Good morning I slept late today we didnt get up til 730 usually up between 530 and 6, I did finish the basement yesterday it is all clean...then my ADD kicked in and I pulled out all the bins of fall decor. hung a wreath on the front door and started going through the fall stuff. I dont do Halloween but I will put fall stuff out around labor day, I have a towel from my friend that says "I was the good witch yesterday...sorry you missed it:" I laugh every year when I hang it in my kitchen. The coming of fall always puts me in a good mood. I like summer but I am not a sun bunny and the mosquitos drive me indoor more often than not, So the cool nights with the windows opened and sweaters and jeans does something for me.
I did manage to get 2 candy cane blocks done yesterday and I have to say they are challenging,,sewing tiny one inch pieces..and I need 8 of them, I am hoping the other blocks as less challenging,,
We are headed out to breakfast and the grocery store and to Menards for Ken to find handles and knobs for his bar cabinets, I will do some laundry when we get home supper is up in the air...maybe coney dogs or burgers,,,or what ever pops out of the freezer. Hope you are all having a good morning and a great day,,,
Chris today is another recovery day, I hope they have gotten you out of bed and up for a stroll.
Diane Hope your doing ok and Letting God handle it.
Flo Glad your son came through ok and prayers he finds the job of his dreams soon.
Lois sounds like your in a good place today me too...

Good morning,

LOIS - I hope your house chores don't take up the entire day. I want you to have time to play!

TINA B - You had a lot going on yesterday at your house with all the machines running. The sound of the dishwasher always makes me feel like the housework is done and everything is clean - even if that's not true! we are wineaux, too. oakey, buttery chardonnays (our fave is Dark Horse yellow label) and cabs, zins, red blends, etc. Thurston Wolfe is our favorite winery. We belong to the wine club there. The owner/winemaker is half scientist, half artist, half magician.

JOAN - your garden sounds like it was a producer for you! I still love veggie gardens though I haven't had one myself in many years. I have 2-1/2 acres but it's all tall timber (fir, cedar, hemlock) and brush. Not enough sunlight and I'm not willing to trade my trees for carrots and beans. But I love all the gardens other folks have. I remember when you lost your son. My heart bled for you. I hope you are doing OK now. It's not something you get over - you just learn to live with it. And didn't you meet my DH, Bill, at Houston quilt fest once about 10 years ago? He attended with me once and I think he said he met you in the lunch area, but I was still out on the vendor floor and missed you.

LORI - I agree - that BeWitched pattern was a fabric waster. I won't be making it again. But the quilt turned out pretty cute.

VAL - prayers for your DGD. Is she the one expecting a new baby? Some people just seem determined to make bad choices in life. Are your trip plans still a go as far as you know? Yesterday we finally decided to postpone our trip.

MQ - you are so right - about our prayers here in our forum. I don't think it really matters to God what religion we are - as long as we believe. What's happening in your sewing room today? Or is it chore day?

JANA - sounds like all your family are having one last summer blast! Wish I were out on the ATV's with Matt's family! They are so much fun!

FLO - all good news about your son. I hope he continues on the road to recovery and can get back to life soon. I hope your son can find a non-driving job. Sounds like it would be much better for his health, and for his family.

DIANE - prayers going with you on Sept 4th.

JUDI - How is VC coming along? You have enticed me so much I got my kit back out of the trailer and have been studying the booklet. No sewing - not for a while anyway. Just petting the fabrics and I'll probably watch some -tutes soon. I am ready to put out some fall stuff, too. I was thinking about that yesterday. Though I don't really have much fall decor - a couple quilts and a couple glass pumpkins is about it.

CHRISS - My dear friend, one of these days you'll be able to be back with us and here is a message of love and friendship for you to find when you do.

And speaking of Chriss, I did send her a text yesterday and she responded with a single imogee! I was so excited!

And with this new thing going on with my back, I'm not doing so well. So we've reluctantly decided to cancel our travel plans. Not to mention the problem with our trailer slide motor hasn't gone away so Tuesday morning Bill is taking it to LaGrande, OR where it was 'born' (we call it "The Mothership") and see if they can fix it. First thing in 35 years I've seen Bill give up on, but after spending $300 on parts and countless hours of working on it he says it's time to take it to the pros. But first, there's a lot of stuff we now need to UN-pack. Sigh. I'm waiting on my doctor to get back to her office which probably won't happen until Tuesday. I need to start lining up my ducks with hip replacements etc. Maybe we can still manage to at least go to Texas for a month or so in Dec or Jan. I haven't told the A-Team yet. Will do that today.

In the meantime, I have my CW pods almost done. Just have to iron the last 20. Then I'll start sewing them together in small sections of 6 to make them easier to do the handwork on them. The pods are 4" square. Not much else going on here.

We have friends in Olympia. He had surgery on his knee Aug 14 and is in a hip to ankle brace with no weight bearing for another month. And two days ago his wife broke her distal fibula (leg down towards the ankle). Now she is non-weight bearing for 6 weeks! Their DD is coming up from Oregon to help out for the weekend but when she goes home on Monday, we've offered to come assist with groceries, laundry, cleaning, driving to dr appts, etc. One more omen that tells us we need to postpone our travel plans.

