Morning
Still no date from roofers, they are waiting for materials. Another storm later thus week with high winds predicted, hopefully tarps don't get ripped off again.
I have the 2 hawaiin shirts deconstructed, niw to start laying out bears.
New stove hooked up and it's great to bake again.

Good morning,
LOIS - how is your hubby feeling? It can get hot in upstairs rooms. Sitting in front of a fan really helps. Sitting in front of a fan wearing a wet tee shirt is bliss on super hot days if you have no AC. Truly. Try it.
JANA - your explosion even made our local news. Do they know what caused the accident that caused the explosion? I feel for Kate with her morning sickness. I was fortunate to not be bothered much by it but both my girls were sick every day for 9 months.
FLO - I didn't know you got a new stove, too. You and Chriss can compare new stove notes. Hope this new storm holds off until that roof is finished.
CHRISS - I love your haircut so it it was an oops, it was a good oops! Maybe a happy accident? I can't wait to see Amara's Baby Clothes quilt either! I wish I'd hurry up and get it done! Have you given up on trying to evict the squirrels?
LORI - so?? Did you really clean your fridge yesterday? I looked in mine. Rearranged some stuff. Ate some things. But I cleaned toilets instead.
MARY Q - You better be careful or you will have those pencil cases finished before you fly! And no, other than hitching up to push back to allow us room to get our trailer in and out when we went to Walla Walla, the kids haven't had their trailer out on the road yet except to bring it home from the dealer. They've been busy moving their stuff in and outfitting it and their truck with needed things like water hose, tools, tool boxes, mud flaps, and more. It's time for a real shake down. What time is your flight? You are going to a hotel near the airport tonite?
LYN - The older we get the more prepared we are for surprise changes in our plans. I hope you get your full two months in Canada. I woke up at 3:30 with Texas on my mind.
There was no going back to sleep. It's nice that you met up with a friend and got to have some good girl chat. And yes, we always call the first time out a 'shake down', too.
VAL - nice to have that room cleaned out. My fabric storage has oozed into the (quilting) room across the hall. I have 3 totes full under the LA.
JUDI - If you check in, I hope you are having a great vacation! Is it peaceful where you are? I've never heard of that game before but we both love games and always love learning new ones. Nice that your house is so well stocked.
Yesterday I spent another two hours in our bathroom. I've scrubbed the heck out of everything in that room! Then washed rugs, swept family room, cleaned up our supply of cardboard boxes collecting in the garage, organized all the Christmas shopping I've been doing all year long, did a little sewing, put some things away in the trailer, and made orange chicken for supper. I've got to stop taking my vitamins. They're giving me more energy than my old body can handle!
Today, maybe I'll clean that fridge. Problem is - I end up eating things just to 'clean it up'. I hope to get more done on my ABC quilt, and start making a list of things to do, food to buy for the big potluck gathering here on Friday. Plus our Oregon friends will be here for 3 nights. More food to make, though maybe we'll go out one night. It's been busy times here lately!
Praying for all those affected by the Texas floods. It's unimaginable.

