Post by grammiequilts » Wed Sep 17, 2025 4:27 am

Good morning it was good to sleep in my own bed, but I could have stayed another week up north, Very relaxing and weather was fantastic.
Back to the real world, Today i have laundry started and a grocery order to pick up and a stop at the meat market as the freezer is empty, then a stop at the fresh market for salad fixings and fruit and veggies, Most of my day will be in the kitchen and laundry room.
Tonight I will cut up the christmas stocking block. and work on that. So goes my day sometime on the next day or so I need to plant a couple of perrenials I bought at the native plant market...Milk weed to encourage the Monarch butterflies to nest here and I bought a yarrow which is native to Michigan,,,and a great dried flower.
Hope you are all having a great day,,,I have a full week...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,

VALERIE - that's great news! I wonder if it just happened or if it was your cage rattling that did it. Either way, I'm relieved that Tony will be seen by someone! Good work!

LORI - Scottie loved his ear scritches and says thank you. He practically purred. But that would have been embarrassing for him to be caught PURRING. Colorado is a cool state. I have a lot of family there and I suspect if/when A&A ever get around to leaving Texas, they will relocate there, too. Wouldn't it be funny if our kids ended up neighbors and friends.

CHRISS - Sorry your appt got cancelled and you had to deal with a turnip in getting rescheduled. A patient (or his/her advocate) has to be vigilant and stay on top of things nowadays. Yesterday I learned my referral to the hip surgeon got lost in "the referral department". I had to start in making phone calls. I hate making phone calls! Nice to have your countertop project moving forward. I hope you love them when you get them. I have granite and they are nice but so not worth the cost. Not to me, anyway. I wouldn't do it again. Not when there are so many other materials so much cheaper that work just as well. I remember, when I was little, before my parents remodeled their house when I was 12, mom's countertops were made from leftover floor linoleum.

MARY Q - so what are your countertops like now and what do you want to go to? I hope it works out for you.

LYN - how did the boiler repair go? I get being uneasy about going away and leaving it all winter. Have you started thinking about what you want to take to Texas this year? Will your jeep be packed solid again?

JANA - as I write you are on your way to the airport with Daniel, or maybe starting your return trip by now. That's interesting that Robert Redford was married to your BFF's aunt. He had two wives, Lola (1st), and Sybille (2nd). Both were fairly lengthy marriages. He was a special guy!

JUDI - how did it feel to sleep in your own bed last night? No lapping waves to lull you to sleep. Laundry and groceries are usually a given after a trip. I hope your new plants love their new home and thrive.

FLO - Your BBQ island sounds like you'll be having a lot of tasty family meals in the future!

Yesterday Bill and I took the twelve finished and washed comfort quilts to the two nursing homes in our town. Each facility received 6 and were very grateful. So thank you to you all from them! Lee & Lara returned from their last camping trip and Drew came by on his motorcycle about 2:30. We all had a nice visit, took some photos, enjoyed pizzas, and the party broke up about 6pm. Drew had a 30-mile
ride home and has to get up at 4am for work. I went to bed at 8pm and slept well until 4am. Eight hours! I never sleep 8 hours even in the best of times. Today I have no plans but I do think I'll work some more on my 8 candy cane blocks. I have a book to finish and maybe some CW's to stitch. Supper is going to be spaghetti.

Wishing all a nice day!

Good morning!

Yup, up, gone to the airport, the donut shop, then wandered back home, all in the dark! Just as we were on the last road to the house, we could finally see the beginning of morning, peeking over the mountains. Breakfast will be in awhile, with scrambled eggs and a donut. The donut shop is named Banbury Cross, on 7th East and 7th South in SLC. Daniel's flight had a stop in Denver before he gets to Iowa. Then he'll drive the moving truck to Vacaville, CA, by Valerie.

So it's naptime, right now! Then later, Batt Cave!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning,
We had early testing at the Dr office now I'm just waiting while Bill finishes then will go get a bagel that will be brunch for us.

When I get home I will cut out the next block to the snowman .
Yesterday I did the snowmans face and baked chocolate chip cookies as a request from bill or as Mary calls it hoh.

