Good morning

Congratulations Judi on getting your new machine enjoy Sophia's graduation and enjoy your machine on Sunday it is good to be you.

I'm in one of those no sew modes so I will enjoy doing nothing today.
Yesterday I turned my sewing chair on its back and cleaned the wheels I can't believe all the thread that was wrapped around them so after I did that I took a picture of it and took the pile of thread to show bill and sent the picture to Sandi she said now I have to see what mine look like

Well I'm going to get another cup of coffee and watch murder she wrote.

Good morning Lois and all Thank you. Now I have to go look at my wheels too.
I am headed to the grocery store by 8 this morning and then to the meat market by 9. After I put all of that away I will head over to the LQS to get my machine, then we have Sophias graduation form 8th grade,
Sophia is an honor student with already a high school math class under her belt. So we have high opes fpr her, She is a smart cookie.
Well I need coffee before i go. ken hopefully will work on the ice maker today...but I think he will go with me to the quilt shop.

Judi Yea! a new machine. Congratulations and good luck. I see you are busy today but maybe tomorrow you can bond with the new machine. And koodos to Sophia. I am sure she will do good things in life.

Lois uhm, maybe I should take a look at my wheels. I have two chairs, one is pretty new but the other is pretty old. Maybe that's why it doesn't move so good.

Lori Savanah Bananas, that is quite a name. I have a great niece named Savanah. I will see her for the first time on my trip in September.

Chriss what is DRAIL? I am going to try and do the mystery sew along. One of the shops I go to in Sacramento is also doing this mystery. I have my FQ's all pressed and ready to go. Probably won't keep up as I have some serious chores to do today but I think the clues will stay in their features tab.

Lyn a basting gun sounds like it could be good tool. I am ready to try and quilt my first little item but trying to decide on basting method. I bought some 505 glue stick but now wondering if that's a good idea.

We are 57 now but supposed to get to the high 80's, Big cool down tomorrow. I left the front door open most of the night. We have a security screen. It's still 71 in the house. I usually try to get to 70 or even 69 and then turn on the air.

Good morning!

Now I need to check the wheels on three sewing chairs! One shouldn't be too bad, it's my brand new chair the other two have been in the Batt Cave for awhile. And i now need to find a utility knife. Maintenance is a must, better check for dust in the bobbin case. There's a back area that gathers, even though I keep the area clean.

Not much here. The kids are enjoying Disneyland. So far the park crowds have been light, making ride wait times not too bad. It's party time at school for the others. Just marking time in class until Thursday.

I'm helping Mr G in the railroad area, organizing junk. I do mean junk! He gathers things that could be useful for the railroad, operative word, could. So I'm trying to dejunkify , that translates to throw away. I have to be stealth and sneaky. Right in my job description! I may get to sew some too. At least my stuff is in baskets, neatly hidden out of sight. Tee-hee!

LOIS - I clean my chair wheels now and then. What a mess of threads! You've reminded me it's time again, which means it's time to clean the vacuum roller bars again. Ugh. I haven't been sewing the last few days either. But I have been playing with my fabrics, sorting, purging the ugly stuff, refolding, etc.

JUDI - a big grocery shopping trip can take all day by the time you get it all put away, packaged for freezer, produce washed, etc. Congrats to Sophia! I can't believe she is graduating from eighth grade. It seems only yesterday you were so excited when she was born! She is going to do well through life, So happy your machine is finally here! Sunday is YOUR day! I will try not to bother you on Sunday!

LORI - I'm glad Bill is keeping on top of things re his health. He and I and probably half of America have the same back issues. And it's probably because he is so active that he is still walking upright. I should take a page from his book. Back surgery can become a rabbit hole. So how was the Savannah Bananas game? Is that a local ball club or a farm team for a major league team?