Re: Monday July 7, 2025
Good morning and Happy Monday! I can say that cuz I don't work anymore!
Jana I heard some vague information about the explosion, I have taken to not watching much news as it is just too depressing. Hope the water is not contaminated. Any word yet on what caused it?
Lyn I don't remember having much morning sickness but those were the days of saltines next to the bed. Eat some before getting out of bed. Not real sure that actually worked. Can't picture someone holding a baby while hula hooping, I will have to google that.
Chriss I don't do well in 90* weather, thank you Jesus we don't have many 100* days here. It is 55* here, or so the weather report says, and getting to 70*. I have the front and back doors open and will leave them that way until I leave for LQS. Think I will chance no AC today. I don't like to run it with nobody home but don't like to come home to a hot house either. The air is quite still this AM. Almost earrily so. Sounds like the fireworks were fun. I can remember when the kids were small, we always went to the shows. We have pretty much given up on the peach tree. Just can't keep the leaf curl away. My fridge is not too full right now. It still needs cleaned out though. Praying that all your appointments come out wonderful. By the way, there is a reason I don't go to salons, they don't know what two inches is. Hence I have very long hair.
Maryq thanks so much for offering to protect my stash over at the warehouse. Afraid to look online, don't want to be broke before I get there.
Maryz I am not as excited as maybe I should be. It actually feels a bit more overwhelming. I haven't had a real vacation is so long. Haven't been to the East coast since my son was 4ish. He is 52 this year. A little meloncholy also. My parents and most of my ancestors are from the East coast (welll after they came from Europe) I remember being in Pensauken NJ as a small child. Catching fire flies, playing under the cherry tree. I heard a report just within the last few days that the fire fly population is dwindling. That is very sad. My DH has never seen one so I hope there is one or two remaining. It may be too late in the year though. I was thinking I should start going through cupboards and whatnot before I go. You get so much done in a day. I wish my stupid back would let me do all that. Changed the sheets the other day, down for the count!
Flo I think a lot of Construction stuff is a little harder to come by these days. We are having to wait 6 - 8 weeks for the shell for the back of DH truck. Hoping it get in before we leave.
Judi so they say it's not about winning, it's how you play the game. That saying always reminds me of one time at a scouting event I took my team of Webelos. It really was for actual boy scouts but webelos are invited. There of course is a contest of which Webelos are not given any advantage. The scout master came to me one meeting and said "they need to learn to do lashings". Me "What's a lashing?" Well we figured it out, and they won. I had to let them know that this time "it is about winning". They also won the spirit award which is a very high honor. Yep, I cried through the whole presentation. Best group of Webelos I ever had.
Well time for me to start getting the car loaded. I have to go to the bank, get gas and drop some stuff off at the second hand store before I go to the LQS. It is Kansas Troubles today and tomorrow.
Prayers for Texas.

Good morning!
Getting hotter each day for a time, but the monsoons will help cool us down and give us some much needed rain.
Yes, I got the rest of the story of the explosion yesterday. Aaron indeed was called out and worked from just before 11 pm to 6 am. It was your standard run the red light at high speed, t-bone another car, that then careened into a third car, which then nailed the building and the gas meter, square on. The set of stores, the Domino's was in the center was destroyed completely. Two bystanders, who were the pizza store managers, had just finished cleaning for the day, and just turned the key locking up, the front entrance when the incident occurred. They ran and pulled out two people from the burning car, saving them.. Extensive burns took place, so Aaron had to setup the landing zone for the two life flight helios called in. Medical on the ground finally waved off the hellos and ground transported the victims. There were several more injured as well. Now the fire consumed the pizza shop, no pun intended, and the local gas company couldn't shut off the pipe feeding the flames. The closest shut off for the pipe was several blocks away and even when that was shut off, the remaining fuel in the pipe between there and the building would have to be burned off, before fire got everything out. So, out came the city excavator and dug up the park strip on the edge of the main drag to expose the feeder line to the shops. That took a bit of time, so 60 firemen were kept busy pouring water to somewhat contain the flames. Finally around 4 am, the fire was out. The accident investigation team, then started their work of laser mapping the entire scene. Aaron is on that team. So after church, being the curious looky loos we are, drove past the incident. We have a first hand look at what a bunker buster bomb site would look like! My oh my! A well that supplies water to the city is housed in the end of those buildings and wasn't damaged, so no water issues. So now, everyone is studying the mapping and determining fault, with possible criminal charges being brought. Charges could be worst, if not for the heroic effort saving the two people in the flaming car.
Today is laundry, just a couple of loads and tidying up around here. Emma's off, Ethan, Tanner, Logan and Joseph too. The boys are looking forward to a breakfast stop up in Idaho, donuts. They know a store that makes huge square yummy donuts, so are stopping there just before they get to camp. Andrew is north and east of the flooding. I get a letter today from him. Monday is his p-day. That stands for preparation day for the week. Writing home, cleaning the apartment, laundry, and grocery shopping. Andrew and his companion are the only two in the apartment. The Ward members feed them dinner every night, so the only cooking they do is a simple breakfast and maybe lunch.. Andrew and his companion are gone from the apartment all day, until around 9 pm. Out working, talking and teaching gospel principles to many.
I'm being tempted by a new Kimberbell bench pillow. Its for Valentine day and is the complete kit. But is outrageous in price, even at the sale price. It's a pre-order to be shipped in November. And I'm not sure if there's a embellishment kit that is needed, that's extra.
Breakfast time is fast approaching to feed Mr G, he has a schedule. I got all the meds out and dispensed for the next 2 weeks. That's a chore!
Do fun stuff,
Hugs,
Jana

