Post by grammiequilts » Wed Jul 02, 2025 4:44 am

Good Morning,,It is sunny and another warm day. I need to go to Target and Carters to find my great grandaughter River Lynn a birthday gift...An outfit and a toy will be my goal..maybe some art supplies or and outdoor toy. She has a ton of toys but it is fun to open new ones for your birthday, and a new outfit for preschool in September, I cant believe she is 4 already,,
I took out all the clothes fr the trip and will decide if I really need all of it, there is a washer and dryer at the house. (but I really dont want to do laundry the week we are there, I know I will take some hand sewing and 2 books I want to read. I dont have any audio books right now...I need to search some up. Colleen will be off the whole week so Im sure she will find things to do besides riding the jet ski Shopping with her and Sophia is on my list. Jeff will be working from the house,,,( he is a workaholic anyways) Ken will relax and try not to fix things...or golf with Liam and Nolan.
Just when you think everything is cool...Kens back is so much better but now he has a very mild case of shingles..Went to the Dr yesterday and was put on meds...He just has a few spots that do not hurt or itch or anything,,,But the chiropractor will not see him till the outbreak goes away,,,hope his back stay better with out the chiro.
Im off to get coffee and maybe some toast. Hope your day is uneventful...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning,

Today our grandson, Alec, is turning 28 years old. Where does the time go? I'm off to the dentist again this morning. As the receptionist said in my reminder text yesterday, third time's a charm! Just an odd note, the receptionist, who plans to retire in a year, was a high school friend of the daughter of the former owners of our house, and has been here many times - 45 years ago - and knew our neighbor, Vicki, very well. Our world is small!

CHRISS - Your dad and you have a great plan - you hang out with Judy and clean their house so he can get away to his fireman's breakfast, and he comes to your house and fixes stuff. Have you decided on the color of countertops you want? I hope you get your test results soon. We used to have Patient Portal at our old doctor and I could never get into it, but at our new medical center we use My Chart. Much easier.

LORI - Where did your niece move from? Missoula is a nice town. Bill's brother lived there for years. We've been there many times. What kind of puppy did your niece get?

LYN - sorry your birthday didn't go exactly as planned. But I hope you were able to make up for that the next day! Mandolin music is so pretty. My BFF used to have one but I don't think she ever played it. Just loved owning it.

MQ - I'll be wishing your grands good happy luck! Everyone I know has cried all the way home after dropping their kids off at college. I sure did! And My BFF did, too. Only her son went to college 300 miles away. She cried for 6 hours! I only cried for 2. So, has the packing started yet?

VAL - your quilt is lovely! I really like that design. And now I remember why the baby quilt. You mentioned it a month or two ago but I guess I forgot. But it's all coming back now. Pinwheels! In all different colors? or same colors?

JANA - so sorry the kitty was gone when Karlie got there. I thought they had a 'hold' on her. But things happen how they are supposed to if you let them. I bet there is a pair of kittens out there someplace with Karlie's name on them! And if she's really lucky they will be black and white tuxedo kittens! :D Hmmm.... fox or coyote? Mangy doesn't really describe a fox so I'm going with a coyote. We catch them on our security cameras going through our yard occasionally. Now that your BIL has a second diagnosis - and is he certain which one is the correct one? - will he be getting treatment in CA?

FLO - glad the storm moved off. Hopefully that roof will get put on before the rains come back. Is there another VA center your DH can go to? I know from our friend, a retired military doctor, that some VA's deny benefits, while another one will treat. At least that's the way things used to happen.

JUDI - I can't believe River is already 4 yrs old! New toys are fun! Sidewalk chalk is great. I plan to order some sewing cards for Amara for Christmas. She was interested in watching me hand sew last winter when I was mending some curtains for Mommy. You will have fun at the lake. I'm looking forward to it for you! How is your son who fractured his collar bone?

Yesterday I made Christmas swap blocks. We are up to 7 blocks now, with 6 days left to sign up. I know a couple people said they are still 'thinking'. I also got two placemats quilted and bound and the other four are sandwiched, ironed, and pinned. They go quickly, so I might get them all done this afternoon after my dental appt. But we also need to go to Costco today. And regular grocery. We don't need much, but we we have company coming for the Fourth.

