Sunday August 31,
Good morning all Saying good bye to August the nights are cooler and so are the days, We leave a week from today for a week up north, I have been checking the weather up there and so far it is just a bit cooler than here,,,but I will be packing long sleeves and a jacket, Being right on Lake Superior tends to be cold.
yesterday was a busy day and I never got up to the sewing room at all...Today i hope to finish the candy canes blocks. 6 to go. I just have a few small chores to do. Tomorrow a big BBQ at my sons house there will be 20 of us, I will make escalloped potatoes. my family likes that better than potatoe salad. I hope the weather holds out.
Chris it was so good to hear from you...I am glad all your functions are working,,,When do they spring you from there? You and Moose are going home or to your Dads? I think I missed your follow up plans?
I need coffee and see if it will be a sew day or not...Hope your day turns out to be what you wantd,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Sunday August 31,
Good morning,
JUDI - the BBQ tomorrow will be a nice ending to a nice summer. And your trip next week will be frosting on your summer cake! I recall back in 1993 camping on Lake Superior and I poisoned myself with spoiled blue cheese dressing. Whenever I think of Lake Superior, that's what comes to my mind.
LOIS - I guess I need to Google those flamingoes. I must have missed when you and MQ started them, but suddenly you are both talking flamingoes. ,,,,,, OK, I checked it out. Are you doing the one where the flamingoes are doing feather dances with their wings? It's a cute one!
LORI - You asked if I posted photos of my BeWitched quilt. So I went back and looked and I guess I must have forgotten. Oops! And yes, I'm sorry we're cancelling our trip, but we have Lee & Lara here most of the time, so we're not competely "kid-less". And they made a great dinner for us last night - tortellini! I love hearing that you and your Bill are watching your Cubs together. My parents loved watching the Mariners together.
CHRISS - You Super Girl! What a wonderful thing to see a post from you! Glad to hear you are peeing. Nurses like that kind of thing. Don't fret about those pounds. I suspect most of it is edema from the surgery, They will go away soon. Sorry you are in so much pain. Hopefully it is less each day.
JOAN - (I love that you are Indiana Joan!) - I am going to add your son to my prayer list. He sounds like a fighter. You have certainly shown him how to be a survivor! And yes, my DH is a nice guy - most of the time.
When we got together as a couple on July 4th 1990 at 10pm, we knew who each other was from dance classes. But I had a Fourth of July party, a friend urged him to come, he offered to share his chaise lounge so we could watch our little fireworks show, and when I sat down, he rubbed my neck. And I was instantly a goner. It was that fast. We were married 1-1/2 years later.
VAL - so sorry to hear your DGD's story. I don't understand women who stay with violent men. Or with a man who abuses animals. I hope she gets away from him soon before she is hurt, too. Your launch date is coming up quickly! I hope your trip comes off and you have a great time. Hug MQ for me!
LYN - what is the pattern that your sister picked out? And do your days ever go as planned? Seems your middle name is "Troubleshooter"!
That dry chard you were drinking sounds good to me. But maybe I'll wait until after breakfast.
DIANE - and praytell, what kind of wine do YOU like? Ahttps://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tVP1z ... ie=UTF-8nd here is the BeWitched pattern: It's not difficult, but like Lori said, it does waste fabric. But now I have lots of scraps for another project.
JANA - I can picture your sewing room with different projects spread everywhere! I still have my Vintage Christmas kit waiting in the wings. I want to start it, but just haven't gotten to it yet.
MARY Q - you've got to stop letting people know you have machines, a generous heart, and know how to use them! You are always busy making for others.
Well, yesterday turned out differently. Our furniture is 25 yrs old and it is starting to look it. We've been meaning to buy new for the last 5 years, but things got in the way - a bathroom remodel one year, a new to us car another year, a new bed, and too lazy to go shopping. I've been spending a lot of time on the loveseats lately and it's become all too obvious to me how broken down they are. So I said to Bill, We should go shopping the holiday sale. He said Ok, we went, bought a couch and 4 recliners, and were back home 3 hours later. Now we have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery. I am slowly working on Cathedral Windows. I can't sit at my machine or stand at the iron for more than a few minutes at a time, but I do visit my sewing room several times a day and fondle my fabrics. And I sit and read my VC pattern book. Don't know when I'll finally get to it.
Today's plan is to do practically nothing but whine and limp around. I need some of Chriss's toughness! But we and L&L are going over to Doyle and Susie's for Happy Hour. We are taking a cheese and fruit tray and we'll sit by their koi pond for an hour or two and sip something tasty.
Have a super Sunday, everyone!

