Good morning,
It's suppose to be 70⁰ outside today I'm glad I hate damp chilly days.
I'm almost finished cutting my posh sunflower out.
I went to the fabric warehouse and I picked up almost 10 yards of fabric when I got there there were only three of us shopping and I rather enjoyed it 6 yards of it is for my quilted snowman it's gray with white snowflakes marked 5.00 a yard I hit jackpot the lady who runs the place came to talk to me said you haven't been here in a long time I told her for the past couple of years you have only had decorator fabric on sale and that is not my interest.
Lynn my granddaughter Olivia is a hair designer for Ulta beauty and as they go up in rank so does their prices she charges 70.00 for a cut and blowout .
I'm fortunate she comes to my house and I give her 30.00.
Well that's all the news from here have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good Morning Lois. I know prices have gone up, I dont get regular haircuts only when I get my hair permed about 2-3 times a year, I believe my girl charges $35 for a hair cut, but my perm and the works is around $135, plus tip. The cost of being beautiful is very expensive,,,LOL,
Yesterday we went to the kids house and I cooked dinner for the kiddos and made enough for chicken sandwiches today. Then Liam and Nolan left for thier various social activities, and we took Sophia out for frozen custard, She had hers with strawberries.
Today we will head back there and I will make sure they have everything they need for the rest of the week. Parents come home on friday,,,I will see what the rest of the week looks like, Colleen's in laws were supposed to help out with the kids the rest of the week but her father inlaw is in the hospital newly diagnosed with lung cancer with mets to the brain,,,it will be a long diffucult battle for him,,Your prayers would be appreciated,,,He is a good guy,
I will continue the UFO journey, working on all the stuff i have here .
My friend texted me this morning that a lady is selling her entire stash at $5 a yd, in June,,,so I might go and see if there is anything i need,,,she is alsi selling rullers and patterns and notions of all kinds,,,It is all quilt shop fabric,
Well I need to go down and see what kind of mess Ken is making in my kitchen,,,He is cookin french toast, with home made bread, I dont eat it I just watch from afar in case he needs help.
Hope you all have a great day. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: Sunday May 25,2025
Good morning all, have been busy the last few days with chores, sewing and open sew. Kira is at the LQS waiting for the long armer to pick up today. I will be back there today and tomorrow for open sew. A group of us will be working on Underground railroad at least for a bit. I am bringing some other things to work on also.
Maryz BIL is gone back to Arkansa. He is living with someone he met online but renting a room. This is someone who I think is married and possibly has children. I have no idea if he is working or not. He stayed his allotted days and then went home.
Big surprise for me last night, my granddaughter that I made the Owl quilt for called and thanked me for it. I haven't seen or spoken to her in probably 10 years or more. She has never thanked me for anything either. I am wondering if now that her other grandma is gone, and I am all she has left......... Who knows.
Judi $35 is good for a haircut. My friend called her hairdresser to see about getting mine trimmed. $60! Oh my gosh, so sorry Colleen's FIL has a new horrible diagnosis. That's a tough one. Praying God provides for a peaceful rest of life however long it is.
Lori is "Up the Street" your Dad's?
Chriss yes being the sole heir is nice as you have nobody to answer too. I might as well been as nobody offered any help. Glad you are feeling better.
Lyn we are in a cooling pattern right now but Will heat up coming thursday. I am also scheduled for the Jury Duty that day. Dr. never got back to me so guess unless they tell me otherwise I am giong. Maybe I will not get picked. I will make sure that happens.
But for now, got lots to do before I leave. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning!
Beautiful so far, but the clouds will appear, with some rain, maybe. Church is in awhile and the hymns are ones i know well. My hymn book on the music stand is just there for looks, I have most of the 300 plus hymns in that book memorized , so it's really not needed. The new hymns the church is adding, that's a whole 'nother ball of wax!
So I be in the Batt Cave after church, seeing what squirrels I can wake up. It's nice not to be invaded, as Mr G puts it, with kids dropping by to visit. Most Sundays they just show up. When they come, the grands head to my kitchen and make a batch of cookies. They love fresh out of the oven, but not today.
The girl that does my hair and Sarah's, charges me 35 dollars and Sarah's cut and color runs about 150 dollars every 8 weeks or so. I've decided mother nature is cheaper than that for my current color, white over brown! Just keeps on getting whiter by the day!
My BP is slowly coming down. After I'm on the meds for two weeks, if it's not below 140/80, I'm instructed to double up the current pill. Currently I'm around 160/75, average. Sure a lot better than the 206 /100 I had! Another 5 days for the two weeks.