I think dinner tonite might be a charcuterie board. L&L say they did this once a week for supper when they lived in Alexandria and they plan to bring one over tonite. So - I have olives, cheese, crackers, and salami to contribute, and I'll get some berries and nuts today. Usually we don't do suppers together but they do like charcuterie. And they bought us a nice board with a cover. Last night they gave Bill a Blackstone Grill for an early birthday present. We've learned we have to be very careful about admiring things they have because they go out and buy it for us!

Yesterday I filled 5 bobbins. I'm good to go for a while now. How about you?

Morning
Maryq, Joe is a retired deputy from San Bernardino County. The insurance before you turn 65 will take his entire retirement check. So i was affordable care(which is not cheap) and he uses VA.
Maryz, the VA he uses here is much better than CA, and better than Arkansas which is next closest. The doc there thinks a shoulder on an "old guy isn't very budget friendly. This surgeon actually said he would be worse after shoulder. A neighbor is older than us his shoulder was worse and had full recovery from surgery. So we wait.
Hopefully today is last day on roof for us. One more storm repair and it's a smaller one, then tar paper and tarps for us. Prayers are helping please keep them coming. I want TO SEW!
Flo

Good morning!

A lovely day has started here. I can see that Mr Sun just peeked over the mountains. We'll be hot too.

Daniel's irrigation main valve broke,, so Karlie has the job of a hose puller. Translation - in fireman terms, drag the hose around. Karlie will get to play in the water with a garden hose, so the lawn gets a drink at the same time. Still keeping a eye out for a kitty. There are many in the shelters.

It's burn down the state season. Fireworks are legal to light and shoot off , now until the 6th. Hopefully those near me, heed the law and don't, as we are in a no firework zone, because of the horse field. My side of Herriman is mostly horse properties, so there are restrictions. Mr G is bringing up my patriotic decoration box. Daniel said I can hang my bunting from the deck, as I usually do. It won't be in his way.

I got much accomplished yesterday. I needed to call and get Mr G's meds ordered, and called about my social security. It was approved back in May, but I haven't seen it yet. Usually when I call, I leave a message and they get back to me. Surprise, I talked to a very nice person on the first try! And benefits were deposited to my bank! So that is now all good. She even answered some miscellaneous questions. So I have my to do list ready for today. Only a couple of things, then down to play in the Batt Cave. Sarah will be by as she's packing for their camping trip. She needs to get the mattress topper from here. We no longer need it and her trailer bed does!

Time to get going on trouble getting into,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

A little noisy around my house this morning.. The lawn crew is here! With a break in the rain they are finally able to come and mow our lawns! So far I have the windows open, but I have a sneaky feeling it's going to get warm this afternoon and I might have to turn on the AC after all.

Judi... OH no... Ken has shingles? Did he get the shingles vaccine? I got them when I was working, but wonder if they actually totally prevent shingles or just make them less painful etc! I hope he feels better soon! River is 4??? Oh my gosh, where did that time go!!!

Maryz.... Not packing just yet, I think I'm going to have to do another couple loads of laundry, and I'm kind of waiting until the last minute so that I don't leave a hamper full of dirty clothes while I'm gone. I bet Bill will love that Blackstone Grill! Shawn uses his all the time! And just an FYI you can find a lot of the accessory pieces on Amazon! Must have been bobbin filling day--I did 4 and went through two of them making pencil cases! And for a minute I thought buying pre-wound bobbins would be a great option!

Lois....Poor Bill, now he has gout? Years ago, I bought myself a walker, when I was having trouble with my knee--not one with the seat, but a decent one. It's been great to have on hand for backup! Now that you have your butterfly quilt done, what's up next?

Flo.... Please Give Joe a big hug and thank him for his service. They way things are in CA these days I bet he's glad he's retired!! A friend of Viv's goes to the VA in Wisconsin with varying results, but I guess now she is able to go to a regular Dr, and the VA will pay for. Tho some clinics are reluctant to take on VA patients as they don't feel like the VA is going to reimburse them! I hope Joe can hang in there until his Medicare Ins. kicks in!!

Jana... Yeah for getting to talk to someone at SS!!! I almost fall off my chair if I get a human being on the phone any more. Utah only allows fireworks for 4th of July? I don't mind them too much, except when people shoot them off all night. MN has restricted laws, but it's really kind of silly, because folks on this side of the state just drive over to Wisconsin- about an hour drive- and get everything!!!