That's all for now. I really need a shower. Everything is better after a hot shower.

Group hug!
mary z
P.S. My brother Gene is having surgery Sept 4 and he and my SIL, Terry, have set a wedding date - Oct 3rd. The family is having a small reception at their house. I'm probably not going to make it.

Good Morning Girls

Remember when it was so hot here that I was so looking forward to "sweater weather" Well, it's here!! Had to dig out pair of long pants and long sleeve shirt this morning! So I'm up and dressed and have the first load of laundry done and the first cup of coffee almost done!

Lois... Aren't those flamingo's just so cute! I have all mine fused and I should start stitching them and get going on it, but I go distracted by making somethings for my niece's bridal shower!! Doesn't getting a full night sleep make a huge difference in the day!

Flo... Would your son much rather have a job "off the road"? I know some guys just love driving those big trucks (that sometimes scare the bee-jeezus out of me). I bet his wife would like him to be closer to home! Sending prayers for quick healing for him. Will he have to go out on the road next week, or can he take a little time off?

Judi.... I'm so with you on the fall thing!!! I don't do Halloween either but have some fall decor I hang on my front door! My front door is all metal, so if I make a hanging for it, I just glue magnets on the back!! I used to have a towel that said "My house was clean yesterday, sorry you missed it" It's still the case 99% of the time!

Maryz... Yeh, I suppose I should do a few chores today, but mostly what is driving me crazy is the zillion different things--projects I have sitting around. I do have to duck out later and go check in Gracie the cat, make sure she has food. I'm so sorry to hear you have canceled your trip, but I think that it was a very wise decision! With being in so much pain and with the uncertainty of the slide etc. I was so looking forward to having you "stop by", but I totally agree---best to stay home and get those hips taken care of.

Valerie... How are you plans from your road trip? Have you decided to go ahead and venture out or stay close for Tony? It's going to take me a good week to get my house clean enough for company!    There's always room for more prayers--will send for you DGD.

Lori... Great minds think alike!! I too have "kits" in little boxes organized (well sort of) in the closet in my sewing room. The theory is, when I'm ready to start a new project I just can grab a little box. But There are so many I often just don't know which one to grab!! Thanks for the pattern! It's so sticking cute, I might have to go out to the LQS in my garage and put together for that one too!

Joan...Always good to see you peek in here! Since I moved from my big house/yard to a townhouse I can't have a real garden here--so I miss fresh tomatoes! Do you just freeze or do you can your beans! Back in oh about 1978 or so I canned beans in the pressure cooker--they were so good and got rid of that fuzz!

Tinab..... Ah another "wino"!!! I'm a cheap date, I grab the $7.00/bottle of Muscato when I'm in the mood for a glass of wine. My wine has to be "kool aid"!! Yes, we all have tension problems from time to time! What kind of new machine did you get? I often think of trading in my Janome Skyline 5 for a little bigger one, but then I have 6 other machines in the house, so I think I have enough!!

Chriss.... JUST IN CASE you feel like logging on for a minute today. We are all thinking about you and hoping that every day has you feeling better and better!! Tell Richard, thank you for keeping in touch!

Well, the washing machine has played its little aria to tell me it's time to throw in another load. After that I'll wash up a few dishes, then try to make sense of the mess I've made on my work table. I've been "commissioned" to make at least 15 little key-fobs on my embroidery machine for my niece Erin's Bridal shower, so I think I'll get those started today. Will definitely need more coffee.

Remember you all today with all good thoughts and prayers.

Good morning!

Oh it's beautiful outside. Nice and chilly. Window open weather.

Sarah will be down tonight to work on our JA quilt. We picked up her kit yesterday from the LQS. So we'll bag and label the pieces parts. Tonight Sarah's DH goes to what we call Geek night. A group of guys get together and play computer games. Sarah and I sew. While at the LQS, I got some fabric for a new Christmas tote. Fabric is a dark Christmas green, with little balls on silver strands that look like Christmas lights. I'm adding some Santa embroidery to the pockets. This is a project down the road, a bit.

So I need to tame OWL and get that in a manageable box, as not to mix up fabrics. I'm also helping a friend cut fabric for table runners for a upcoming wedding, that's happening in a few weeks. So there's some busyness on my agenda.

Time to feed here, Mr G is being his normal grumpy self today.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Great shoulders to cry on and great listeners.
TINA--any extra wine samples send them my way. LOL
LORI-- where can I see this bewitch pattern so I can avoid getting it?
MARYZ--hope the doctors office can get the doctor to order some kind of help until you cen see him
I'll be thinking of Gene on the 4th. Its the same day I hope to get all clear news from the op
MARYQ--you were super right with your saying prayers are all heard to GOD no matter what your religion calls HIM. I am so thankful for all the prayers that kept me in your thoughts during both my Hubby's bladder cancer and now my breast cancer.

Thank you for being a friend (love the golden girls)
Diane

Cool, and probably rain off and on today.

