The idiom "tickle your fancy" likely originated in 17th century England. "Tickle" then meant to touch lightly, causing laughter or pleasure, while "fancy" referred to liking or affection. Therefore, "tickle your fancy" initially suggested something that lightly pleased or amused your liking.