Lori.... Montanna is a lovely state!! When I went out for my uncle's memorial service in '21, I rented a car and drove around through really pretty areas. Thought for a minute that I could live there, but then I remembered that they have really nasty winters and I changed my mind.

Chriss... Corian counters sound lovely!!! I might have to put them on my list to check out when I am able to do new counters here. I think that's what my BFF in MO went with it. I'm guessing your Dad really loves puttering around at your house and finding projects to do. Cherish every minute!!

Just checked and my sewing machine is all ready to go, so think I'll get butt in gear and run up to St. Cloud to pick it up. Trying to think of anything else I need up there--about a 45 minute drive---just to make the trip worth while.

Hope you all can keep cool today... don't forget to hydrate!

Good morning. It's going to be a stay inside out of the heat day today. After a few chores I don't have any plans. Just wing it I guess.

Maryz, happy birthday to Alec. Nice that his parents are there to help in the celebration. I like your dinner idea, snacky things are perfect and filling, (can't spell charticure) I have no clue what color counters I am getting or anything else just yet. I haven't even gotten bids yet. I will choose a light color. As for my portal, I can access it on my phone and tablet, just not on my laptop. I am befuddled.

Maryq, seems like your machine was serviced quickly, yay you. Dad has specific plans for my house and sometimes he clues me in. I found out that Corian and Solid Surface are the way to go. They take the seams and do something so that it is seamless and water won't cause trouble the way it would with laminate. solid surface is one piece where laminate is a sheet glued on top of a board.

Judi, I am stunned that River is already 4. Seems like she skipped ages 1, 2 and 3. So glad Ken only had a mild case of shingles. Has he had his shingles shot? Funny, you pack and rethink what you packed and repack. Ken tosses a few pairs of underwear in a bag and is ready to go. It's been fun watching the two of you prepare for a trip over the years.

Lois, I've never had gout but don't want it. sure hope DH is all better soon. I'm getting a shirt I ordered from Amazon tomorrow so if you could give me the laundry room for just one load tomorrow I would appreciate it.

Flo, hoping all goes well with that roof and that the weather cooperates.

Jana, nice to talk with someone regarding SS. For me they were the easiest thing I dealt with after Jerry died. Hope the kids find the perfect kitty. I wish someone would just drop off a bunch of ferral cats and my dog would leave them alone.

Do you girls have these accident lawyers doing commercials on your tv's? They promise to get you millions if you are in an accident that is not your fault. We have one called Sweet James, another looks like Steve Urkle. I imagine people actually hire these people. It just amazes me that someone would hire someone called Sweet James.

Tonight is farmers market where I will buy 4 peaches, if there are 4 hard ones. I don't eat them very fast but love them. Then we go to dinner for $10 burgers. Each time we go to the restaurant I think about how I am going to have a milkshake, each time I only ask for water, and each time I am thankful that I didn't have tthat milkshake because I would be overly full. Tonight will be no different.

Guess if I don't get up and get moving I won't get anything done here, you girls have a great day.

Chriss, happy birthday eve. Will you be doing anything fun for your birthday tomorrow? We have feral cat in our neighborhood. They do help keep the rodent population down. I've seen those commercials too. We call them ambulance chasers. Their looking for easy money.

Lois, gout can be painful. My son gets it in his foot. Hope Bill can get something to help with the pain.

Judi, my grandma had shingles when Jonathan was 5. He got the chicken pox from her.

Maryq, I love a clean sewing machine. Did you think of something else you needle out that way?

Jana, I have to drag the hose around my parents backyard. Bill put in sprinklers in the front yard years ago, but they never had the back done.

Flo, I covered the insurance after Bill retired. It worked out better that way. Still expensive though.

Maryz, happy birthday to Alec. My niece moved from NorCal. She's been to Montana many times and got a job as a photographer for a big resort there called "Paws Up." She likes to be outdoors so it's a prefect place for her. She got an Australian Shepard. It is just the cutest thing. Her name is Sadie.

Lyn, hopefully you got dinner out last night to make up for the missed birthday one.

I have the sheet in the wash and need to vacuum. Also have more laundry, so that's what I'll do today.

Don't know what's for dinner yet.

Have a lovely day.