Re: Sunday August 31,
Good morning!
Perfect beautiful day here. Church is in a few and we're singing oldie hymns which I know well.. a favorite, Redeemer of Israel, which my organist and I will rattle the walls of Jericho! Meaning,, we'll open up the organ! And have fun singing!
Sarah and I worked on the JA quilt last night. I will do mine with a blanket machine stitch and Sarah is doing her applique by hand. She loves hand work. Not me, give me my machine! So I'm using the very lightweight fusible method and Sarah ordered what the pattern suggests. I got all the pieces traced and she cut the fabric for hers. Sarah's kit had labeled each fabric by the name, which is very helpful, my kit just had the fabrics in a bag. We also went through all the templates, which I have for many Lori holt quilts. I had a couple of duplicate template sets, so those are now living at Sarah's. Found my set for the chicken salad quilt and got that pattern downloaded. Even tamed my other projects, into some assemblance of order.
Changed the bs monitor and have readied the meds to put out. I've been busy, LOL! Meds are a after church project. Takes me a few minutes to sort them out into proper spots, with Mr G watching over my shoulder. He's extremely fussy! Days are, I'm glad for patience!
So good to here from Chriss. On the road to be better than before. Just behave and take things slow!
Maryz - sorry to hear you canceled you big trip. Maybe the A-team can come spend Christmas in the woods, at your house this year. My kids always remember when we came to Utah for Christmas with their grandparents.
Well, time to get 5h8ngs rolling before church,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Re: Sunday August 31,
Good morning everyone
Chriss, so glad to see you post! I've been thinking of you often. I bet that weight is from swelling.....I can gain 10 pounds in a day from swelling but can pee it out when I have a rough night of going every hour ugh LOL
Judi, I'm so ready for Fall! We're still in the 90's and our lows are 68-70... I'd like some cool.
Maryz, I hope they get you all fixed up soon so you're pain free.
Jana, I love your description!
Lois, lower electric bills are always welcome
The reunion is going on here, it was fun last night. It was Mexican food and yummy. I haven't been able to do a bunch of the other things, it start at 8am and goes to 11 pm or so. Tonight will be bbq and more visiting. We did pictures last night too, we had lots of fun. Elijah went right up to ladies on the dance floor and started dancing, just like Jazmyne did at his age and she still loves to dance. You all should've seen his sheepish grin after each dance

Well I need to clean the house and Jazmyne is here so I'm getting her and Frankie to help me so we can be done in just a few hours.
Prayers for all in need
You all have a great day!
Tina

Re: Sunday August 31,
Good morning everyone
No new news regarding DBIL. It's too early to call so will have to update later. Open sew today. I am making progress on the guitar quilt. Should be able to start sewing everything together today. DGS quilt will have to wait till I get home.
Sheets are washed and back on the bed. Dishwasher ran, clothes folded and out away.
Chriss so happy to see you post. Yes, I can't imagine how that chest incision feels. But don't be afraid to use the pain medicine. I'd you wait till it gets really bad it won't work well and its hard to do PT when your in pain. Okay now I am beginning to sound like a nurse.
Jana I love those oldies. I have often thought about what my favorite one is but truly there are just too many.
Maryz do you know when you may pick up the trip again? Thank you for prayers for DGD. I have said all I can to her. She is 25 so I have no authority. We used to be real close but no longer. And I think sometimes when you say too much, you just push them further away.
Well, I need to leave early as there is a car show in Vacaville today and I need to get through town before they start shutting down streets.
Church is on now too so I should pay attention.
Have a great day
Valerie

