Good morning I was up early, and i have a busy day today. Brunch with a friend, take Ken to pick up his car, then pick up the kids at the airport and in between there maybe just maybe my sewing machine will come in...She said it is unusual for it to take this long and no one is sure why,,,so I wait, I also have a ton of other things on my list that wont get done today.
I have used up most of the meat in my freezer so it is time for a restock. I have been making a list and find we dont eat as much red meat as we used to,,,I still have some veggies from last fall to use up...they are vacume sealed so they keep a bit longer but still time to uses them up/ green beans and corn mostly. Since the parents are home I will have more time to get that squared away. Not so much kid duty...
No quilting here the quilt is loaded and 2 passes are done...Could one of you petition for more hours in a day for me...thanks in advance,,
I need coffee and see what I can get done before my friend gets here,,,
Have a great day I plan to also.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

[flash=][flash=]Good morning,
JUDI - I think I will have a few extra hours this afternoon that I won't be using. You may have them if you wish. Does sound like you will make good use of them. Your day sounds jam packed! Sure hope that machine shows itself to you today. Hope the kids' trip home is uneventful. I imagine Jeff is anxious to see his dad and mom. Eleanor Burns is how I got started in quilting, too. When her first log cabin book came out. I remember hearing the phrase "Make a quilt in a day" and couldn't believe it so I was intrigued. It would be kind of comforting to hear stories of others' boo boos. One of my early big mistakes was not realizing when I used fusible to applique I was supposed to remove the paper backing! It's all still in that quilt. The very first quilt I made was a split rail. I didn't know about rulers and rotary cutters so I just used my scissors and eyeballed it when cutting the strips. It actually turned out OK despite me and my ignorance.
LOIS - your day sounds a bit more relaxed than Judi's. Your BJ's must be kind of like a Costco or Sam's?
TINA - You've been working hard in your yard! It's going to be beautiful for the graduation party! Have you had any sewing time? What kind of paint are you using to redo your gnome population?
JANA - I love Clydesdales, too. They are so majestic! We got to see the Budweiser Clydesdale team in Ft. Collins, CO several years ago. Super cool! So, are the kids having a good time in D-land? I know - silly question. Sorry your AAA team is getting thrashed and glad it wasn't my team that did the thrashing! But have to say, going to the AAA game was way more fun than going to a pro game. More home town feeling. And we were only 40 feet from home plate.
LORI - I hope your Bill is OK. I'm glad he's getting the cardiac monitor. I don't mind going to the dentist for cleanings either. But I do mind having crowns removed and new ones put in. My first visit to a dentist when I was 9, back in 1960, was traumatic. I sat in the chair for 3 solid hours, tears streaming down my face, had 8 cavities filled in all four quadrants of my mouth, with no novacaine. He kept that drill going non-stop. Not the greatest way to introduce a child to dentistry. My second visit, 3 years later, was nearly as bad. He used novacaine but the whole side of my face was bruised and swollen for 4 days. He was the only dentist in town back in those days. He was a sadist and also the mayor. Most folks my age who grew up here were his victims and have similar stories.
CHRISS - I hope your class yesterday was more informative. I think the book, Moments of Joy by Jolene Brackey was one of the most informative books I've ever read. My brother cared for his wife, who had Alz, at home, by himself, for two years at the height of Covid. He had no help, she couldn't do stairs so they slept on a futon in the living room, and had only a half bath for cleaning up. No shower. He had to learn to cook, do laundry, patient care, etc. He couldn't leave her alone even to go outside to get firewood. If he had to run an errand, go to a business appt or to his truck shop, he had to take her. A friend who had been through this suggested this book to him. He read it, and read it again. We all read it! It's written in a practical, funny way that is useful to families and caregivers and explains so much of their behavior. We did get Bill's biopsy results back - they were inconclusive so had to be sent away for molecular testing which takes 4 weeks. So that's what we're waiting on. If it's positive he'll have surgery and then whatever treatment advised. If it's negative, he'll have repeat ultrasounds every 6 months for a while.
MARY Q - did you get your dishwasher fixed? What was the problem? I hope it wasn't too expensive.
LYN - are you there yet??