Well that's all the news.
I hope your having a great day
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning

Maryz not really sure how the appointment got changed. I think, on Monday a nurse from the grievance department at the insurance company called out of the blue. While we spoke to several people at Humana we never filed a grievance. Didn't know that was a possibility. She just happened to have been an oncology nurse earlier in her career. She agreed he needed to have the surgery sooner than later and was going to call the surgeon office. Then yesterday we got the call. There are probably several other things that could have happened but I think this one is the most likely

Jana if I was home I could go take Daniel to lunch. For those that don't know Vacaville is about a 30 min drive from me and where I go for my open sews and other classes.

Lyn having just drove through Colorado I would say it's a gorgeous state. I was actually born in Aurora just outside Denver.

Chriss I sorry your appointment got moved. Did they tell you why? I kinda like my granite counters but yes they are expensive and hard to keep shiny.

Flo I took a bit of a nap yesterday which Is rare for me. But I feel better today.

Just as a footnote Robert Redford owned an estate in St. Helena in th Napa Valley. I think he had it about 15 years.

The house is back to presentable except didn't touch the boxing room. Maybe next week. Now the focus shifts to getting a surgery date.

Today we will go to town, (Las Vegas). I got a noon hair cut appointment. Need to drop shirts off at the cleaner. May go by SewYeah quilting and Henderson for dinner. I hope he do all that. We can come home early if need be.

Have a great day everyone.

Valerie

Good morning Girls

Ok, it's September right? I thought it was supposed to cool down now! High of 82* today and I really really would like to open up the windows ---maybe tomorrow!

Judi... Welcome home! As wonderful as it is to get away--there's no place like home. The downside of coming home is the chores that need to be done!

Maryz... SO glad to hear you found a home for those quilts!! My counter tops are ugly beige! All of the units in this development had all the same ugly beige countertops, white appliance, beige carpet, beige walls beige outside. A lot of folks here have already updated their kitchens, but the folks I bought the house from only updated a couple of the light fixtures---most were still the "builders basic ugly" over the 22 years they lived here. I'm not a fan of beige. A guy is coming this afternoon to measure---not sure I can pull it off, but at least I'll get an idea of what it will cost.

Jana.... I must have missed it.. Daniel is helping someone move from Iowa to Utah?

Lois... Is today the day you get the part for your machine, or was it yesterday?

Valerie... How much are you going to cut from your hair???? Good news that Tony is able to get in to the Dr tomorrow! Will keep the prayers coming!!

Flo... Your patio is going to be so much fun---once you get the BBQ built, just think of all the fun stuff you can cook! Do you have a Blackstone or a regular gas grill?

Since it's taken me over an hour to type this---showered and did hair and face between typing---I suppose I better get busy now. Need to give the kitchen a shine up before the guy gets here to measure! Not sure what the sewing plan is for the day. I am kind of working on the Christmas Kit I bought a few years ago, so maybe I'll play with that.

Hope y'all have a great day

Nap over, I think I am more coherent now. Getting up at 4 am is for the birds - the deer, the skunks, anything but me!

Daniel is helping his best friend, the one who did my hardwood floors, move back to California. This friend wanted to raise his family out of the political climate of California. But it didn't work job wise in Iowa, so he's heading back to where the extended family is in Vacaville. Who knows, Daniel may influence him to move here to Utah! Tyson, the friend not only did my floors here, he did my Concord house too.

I'm hoping that my printer downstairs will play nicely today. I really need to get my instructions printed for the JA. Sarah wants to sew tomorrow. She has her work caught up and under control.

Valerie - glad you're getting things done for Tony. Humana is a royal pain to deal with. I had many experiences dealing with them and will never have them for any insurance! I also have a cousin, who lives near you too. On the golf course in Green Valley, aka Suisun. She has a garage just for the golf cart. It opens onto the course. She's 90 +. I miss the old days of Vacaville, you could smell it miles away, and your eyes would water!

Well not much here new. The donut was yummy! With a big tall glass of cold milk!

Hugs,
Jana
