. I will check back in later.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning!

Hopefully the rain will hold off awhile. Daniel and Aaron are cleaning up here. It rained earlier, but has stopped.

Yesterday's Dr appointment went totally south! It was just to be a routine check up, but the cardiologist found some anomalies, so the short visit turned into a very long, 9 hour one! Ran tests, which didn't really answer questions. So now they are scheduling a nuclear stress test. The last one of those caused huge issues, so the Dr's are using a different type, to do the same thing. Mr G has a severe reaction to the chemical stress test, so nuclear medicine department will do this new test. The pacemaker is watched by Bluetooth and tattles to the Dr on a daily basis. Any issues show up immediately. So we're back to square one!

Matt wants a family dinner Sunday. So, we are, the last hurrah of summer! Aaron's doing the ribs and my girls are doing the rest, with help from Costco. It will be raining and at Sarah's house. She has the basement ready to keep the kids entertained.

Watched the Mariners game last night. Wondered how long the pitching could hold out! Now either the cubs or the brewers have to step up and keep the Dodgers out of the World Series, I hate the Dodgers! And so tired of them in the World Series! Tired of some of the other always in the World Series too, they've already been eliminated!

The sun is trying hard to shine brightly this morning. I plan to be in my Batt Cave today. I need distraction time,

Hugs and prayers
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Just waiting for the coffee to kick in so I can get to work around here. I think it's been a while since I washed floors, so that is on the agenda this morning---floors, toilets, dust and vac! This is when I wish I had a "cleaning Lady" ---for today I guess I'm IT!

Judi.... With modern technology of cell phones and texts and facetime it might not seem like Ken is really gone--oh except at night! Back in the day, it was expensive long distance phone calls to keep in touch or long hand written letters! I was laying awake last and for some reason thought of your little friend that uses a g-tube. How is her supply of covers?

Maryz... Now that I've kind of gotten in the habit of taking the dog for a walk, I think I'll just have to take myself. Gary across the way goes for a walk several times a day--maybe some day I'll ask him if he wants to join me. He's got a bit of dementia going on but he's enjoyable talk to. I was able to pick up my embroidery machine yesterday--Flat fee of $79 to fix!!! Just needed cleaning etc I was thrilled!!! Tho I was so tempted to buy a Babylock Journey sewing machine there--a used one for $1350. Can you imagine how much grief I would have gotten if I brought home another sewing machine! I'll be anxious to see what Dr says after your appointment on Wednesday, but I'm so glad you are feeling better and able to ditch the cane!

Flo.... It takes a while... to not want to reach for the phone. SO many times after my Mom passed I'd go to pick up the phone to tell her something or ask about her day--only to realize she was gone. But I talk to her all the time, when I look in the mirror I see her face---as I look SO much like her. Keep talking to her---she hears you!

Chriss.... Your countertops are coming on Tuesday already? They came and measured for mine--a more exact measure as I have some funky angles, but I haven't heard a timetable yet for installation. I'm guessing end of Oct or first week of Nov. I need to go pick up the sink at Home Depot and make arrangements for the plumber so I hope they give me a good heads up! I got the bid a while back and have paid the 1/2 down.. Now I wait!!

Valerie.... Thanks for the update on Tony. Sounds like he has a lot going on--something similar that my brother David went through--though they got all his CA, and didn't need chemo, he has full on colostomy with a bag etc. Sending prayers for him this morning.

Lyn.... How's your bumps and bruises this morning? Oh yes, I have had those kind of shoes that stitch to floors and nearly tripped a couple times myself. I know of what you speak! Which is why, now around the house, I don't even wear shoes! I've looked at the Angel Channel on tv-- but hesitate to buy another streaming service! Watch a couple movies and let me know what you think.

Jana... Oh my gosh!! Poor Michael, to have to go through that whole day of testing!! Sounds like he could use some extra prayers today.... which I will offer up as I go through my day! I have fabric to iron and it's a good quiet time to think of those we need a little something extra!

Speaking of ironing.... so I picked up my sewing machine yesterday, checked out a thrift store--supposedly it had fabric and crafts--and it did, but it was icky fabric. I did found some cloth napkins that I might use to stitch things on, if not they will sit in my napkin drawer for all eternity. Then I found the Hobby Lobby and made the big mistake of wandering around there for a while. Lo and behold fabric was on sale. Christmas fabric was 50% off and reg fabric was 30% off. So I grabbed some white on white, because, well you can never have too much white! And some flannel for baby bibs and sleepers, because again, why not? Fall decor was 40% off (I mean seriously when is stuff NOT on sale at HL) --I realized I didn't have much fall decor so I bought a little bit to decorate the mantel on the fireplace (tho I had to carve the dust off it first)

For now my coffee is cold and the floors await! No dog for the weekend so looks like I'll be talking to myself all weekend. If I have any energy after house cleaning I may take myself for a walk. If I don't get here tomorrow morning--not to worry--- I have to be up and out early to get to a baby shower way on the other side of St. Paul from me--about a 45 minute drive--in fact it's almost to the Wisconsin border!

wishing you all a Super Saturday

Gloomy day here. Overcast, rained and chance of more rain.

Valerie, I hope Tony isn't too upset with his outcome. It will be an adjustment. Hope you remember to pick up a surge protector so you can sew without worry.

MaryZ, I hope you have more good days ahead.

Flo, I lost a friend a few years back and still think about calling her. Hugs 💞

Judi, Nice to get the honey do list done before Ken leaves.

Lois, I bet you will be very busy once your machine is back. That client is probably chomping at the bit.