I've gone to so many appointments this month that yesterday I was headed for the car when I realized I didn't have to go anywhere! I had to laugh at myself. So I spent the day in my sewing room, going through all my fabrics, purging, refolding, reorganizing. So far I have a full tote of reject fabric and I've only gone through about a third of it. I will keep on this project through the weekend. Bill finished quilting my Star Silhouette so when I finish playing in the fabric I'll trim, bind, and label that. Today I have two appointments - chiropractor at 9 and a spinal MRI at noon. They will sedate me for this so I may spend the rest of the afternoon sleeping that off. Not sure about supper - we have cooked chicken in the fridge so maybe I'll make a chicken noodle casserole this morning and have it ready to pop into the oven this evening and serve it with sliced avocado and cherry tomatoes. I'm all out of other produce.
Hope y'all have a great day and can get in a little quality time with your bobbins!

Re: Friday May 30th , 2025
Good morning world. temps are heating up here. It's 55 now but going to get close to 90. I have the house opened up but will close it up once the sun starts to come in the back. Will then turn the AC on. Me and hot weather do not get along.
Tina sounds like things are coming along nicely at your place. Congratulations to all your graduates. It is so easy to get behind here. I try to come visit everyday but sometimes I just don't make it.
Jana how fun, love Disneyland Didn't realize they use Clydesdales. I always look forward to their commercial for the super bowl.
Lori hopefully they figure out wha is going on with Bill and straighten it out. 12 minutes from Disneyland? That would be fun.
Chriss sorry the class wasn't what you expected. Depending on the person though, some Alzheimer's do also suffer from Depression. More so early in the disease. Hope the Alzheimer's class went better. I have had ringing in my ears for ears but that's because I am hard of hearing. I have not checked with PGE. I will have to do that. Wasn't sure a CPAP would qualify as it's not a 24 hr a day thing.
Judi seems like a long time to wait, but I have been disappointed with the post office lately. Most packages are coming late.
Maryq we all need professional help from time to time.
Maryz oh some rain would be wonderful! Yes, the darn IBS has flared up. It is better today but I am having to be strict about the diet. The flare ups can last for some time so I am trying to be good. Yes, when I get to UGRR blocks they will be 1800s. I have the fabrics for Farm Girl Vintage II but haven't made much progress. Trying to focus on wone thing at a time. Maybe they should just let you sit in the chair for a bit before taking your BP.
Well I think I need one more cup of coffee and looks like it's time to shut up the house. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!
Another scorcher today. But at least it's not triple digits, yet. There's enough moisture in the air that a thunderstorm possibly will bubble up, this afternoon.
2 long sleeves to iron is all i have left to do this morning and my laundry is caught up. Mr G will haul it back and hang it up. Then I'll be down in the Batt Cave. The rest of the day. I still need to sew down a few inches on Andrew's quilt. He leaves in a little over a week. Nothing like the last minute!
But that's family tradition. My mom would be finishing the hem of the prom dress as I would be heading out the door. I did the same to Sarah's prom dress and now the next generation!
Mr G's peach colored shirt for the party arrived and my new shirt and pants are arriving today. Hope they fit! His shirt was fine. He has a pair of jeans already, so we're set. I got a peachy lace shirt and white slacks.
Not much else.
Judi - awhile ago when all this tariff snafu started, Sarah had a new computer ordered and it got hung up in being delivered. We figured out what the company was doing, trying to raise the price, so she canceled, found a same computer, locally and picked it up immediately. Hope that the manufacturer isn't playing games with your dealer!
Off I go,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Blue sky and sunshine in St Francis, KS.
Judi, I hope your machine arrives today. As for extra hours, if you find a pot full, I could use a few also.
Lois, Happy shopping.
MaryZ, It's about a four hour drive to Hays today. We'll leave there Sunday morning. As for BP, Garry was told by a Dr, years ago, that it should be taken 3 times. The first time your brain thinks OH no big problem and so it's high. The second time the brain is wondering, what's going on again and the third time the brain is like, no big deal this has just happened before and the BP is more normal.
As for learning to quilt, I started around 2002. My not yet SIL showed me the basting gun she had gotten. It was a new great thing. My Mom quilted, so I went into a QS looking for the basting gun and I found a watercolor wall hanging kit with hot air balloons. I had to buy it, as I was still flying or crewing on balloons. Before I got that going, I decided I needed to make a quilted cover for the cedar chest at the end of the bed so the dog didn't scratch it jumping on it to get to the bed. Then I had a great idea, NOT, I had seen something done with chenille and silly me thought a King size quilt would be wonderful. Needless to say, it's a UFO. As for the basting gun, I bought it for Mom but I don't think she used it much. I found it when we were cleaning out the house and now it's in one of the boxes in my cabin.