Good day to everyone.
Valerie, Lol, you misunderstood the hula hoop info. The man had it around himself and was holding it out in front of himself. The baby was in front of him and holding it to steady himself to walk. There was no roundy round going on.
We went fishing for a couple hours, not far from the Resort. Zero bites. Friends went out west several miles, but didn't have much luck either.
It's supposed to rain this afternoon and I can see by radar that it's moving quickly. Probably not a fishing day. I have dishes to do and a load of laundry. Hopefully some sewing. It's raining at our house in Texas, again. Neighbor had told me they had gotten 4" , but that was a couple days ago.
Jana, Thanks. You reminded me that I have to count pills, too.
Hope your day goes well.
Lyn

Re: Monday July 7, 2025
Good morning Girls
Oh such a lovely day!! Up showered and dressed and am thinking it's about time I pack my suitcase, so that's the plan for the day!
Lois... No central air? I can only imagine how hot it gets in your upstairs. A fan sounds like a great idea. I even brought one in from my garage when I didn't really need to have the AC on but just to move the air when I had to close windows so the rain didn't come in. Hope the fan helps so you can get your butterfly quilt done---it's so pretty!!
Judi.... Have you ever heard of "Kings Crowns" ? It's a card game we played the other night--super easy and fun. I found it on Amazon and was thinking about getting it when I go to AK so I can teach Eli card games so he doesn't so attached to his IPad! Can you play "Play 9" with just a regular deck of cards? I used to play Rummy with my Grandmother and is still have such wonderful memories of that.
Flo.... LOVE your new stove!! Have you always cooked with gas? What is it about a new stove that just makes us want to bake a batch of cookies!!
Maryz.... Putting the pencil cases aside for now. I might be able to sneak in some sewing time today after I run to the bank and PO. Flight leaves MSP at 6:30pm tomorrow. Evie will give me a ride to a hotel 2 miles up the road and I can catch the shuttle there. Flight arrives in AK at 9:30 (3 hour time difference) so 6 hour flight. I'm bringing a book and some yarn and crochet hook. Not fun to sit for 6 hours straight without doing something!!! Hope they kids have a great trip with their new home. What vitamins do you take? I want some of that energy!!
Valerie... Go ahead and check out the web site for the fabric warehouse. They don't do online sales so you won't be tempted to order ahead of time. At the Brooklyn Park location, you cut your own fabric--up to 5 yards--over that someone has to cut it for you. If you love batiks, wait until you see their batiks---net price about $9./yd!
Chriss.... Love the new hair cut!! But boy I can relate! Last time I got my hair cut it got really short!!! Not as short as Jamie Lee Curtis--but short! Some areas I can't even get a small curling iron around!! But like you say, it grows. Elliot is getting to a fun age--but then isn't any age (except teenager) a fun age!
Jana.... Oh my gosh.... what a disaster that accident was! So many more could have been hurt. I wonder who will be held liable for the accident? Prayers for those effected. Good news tho that it didn't contaminate your water supply!
Lyn... Hope you get to stay in Canada as long as you would like.
Guess I better get in gear. Need to start packing--all the while reminding myself not to take TOO much. Jen does have a washer/dryer and there are Target, Walmart, Kohls and Fred Meyer if I absolutely need something. I hate carrying a heavy suitcase and if it gets too heavy it costs extra or I have to take stuff out! I'll to weigh it on my bathroom scale before I go!
I'll see you all tomorrow morning!
In the meantime, keep cool and Hydrate!