CHRISS - That book I mentioned yesterday on Alz is actually written by a family member of an Alz patient. I believe she is also a professional but it's written for family and friends and caregivers. It covers so many things but also explains why they do things. My DSIL insisted on wearing two bras. Because she had two boobs! From her perspective, it made sense. Glad your heart appt went well. I pray your echo on Monday shows all is well. My house needs some serious attention, too. Floors, bathrooms, furniture. But I'm just not feeling it, ya know what I mean? And Yeah, I accidentally flashed you yesterday, That's what happens if you let your finger linger on the color keys too long

LYN - hope you arrived in Hays with no problems or delays. And that a glass of wine was waiting for you at the end of the day. I can picture Minnie basking in sunshine on the dash. Not long ago we saw a german shepherd who had squeezed himself up on the dash, snoozing away! lol! Usually it's cats and small dogs. I made my first quilt - or maybe it was more of a bedspread - in 1975 for 3 yr old Lara's first bed. It was pre-quited pink gingham and then I made three rows of ruffles cascading to the floor from matching pink gingham cotton. But my first real quilt was in 1987, when I cut apart a panel with blocks on it, sashed them, and then sewed them together. I tied that quilt and it went to my sister who eventually let it be a dog blanket. I didn't do a real pieced quilt (a Split Rail) until about 1993 - for Bill's dad. But he died just a few days before we were going to give it to him. Next was an attic window for Bill's mom and step dad. She never even unfolded it. She died 12 years later and we found it on a high shelf still in the plastic bag it was in when I gave it to her, still folded. I didn't have much luck giving away my quilts!

JANA - Your outfits for the anniv party sound purrfect! And peach is sort of almost gold. Maybe you should wear a tiara to complete the outfit, though. So did you finish Andrew's quilt yesterday? I recall when I made Autumn's Christmas stocking I was frantically cross-stitching it Christmas Eve night in the car as we were driving to Midnight Mass. I stayed up until about 2am to get the stocking assembled, lined, and finally FILLED. So I guess we are last minute twins!

VAL - I don't think I've ever known you to be working on just one project at a time! Seems like you've always got 3 or 4 in various, active stages of assembly. You mentioned your FGV II quilt. Do you plan to make the 6" or 12" blocks? Mine were 6". I worked from my stash of 30's fabrics. I have to say that quilt didn't even make a dent in that stash. Maybe I need to make some more! Oh, and your UGRR blocks are in the mail. I'm not sure why I ended up with two extras when I did my quilt, but now they are yours! I hope they arrive OK and don't get lost somewhere along the line. I know your mail sometimes goes astray. I also have a great niece named Savannah.

TINA - with all the painting, gardening, kids' games, and graduation hoopla, are you getting any time to sew?

I had my MRI yesterday. Turned out to be a piece of cake. I have one more set of blocks to put together that I made last winter in TX - 6" red/white Ohio Star blocks. I got them out last Wed along with sashing and border fabrics and I was pulling a white/red fabric out of my stash to use for binding and thought, "I needed to organize my reds better", and bidda, badda, boom - just that quickly, Ohio Star is on hold and I'm deep into going through ALL my stash! So far I've discarded an overflowing tote of "what was I thinking' fabrics", and have most of my stash neatly refolded, organized, and reshelved, I even have a little room for more!! I still have my Christmas fabrics to go through, which I have divided by color into 11 small plastic totes so I can lift them. I hope to finish up this project this afternoon and then start going through all my patterns. Bill finished quilting Star Silhouette and I think he will load up my GMFG (hexies) next. Supposed to be a rainy weekend and rainy weather is when he quilts. But first, this morning, we are going over to my cousin's. Her family put a big RV on her property for her slightly autistic adult granddaughter to live in but none of them know anything about RV's, so we've been asked to go over to hook everything up and show them the RV ropes. Otherwise, the rest of our weekend is totally free. Hopefully I will be done de-cluttering by Monday and back to working on my UFO's. The chicken noodle casserole I made yesterday turned out delicious. Bill said it was company worthy and went for seconds. Luckily there's enough to have tonite, too.

Good Morning Girls

Oh what a lovely day!! So nice to wake up to a sunny sky and "open window" temps!

Lois... OH my gosh, it must be ESP as I looked at the wheels on my chair yesterday and thought it's about time to clean out threads again!! Luckily I can take the wheels off my chair so I do that and sit and pick while I watch TV. You've been busy with your sunflowers so a "no sew" sounds like a good plan! I may have to join you in that today--as I look around here I see other things that need my attention!