Even though I was up at 6 yesterday, it was noon before I had us headed down the canyon. Got the Jeep hooked up and on the road at 1:30. It's only a 4 hour drive, but we lost an hour with time change, so rolled in at 6:30. Garry was confused and kept saying I was going the wrong way.
After a much needed glass of wine, we had leftover baby back ribs and a salad.
Enjoying my coffee and listening to Minnie snoring as she's sleeping on the dash. Since it's only 4 hours to Hays, we can be a little lazy this morning.
Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Re: Friday May 30th , 2025
Good Morning Girls
Up, showered and dressed and will actually get of the house today--just to the bank to cash a check--payment for the patches I made. When I DO go out I try to think of what else/where else I need to go to do it all at the same time, but nowhere else I need to go today! Had thought about running up to Home Depot, but will save that for another day! I always spend too much money when I go there.
Judi.... Are they waiting on your machine to come from the manufacturer? Is it far away from Michigan? Sure would be nice if it would arrive today as then you'd have the whole weekend to play with it! OH man, would I love more hours in the day.. Sometimes I don't want to go to bed at night because it means that the day is over and they are all just going by way too fast! I hate the time is flying by.
Lois....Does a house ever get "done"!!! Seems like when I think it's all done, someone (probably me) comes in a makes a mess again somewhere. I need to grab my whip and chair and go chase dust bunnies one of these days.
Maryz... Sounds like we came to the same place to learn how to quilt. I too had heard of Quilt In A Day, I think from a class that our community ed department offered. I just googled it instead and here I am... 18 years later!! I think I might try to find that book for my neighbor Peggy.... her DH has Dementia. Yesterday she texted me--"I NEED A BREAK" I had told her a long time ago, if she ever needed to get away for a little bit to walk on over. Isn't a day at home spent in the sewing just the best!!
Valerie... Oh yes, gotta have professional help from time to time.. been there done that!!
Jana.....When is your Anniversary party? Sounds like you are all ready for it. Are you having it at your house? When we planned my folks party, we had it in a big social space at her church. The funny thing is, that social space at one time was classrooms for the elementary school, and I had 3rd grade there!
Lyn.... I had always heard tho no one BP measurement is totally accurate, so to take an average. I have one of those little wrist BP machines, and I know it's not as accurate as the Dr's office, but man, when they use that cuff---it HURTS!! So no wonder my BP goes up! I remember to check mine occasionally. You'll be heading north soon? Wave as you go by!!!
Chriss.... Sorry your class was a bust. Did you get a lot of info at the Alzheimer's class. I think that would be an interesting class to take as there are so many different types of dementia tho some symptoms are so similar. I was talking to Peggy (across from me) about her DH and she seems comfortable talking about Gary's "type" and his behaviors. I often wondered if some of the behaviors in dementia reflect on their personalities before. She said that in Gary's case, some of his personality traits have been magnified---like always thinking HE is right--about everything.
Looks like it going to be a warm day, but hopefully not too hot as I'm not ready to turn on the AC just yet. The d/w repair man came, as is "murphy's law"---the dang thing worked just FINE!! while he was here--no noises, no flashing lights. Ran a load and no problems. So I paid a trip charge for nuthin'. He did say that if it does it again, with in 60 days they will come back no charge. So I'll give it another try and see what happens.
Per usual I have about 3 little sewing things I'm doing at the same time, so I think I'll go run to the bank and wait for divine inspiration to tell me what one to do next. I'm just trying to use up layer cakes and jelly rolls I have, making small things that I can quilt myself.
Wishing you all the very best

Re: Friday May 30th , 2025
Good morning. It's supposed to be triple digits today and tomorrow, guess it had to happen sooner or later. I've already closed up the house and turned on every fan I have.
Today is my heart doctor appointment, I'm sure it's just the meet and greet to determine what I do next. Likely a sonogram which I've had done before. Would be really nice if they could just do it while I'm there.
Yesterday my class on Alz was so good. It was really about being a caregiver for an Alz patient. Lots of great handouts, resources and strategies. I even got coloring book, I can't find my colored pencils but while I am out today I will pick some up.