Good morning. It's really heating up out there. We will see triple digits for a while. I think 104 is supposed to be the hottest.
Went for my walk this morning and in a few minutes will start my day. Nothing exciting planned but I could use some salad fixin's, so I do need to head to the store. I have a few misc chores to do if I want to but nothing that can't wait.
Lois, have your son put the a/c in and enjoy that quilting machine. If you need the cool it will be there at the flick of a switch.
Judi, I'm glad you're having a fun time.
Flo, yay for a new stove, I love mine. Only used the oven once, I'm more of a stove top cooker than a baker.
Maryz, I need to take a room a week and really do some serious cleaning. Or not. My fridge is pretty empty, I don't cook big meals so don't have a lot in there. But, you could have refrigerator pot luck and whatever isn't eaten gets tossed. I sseem to only have a few squirrels, every so often I will see one run across the front yard with a plum in it's mouth. I think the heat will pretty much keep them from coming out of their holes and I will give them another cocktail.
Valerie, I remember the first time I saw fireflies. Jerry and I went to visit his family in Illinois. His uncle had a corn field that had stalks not quite a foot tall and in the evening all these lights rose from the ground flittering everywhere, I was amazed and they were all amazed at my reaction. Hope your DH gets to see them, they are really neat. I have a programable thermostat that I could, if I downloaded the app, control from my phone. I just set it at about 77 degrees and leave it on. My peach tree also gets leaf curl. It's a peach/apricot all on one tree and this year provided no fruit. It along with the plum and pear trees are being neglected by me and will be replaced with something fruitless.
Jana, glad Andrew is doing well. That was quite an ordeal for your town, the explosion, crazy how one person not following the rules can change the lives of so many.
Lyn, I was excited for you that you got to go fishing but you didn't get any. Drat! Glad the hula hoop thing didn't mean I had to do a roundy, roundy.
Maryq, happy packing. I know a couple who went to Vietnam and each only took a backpack. They had their clothes washed when they stayed someplace and they bought almost no souvineers. Not sure I could do that. When we used to go places I always overpacked.
Lori, what are you up to today?
Last night dinner was a hamburger, tonight dinner will be a leftover hamburger. I know, exciting right?? I have a jigsaw puzzle coming from Amazon today, I will start putting it together, and that will be all the excitement from here.
You all have a fab day

Maryq, what's the weather like in Alaska? I figure if I don't bring it, I don't need it.
Lyn, a rainy sewing day sounds perfect.
Jana, what a mess that must have been. Glad Andrew is north of the flooding.
Valerie, planning a big trip is a lot of work. Have fun at sew day.
Maryz, yes! The fridge got done. I did it right after I logged off yesterday. It amazes me how dog hair gets in the bottom back of the fridge. Do they sneak in there at night?
Chriss, sounds like you had a good time at the fireworks show. Oh yes, haircut measurements are far different than actually measurements. I always say the minimum and it come out right. Otherwise they take off 3-4 inches. It's crazy. I got my haircut last week as well.
Yes, I did clean the fridge. It's nice and pretty for a few days anyway. It only got up to 84 yesterday so we didn't turn on the A/C. That's always a good thing for me. Today should be another nice day before the heat comes in on Tuesday. I love having the house opened up. I might do a couple more windows today. I have to wait for the sun to move before I do them. I had some extra 2 1/2 inch strips leftover from another project, so I cut them to make log cabin blocks. My guild is collecting them to make charity quilts. So I'll make some of those when I feel the notion. I didn't get the binding done. Waiting for a day when the A/C is running. It's to warm to have a quilt in my lap. I need to get groceries today, so that will determine dinner.
Have a lovely day.