Judi... 8th Grade Graduation?!!!! Oh my gosh, I remember Sophie in a snow suit when she was like 4 or 5!!! Is today the today? The machine comes home with you today? IF you'd like to share a picture of it all set up---let me know! I'd love to see it!!

Valerie.... You turn on your AC when it gets to 70? I wait until I get crabby, then I turn on the AC, usually when it hits about 82-86 in the house. My electric bill and natural gas bill both went up big time lately so I'm trying to be really careful! Do you ever use the 505 Basting Spray? That's my favorite, tho I have found a less expensive alternative that's not too bad. Can't remember the name of it, but it's a purple and white can and I think I got it on Amazon.

Jana... Take all that junk---put it one box with a label "COULD NEED" then when Mr. G is looking for an odd thing, just bring him that box. Hey now that I think about it--it sounds like my junk box! Doesn't every house have a junk box/drawer?

Maryz... Glad your MRI went well. When the results come back, it will be good to know what's really going on in there. My sis had an MRI for back/leg issues and that's when they discovered the mass near her upper femur. I found that book you mentioned on Thrift Books.com yesterday and ordered it for Peggy across the way from me. She does go to a support group but I thought this book might be helpful. Wait a minute---you sent me a book once... was it this one? Dang!
Now that you mention cleaning out the stash, maybe since it's a nice day I should go do a little re-con in my garage, it's been a while since I've been out there----the problem is.. I see stuff out there that I love and drag in the house and create another UFO pile!!!

Chriss... Glad to hear you enjoyed the Alz. class! Did they give you a list of resources you could share? I see Peggy across the street struggling with Gary. How did your appointment with the Dr go? Do you like him/her? Any plans for an EKG and/or stress test? I'm with you, I don't do heat well--not that I'm a fan of winter either. But when my eyelids sweat it's time to turn on the AC.

Lori... How was the Savanah Banana Baseball game? If nothing else, that's a cute name for a team!

After a quick shine up in the kitchen and maybe the bathrooms I think I will head out to the garage.... if I feel really ambitious I might haul out the vacuum and clean out my car. I'd love to have it detailed and totally cleaned up, but I think for now I'll do it myself. Might even take the car for a ride through the car wash!
Better make hay while the sun shines!!

Judi, Congratulations to Sophia!
I'm so glad you are getting your machine today. You will get to play with yours before I get to play with mine. Somehow that seems fair since you technically bought yours first. I don't usually name my machines, though I did name my HQS16, Holly, because it was delivered just before Christmas. Maybe I will name the 570QE Judi, in honor of you putting me onto the idea of a new machine. Thanks again for doing that.

MaryZ, I made Kaylyn and Layne Jungle Song baby quilts and Stacey wouldn't use them because she didn't want anything to happen to them. Made me a little sad.

Lois, I don't have to worry about thread build up on my wheels right now. I bought the skate wheels for my chairs, to protect my new floor even though it has a guarantee for regular chair wheels.

Valerie, my go to is 505 spray and if it’s a big project I add a few safety pins for good measure.

To all who have been having tests and Dr appts, I pray there will be answers and easy fixes.

We arrived here about 3:30 yesterday. Had a chance to relax in the shade before Amanda and Maddox came over. We went out to dinner, which didn't go well. Maddox had to be taken to the car and I had their food boxed up to take home. Amanda and Maddox could use some prayers. I'm concerned about Maddox and his behavior.

I'm not sure what we will do today. Hopefully Maddox will be in a good mood.

Good morning. It's going to be a stay inside with the air conditioning on day today. My goal is to clean the house. I just know the reason the furniture is higher off the ground is because of all the dog hair underneath lifting it up. It's been a while since I've looked.

My heart doctor appointment well. I'm wearing a monitor for two weeks. They want to do an echocardiogram and had an opening in July. I asked that they call me if they had a cancellation, they looked and had a cancellation for Monday. Yay me. I'll get it done on Monday. I did fail to ask about pre authorization but they will know how to bill it so it goes through or I will reschedule. I'm not worried and feel great.