Lori, how was Bill's appointment, how long does he have to wear the heart monitor? I also need to dust and vacuum, perhaps another day.
Tina, your yard will be an inviting place this summer, it sounds like a nice place for a bbq
Judi, I also don't eat much as I used to and it seems things come in big packages needing to be broken down. Hope you find those extra hours, I could contribute some evening hours, but my morning is pretty packed.
Maryz, when I looked at your signature it said "Maryz, flash flash" Kinda early to be flashing people. I had forgotten Bill was inconclusive. Hope the mri goes well and shows a solution. You have quite a scarry dentist story. My dentist, when I was little, let us pick a prize from the treasure chest after our appointment.
Lois, hope your errand run is quick and complete.
Valerie, check with PG&E and also look into their program to offer a free battery thing. They and DRAIL, offered free charging back up battery things for those who have medical equipment. I've had mine for easily 10 years and only used it once but if the power goes out I can charge my phone and run my cpap machine, and perhaps a lamp.
Jana, the tariff stuff had a huge part in my buying a laptop and a car. Just this morning I was wondering if you had gotten your outfits for the party, sounds like you will both look just peachy. Can't wait to see the pciture.
Lyn, Glad today is a no hurry day. safe travels
Maryq, the class was more for the caregiver but very informative. I have a lot of reading material. Unlike you, my A/C has been on and off so far this year. I don't do heat well. Happy jelly roll layer cake quilt making. I like layer cakes because they make nice half square triangles using the MSQC method that Jenny Doan teaches. And you can do just about anything with a HST. They are my goto for a quickie.
Today UPS will be bringing Moose his new feeding station. It's a Neater Feeder. I bought it with Amazon points so it was free to me, even though I had to earn the points.
Bear Creek Quilting Company (I get their emails) has a free sew along mystery starting tomorrow, I might check it out.
I have nothing on my calendar after my doctor appointment today. My floors could use some attention but other than that I am a free woman, I think I will catch up housework and play in my room. I am starting my binding for Elliott's quilt. Like Jana, I do things last minute.
Time for breakfast and to head into town, you girls have a marvy day

Today is my heart doctor appointment, I'm sure it's just the meet and greet to determine what I do next. Likely a sonogram which I've had done before. Would be really nice if they could just do it while I'm there.

Jana, one year we were at the county fair and Clydesdales came though the middle isle where we were. We were close enough to touch them. They are beautiful giants. I never realize just how big they were until I was standing next to them. Your outfit sounds perfect for a party.
Maryz, Bill is fine. He's had this for a long time. As he get older he worries more about it. Hope the MRI gives you some insight to what's going on with your back. Bill has arthritis and degenerative disks in L4-5.
He's had a couple surgeries that only helped temporarily. He won't do it again unless he can't walk. He works out and walks everyday. He also plays golf twice a week. The doctors are amazed that he is able to stand up straight.
Judi, how fun to have brunch with a friend. Hope you had a good time. I bet the kids enjoyed having you this week. Pretty soon they'll be off living their lives.
Lois, enjoy your no plans day. They are the best.
Valerie, nothing serious with Bill. His dad had several heart attacks so they are just cautious.
Lyn, hope your travels go smoothly today and you don't "need" a glass of wine when you arrive, but rather want to enjoy one.
Maryq, well that's about right. Hopefully the dishwash won't have anymore problems.
Chriss, hope your appointment goes well. Sounds like it was a good class yesterday. They told Bill to wear it up to 14 days. He doesn't think it will stay on that long. It's a small device on his chest. I didn't get to the dusting and vacuuming yesterday. I'm in no hurry. I signed up for the Bear Creek Quilting Company to see what the sew-a-long is about.
I got the shopping done early this morning. We're going to a ball game this afternoon/evening. It's the Savannah Bananas. I have no idea what to expect. Until then I'll just hang around the house and maybe tidy up.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Friday May 30th , 2025
I got the call my machine arrived today and it is the sale price. It was already here in the USA. No tarrif issues. She will have it ready by noon tomorrow. We have Sophia's 8th grade graduation ,mass at 4 so I need to get there. She wanted to unpack it and make sure all is well..and give me a brief tute as to how it works...I pretty much know how it works but mostly to make sure. I have decided that I will take all day sunday in my sewing room to bond with my new ( yet to be named) child. Hoping all here cooperate with my plan xxxooo