Re: Sunday August 31,
Good Morning Girls
Looks like it's going to be a nice day!! I might even get out of the house today! Need to do some Amazon returns today, then go check on the cat!
Judi... The way the temps are cooling down here, I can imagine that "up north" they will be even cooler. The morning was cooler, but per Alexa it will get up to 80* today---so I won't be packing up the shorts just yet!! Is this trip just you and Ken or is it a family thing? I don't remember---are you staying at a resort or at the place where your kids have the camper?
Lois.... I woke up this morning thinking maybe today I'll do a little stitching on my flamingos too! Or the key fobs I need to make, or the table runners I'm making for craft fair, or maybe I should just leave the sewing behind and do some chores!
Maryz... While I am still sorry you had to cancel your trip, I'm quite happy for you that you were able to get some new furniture!! Lois and I are doing the Fatcat Pattern of the Flamingoes! Not sure what I'm going to do with it when I'm done, except that Greg & Carol have the air stream!! Might go to them! That Witches Hat pattern is pretty darn cute---and I'm not a Halloween person--but Viv sure is! I'm betting she already has that pattern!!
Jana... I'm with you... I prefer machine applique... my hand stitches are never that pretty! Besides I don't have the patience to do a LOT of hand stitching.. That being said, I did buy this Christmas kit I'm currently working on... not realizing that ALL the stitching is hand embroidery/applique...
Valerie... SO glad to hear that the trip is on... I have a general rule about cleaning for company... If the Pope is coming, I'll clean like a mad woman, but for anybody else---my house is my house---and it's more of a work shop than a house!
Chriss.... OH so good to see you stop by!!!! Sorry to hear you are in pain, and I hope they are taking good care of you and giving you something to ease it a bit. Don't worry about a few extra pounds.... Once you get back to your regular routine you'll get right back where you want to be!
Tina.... Sure sounds like a busy weekend at your house!! How fun to have family all together!
Guess I should get in gear, I'm showered and 1/2 dressed---jeans and jammie top as I need to put on public face to do Amazon returns. Used to be able to take to the UPS store (6miles away) This time I to drive 25 miles to a Whole Foods store!! But I may stop at a Home Depot and check out a dishwasher.... still haven't gotten around to it--almost forgot about it!
Wishing you all the very best. With prayers all around!

Re: Sunday August 31,
What do you know I got here before this evening
Lori, Your dancing flamingo's sould really cute. Can't wait to see the quilt. I do love fresh veggies from the garden. I will need to make more salsa sauce before we leave on vacation. Breakfast for dinner is something DH always looks forward too. Stella Rosa makes some really good wines too. The red is a favorite and so is the black label one.
Chriss, So glad to see you post. I know that pain is real. I wishes I could take pain meds but just wasn't happening for me. The weight gain is proabably from the fluid they pump you up with I know I was up almost 20 lbs right after surgery but it was gone before I left the hospital. I was sure glad that they had a catheter hooked up, because they were emptying it quite often. I didn't want any visitors either, just rest was all I wanted. Walking was a chore, but a necessary chore. If your doctor wants you to do rehab exercises do them, for sure. I did my 36 outpatient visits and they let me know my progress on my last day. Much improvement.
Judi, Enjoy you time up north. A cabin on the lake sounds like fun. Just to and your DH, how nice.
Lois, Cornish game hens sound great. It's something I have completely forgot about. I haven't made them in over 40 years. I might have to sneek some in one day.
Maryz, Love you love story with Mr. Bill how sweet. We just recently got new recliners. I got mine motorized and love it. DH said he didn't one that type but now I think he regrets not getting it. Yes my DS2 is a fighter. He better keep up the fight I couldn't stand to loose him. I only had the 2 boys.
Valerie, We wash our sheets on Sunday's too. First thing in the morning is sheets in the washer. Hope your enjoying retirement.
Today I'm making spaghetti for dinner. It's been so hot lately that I never felt like making it, but it's finally cooling off at least in the morinings. So I planned it for today and does it ever smell good. Garlic bread and a small salad and I'm a happy gal.
Tina, Your BBQ sounds like heaven, mexican food...I mean realy mexican food delicious.
Prayers for all that need them.
Joan