Lori, Bill and I are heart monitor twins. The Bear Creek mystery starts at 8am. I think it's 6 FQ's so it will be a small project. I'll check it out on FB. I'll probably wait till the end and see if it turns out to be something I want to do. I'm just not very mysterious. I've heard of the bananas, is it a new thing or have they been around for a while. Was it like the Harlem Globetrotters

Lois, thread, like dog hair, just is everywhere. You will roll around in that chair a lot easier now that the wheels are cleaned. I like Murder She Wrote, and Columbo too. Sadly they don't make shows like that anymore.

Judi, what a fun day for you. So much going on. Give Sophia an extra squeeze from me. I'm also proud of that girl. I still picture her sitting on your counter helping make something in your kitchen. She is growing up really good. Happy new machine day. I hope your new toy is everything you hoped it will be.

Valerie, DRAIL (disability resources independent living) They help seniors with things and one of those things was to partner with PG&E and offer free power supplies, not sure if that is still a thing. They offer things like help with home repairs, transportation and stuff. I'll also fall behind in the sew along, and housework will be my reason. Enjoy your 80's, today we are supposed to see 105

Maryz, I have always admired how you can just switch gears so quickly. From Ohio stars to reds, impressive. Glad your MRI went well, I think that for both of us this is the year we get all the junk done and get healthy again. I'm going to see if that book is on Libby first. Sadly my library is very limited, but I'd like to read it, Ill just order it if I can't read it.

Maryq, I also remember Sophia in that snow suit. I have a junk drawer and clean it out often, it just seems to fill up. I also turn on my a/c early. It's been on all night because it never got below 85 before I went to bed. It will be on all day today too. I have my electric bill set up so that I am billed the same amount each month and they adjust that amount every so often. I will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The Alz class was mostly taken from the Alzheimer's website. They offer information and online classes. The hand outs I got were provided by them. Nothing overly exciting. A recipe book, some pamphlets. Have her look at their website.

Lyn, prayers have been said for Maddox. Wish I could offer more, but it's all I got, and I know it works. Hug his mom for me and let her know she is also being thought of.

The a/c is on, all fans in this house are on, and it's a comfy 77 degrees inside. I have no where to be so I will get things done here. but first, breakfast.

Sandee has ADHD, as well as does my Ethan. Ethan does have a few meltdowns once in awhile. He's on a med, but that med wears off during the day. Sandee, being a Special Ed teacher, learned that a dose of caffeine, like in a small can of Dr Pepper can help with a meltdown. We keep one around for Ethan. It5 the caffeine that helps. If Maddox gets diagnosed with ADHD, make sure that the school knows of it, as by law, they have special programs that allow for help in learning. ADHD people have a complete different way of thinking and processing the world around them. They get to the same point as the rest of us do, just a different way around the elephant.

Good morning. The game last night was fun. It wasn't traditional baseball. The Savanah Bananas is more about entertainment. Lots of dancing, trick catches, a baby crawl, a baby banana and so much more. It was fun.

Chriss, yes, you and Bill are twins. Hopefully you'll both have nothing significant to show for it. The Bananas are similar to the Globetrotter's. They stop the game and do a contest with fans and many other things.

Jana, the newer chair have wheels that collect hair, thread, and fibers. My chair is over 45 years old and has hard rubber wheels that don't do that. I hope it outlives me. It was originally my moms art/typing chair. I'm sure the kids are having a blast at D-land.

Maryz, I really need to go though my fabrics too. It's a big job. Seems like when I do it, the next day I'm pulling fabrics and it's a mess again. Glad the MRI went well. Hope your back isn't too bad.

Valerie, 70-71 is what we keep the heat at in the winter. A/C stay at 77-78. I don't like being cold.

Judi, you have a busy day. Congratulations to Sophia. Did she make her dress? I made my dress for my junior high graduation. It was a beautiful formal halter dress with a shear long sleave top over it.

Lois, I'm with you on the no sew mood. Hoping mine comes back soon.

We walked early to beat the heat. Yesterday was 96. Today is supposed to be cooler at 88. The house is open, but will close it up once the heat kicks in about 1130-12. I really need to run the vacuum since I didn't do that the other day. I did get the sheets washed and back on the bed already this morning, so I'm ahead of the game. I might do a little quilting on my hexie quilt today, and I'll be watching the Cub game too. Don't know what's for dinner just yet.