Jana, Sorry the appt went south. Hope the new test gives answers.

MaryQ, Today I'm no longer patriotic, now red & black. It's not hurting as much, which I'm thankful for. There are some Angel movies that you can watch for free. They are having a sale on subscription, that's why I went ahead and bought a year.

Chriss, I hope the installation goes smoothly and you enjoy your new kitchen.

The thing I ordered for Garry is in Nevada and hopefully here by Tuesday. Kaylyn is done at the Stables today. She will stop and pick up some things here before going home to her Dad's house. I would like to load up the Jeep and take some things back to the MH, but will probably wait until Monday. Everyone keeps telling me not to lift or strain. I may watch another movie today.

Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Chriss, yes we should definitely meet up when the dust finally settles.

Lyn, I've looked at the Angel network a few times. I may try it out. I like the movie trailers they put up.

Jana, I'm not a Dodger fan either. Hope the boys can get everything done before the rain. Bummer about a simple appointment turning into a day adventure. Hope Mr. G is okay.

Maryz, did you watch that game? I thought it would never end. We were working on the puzzle and watching the game. I finally stopped working on the puzzle and was about to call it when they finally won the game. Today we'll be watching the Cubs/Brewers game. Go Cubbies. You sure had a busy day yesterday.

Valerie, glad BIL came though the surgery. It sounds like a long road to recovery for him. Will he go into a nursing facility to recover?

Flo, sorry to hear about your friend.

Judi, I need to take my curtains down and wash them. The dogs like to go in between the curtains and windows and they get dog yuckies.

We got our walk in and I'm working on the puzzle. It's more than half way done, so maybe we can finish up by tomorrow. Yesterday was hot, but it's cooled off today. Should be in the high 70's. Watching the game and puzzling is on my agenda for today. I also need to straiten up a few messes. Dinner will be chicken and potatoes on the grill. I also need to go to the farmers market this morning.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning. Isn't it just the best day ever? There is a breeze and it's chilly. I love fall mornings sitting here with my coffee and a quilt on my lap wearing a cozy robe and slippers. It's a great way to start a day.

I've done a load of towels and still need to fold them up, and I think I will put those flannel sheets on my bed. I had to add a quilt last night. I know!, poor me right?

I was going to go to a fall festival in Columbia today but decided I should probably do some stuff around here instead. We will see what really gets done.

Valerie, how did the surgery go? They also screened my blood before my surgery and made sure I had it so they could give me a refill. Well, I just read your report. Tony is lucky that you intervened on his behalf. Sounds like a complicated surgery. Prayers that it was successful.

Tina, husbands do like to hold on to things. Mine sure did. I got rid of so much rusty junk when I cleaned out the garage, it was crazy. I found so many keys that fit nothing.

Judi, I also have yard work in the making. It would be wonderful if those falling leaves would blow themselves away. Nice to be getting new window treatments.

Maryz, happy birthday to Drew. Hope he has fun in between the rain drops. Glad your yesterday was awesome, hope today is even better. I had nachos the other day. The parents had taken me to a Mexican food lunch and I took home the chips that were leftover and used them. I've had my new sink for a while now, it is in it's box in the garage waiting patiently. Jerry was like Bill in that he never said a word about the stuff I would bring home or the stuff I had. But I learned, when I went through his stuff, how he also bought stuff and kept storing it. Funny.

Flo, Jerry had tons of notes in his cook book and recipe file. Marilyn has his recipes now, I just don't hardly cook anymore. Hope your French bread comes out wonderful, I'll bring the butter.

Jana, sorry about the doctor appointment. Gosh darn, it seems to always be something. Hope the next test happens quickly and answers the questions with a solution

Maryq, look at you getting deals at HL. They do have fun stuff, but I am trying to not get any more stuff unless I have someplace to put it. Otherwise, I seem to buy it and send it to the thrift store. My bid for counters went up also, I didn't measure correctly when I got my estimate and I also have some funky angles. This weekend will be emptying drawers and cupboards. I still have way too much kitchen stuff.

Lyn, I have to not lift or strain too. Thankfully it's only 3 months and not the 6 months I thought it was. You'll get all that stuff in the motor home in plenty of time to travel.

Well, that was dad on the phone, he's on his way up here. With dad on his way could mean now or this afternoon. So, I had best get dressed and be ready. And I need to have something for breakfast. Maybe I can put my stepmom to work helping me unload cupboards and cabinets.

No clue what dinner tonight will be. Maybe a bologna sandwich, I've been wanting bologna for a while now and finally bought some. I put dill pickles in mine.

You girls have a fab day,
Chriss.

Beautiful fall day here about 68 degrees. Perfect day to make bread. Flo, what kind was it?
Wish we had more color on the trees, so afraid fall will be gone in a flash. Proud of DH for
STARTING to get rid of a room full of his mothers stuff. He and siblings did do well and I know it was hard but we’ve lost 11 years of using that room for something. Really fighting thinking I have lost that time to have had a sewing room or study for him and hoping I still have 11 years left. It’s too much to think about sometime. Still have all of our stuff to start getting rid of. Regretting now I even saved things so long ago, but I guess we didn’t know better. Tomorrow is delivering the quilts then back home. Looks as though May get back to sewing Tuesday night as I would like to get at least two tops ready for the 23 rd meeting.
Trying to pick up house and do laundry and have cleaned one bathroom.
Have a blessed day one and all, prayers for Tony and Val and all in need. Safe travels for Ken, hugs for Flo for loss of friend.
Hugs