I didn't get here yesterday to post, but read everyone's while drinking a chardonnay last night. I like dry white wines.

Valerie, Prayers for DGD.
TinaB, What is the new machine?
MaryZ, Thank you for letting us know Chriss is doing Ok, even if it was only an emoji.
MaryZ, I'm sorry you have to cancel your trip. I hope the Dr can give you that shot sooner and you get some relief. The Mothership will get the slide fixed, but it's a pain to have to take it to them, I'm sure.

If you have a Bernina and want any new feet, get them before Sept 9th, that's when the tariff will take effect on them.

Yesterday didn't go as planned, but that's normal around here. I went down the Mtn to a Best Buy geek appt, with my old laptop. I quickly learned that it can't be updated to Windows 11. And the guy said that after October 15, he wouldn't advise using it online. Microsoft is pushing people to buy new. I then went to Transwest to get my calendar off the fridge, can't believe I forgot it. As I was leaving there, my DD1, Stacey called and said she had found a used car. Don't remember if I told y'all, but the engine in her car is not worth fixing, she got good money from a place that came and got it out of her driveway. She's been driving our old Jeep for a couple weeks. So she had 2 cars to get back to her house. I followed her to her house and she parked the Jeep, then we went back to the dealer and she got her Honda. I didn't get up the Mtn until 8. Luckily dinner was leftovers. DGD and I will go after the old Jeep next week.

The weekend will be laundry and running the dishwasher. I hope to start the quilt pattern that my sister picked out last summer, but don't hold your breath on that getting done.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Prayers of healing and prayers for Gene's upcoming surgery and Diane a clear report.
Lyn

Good morning ladies, a bit late to the party today. Have been doing some chores, got the suitcase out and started packing. Clothes I am taking are all picked out. The laundry is done. Still needs to be folded. The gentleman is here to detail DH truck. He should be done in 30 min or so. I supposed to be at Open Sew but I will still get there.

DBIL says he is quite tired today. PET scan is scheduled plus a cardiology referral. They now feel the Colon Cancer has spread to his lungs. No word on complete treatment yet as they can do that until they get the biopsy back and the initial surgery is completed. I am trying to remain positive but deep down I believe this is not a curable situation. I think they will be able to control it for an undetermined amount of time but in the end it's a loosing battle.

Our weather is heating up again today. We will be into the 90's. AC has been on for several hours now.

Judy I am not much into Halloween anymore ever. The idiots out there you are putting drugs in candy, razors in apples, etc have really destroyed what was once a happy time for kids. WE don't even get trick or treaters anymore.

Trip plans are still ongoing. Mary my DGD is not the one having the baby. It's my granddaughter in law that is pregnant. And as far as I know still pg. This GD is my daughter's daughter. She has hooked up with a guy that has already showed violence towards her older dog and has a background of violence. I had hoped when he threw the dog she would leave him but no such luck. So many things going on in my life I think the trip will be really helpful. Once I get back, I will focus on setting up a routine schedule to go care for my DBIL and figure out what can happen when I am not there. So sorry you have to postpone yours.

Maryq I am still coming and the house does not have to be "Clean for Company". I am coming to see you and not your house.

It seems odd not to have Chriss posting. I wonder how Moose is doing? Hope her Dad is able to manage all of this. He is in his 80's I think.

Well, I should get a few more things done and find the checkbook to pay this guy. Saw this saying today, I think it's true.

A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.

Prayers for all in need.

Good Evening everybody,

Today was another nice weather day for us here in Indiana. Doors and windows open. Even the dog slept in this morning until 7:10 which is late for her and I.

Maryq, I had to wear a long sleeve this a.m. when I took Ms. Carly out to potty. My garden isn't that big it's about a 4'w x 8' L x 3'h steel raised bed we have it against the house on the south side where it gets all the sun. I do can my green beans. a few years ago I tried freezing some local grown corn but I didn't care for it frozen. I buy local corn and can that too. I do have some tomatoes left from last year that's frozen. I plan on making spaghetti sauce and canning that too. I'll put meat in so I will have to pressure can it.

Maryz, Yes I did meet your DH Bill at the Houston show. I think we were both at the Q-Bot booth. He was so nice. I sure did miss seeing all of you. My girlfriend didn't want to go to the lunch room so I missed meeting all of you.

Chriss, I do hope to see you back to posting very soon. When I had my OHS surgery I did bring my phone and tablet but I really couldn't concentrate very well, so I wasn't on it much. Prayers for you to have a quick recovery. That's a pretty intense surgery to have. I wasn't scared going in but when I saw everything that I was hooked up too when I woke up I was in for a big surprise. yeah speachless and for me that's really something. Lol

Valerie, I continue to pray for your brother. Cancer treatments have really come a long way. My 2nd son has been fighting the fight for almost 3 years now. He's finally gaining some weight back. He has it in his groin, back, lungs. His feet itch terrible from the treatments. For the past year each pet scan has came back with no new growth. There not calling it remission yet but he's doing so much better. I continue to pray.

Hope all of you have a wonderful Veterans Day and are able to enjoy the weekend.

Prayers for all in need,
Joan