Well, time to scoot,
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning,
JUDI - I am so sorry for your DSIL and his family but especially for his dad. What an awful diagonsis. I'm sure the kids appreciate you helping out with the food. And it's very sweet of you to help carry the load the other grandparents were going to take on. Has the dx happened just since the kids have been gone?
LOIS - I thought you were already sewing on Sunflowers. Is that gray snowflake for your Snowman background or backing?
VAL - You have a lot of sewing going on. When did you start a UGRR?
CHRISS - I'm relieved that you saw the doctor and got a good answer from him/her. But you still have an appt on the calendar to see the neurologist? Great that you got in to see the C-Pap doc, too. Is your super hot weather kicking in yet?
LYN - my stylist charges $30 for a haircut. Men are $25. Bill usually goes to Great Clips and pays $25 there. When will you be leaving for Canada? And your new machine goes with? What kind of set up do you have for it in the motorhome? We took 2 chairs out of the fiver and turned our dining table into the corner. Bill got me a Sew-EZ table for my machine and I make an "L" with it and the dining table. We never sit at the table to eat so this has enlarged the overall space in the room and I can see the TV (if I want to) when I sew.
MQ - did you get your morning chores done before Peg got there. I wouldn't worry too much as long as there's a place to sit. A super clean house is a sign of a wasted mind. Did the wedding quilt get quilted yet?
JANA - you need to refresh us - which quilt is for Andrew that he is going to take to TX? Yikes on Mr.g's BS. A good thing you caught it! I bet your Ginger was a delight!
Our dinner last night was, as always, much fun. Dinner was flank steak on the grill, potato salad, and spinach/strawberry salad. And dessert was my apple pie with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce drizzled over all. We came home at 10pm stuffed! Today we're going to Oly to have supper with other friends, Marc & Sherri. I'm taking an appetizer. In sewing news, I got the inner and middle borders on Bewitched. Today my plan is the last border and piece the backing. This is one of the projects I worked on in Texas so the blocks were all made. Just a matter of putting them all together. I dug out my tote of summer clothes and I might sort and probably purge them today if there's time. Laundry is tomorrow's big chore.
Hope we all get covered in bits of thread today!
mary z
We have a sweet 'show' to watch from our deck. We have a bird house on the side of our house way up under the eave about 12 feet from where we sit on the deck. We are hearing a lot of little cheeping from in that house and mama and daddy bird are pretty busy ferrying food for those little cheepers. Not sure what kind of bird they are. But sort of brown and tiny.

Re: Sunday May 25,2025
Good morning. It will be a warm one today, I think summer is creeping in.
No real plans for today. The parents are supposed to be here but we will see. Dad wants to complete little jobs and stepmom doesn't realize stopping him to ask questions adds time to his work. I can take her for a drive but that doesn't last all day. Dad, like me, doesn't ask for or easily accept help. We both have the I'm fine, I can do it myself attitude. Not a good trait.
Lori, aren't you glad your parents didn't live in a mansion? Imagine cleaning out the nooks and crannies that never end. Yet they, like my parents, stuffed their nooks and crannies plum full. I picture you in an office opening a closet door and laying on the floor under piles of stuff. Hope you find lots of things that make you smile.
Lois, nice that Olivia makes house calls. When I took my stepmom to get her hair done it was $35 for the wash, cut and blow dry. Something tells me they were happy to see you at the fabric warehouse. They sure noticed when you hadn't been in. Nice to be noticed.
Judi, remember when you used to stay with the kids? Guess that means they are growing up, glad Sophia isn't too old to go have frozen custard with her grandparents. prayers said for the other grandpa. Wish I could go with you to the fabric sale, sounds like lots of fun. Does Ken put cinnamon in his french toast? Marilyn loved cinnamon, she would call it dirt, she wanted dirty apples or dirty french toast.
Valerie, nice of your granddaughter to call, especially after such a long time. I hope you two reconnect and talk often. So glad DBIL went back to Ark, now you can exhale.
Jana, glad that BP is under control. Kind of scarry having a health issue. I have colored my hair in the past but am on your team of let it go grey. I hope your squirrels are sleeping in and you get a lot done.
Maryz, I love birds. Mine seem to consist of a black bird, a blue jay, doves, meadowlarks and a Robin. but occasionally something will fly in and catch my eye. I love the meadowlark song and I haven't seen him but there is a mocking bird that lives here too. I wouldn't mind a slice of that apple pie, didn't know there was a scoop of ice cream included or I might have shown up. I have to call Tuesday (monday is a holiday) to make a neurosurgeon appointment. Other than that all doctor appointments have been made. Heart doctor on the 30th, thyroid at the end of June. I have to say, I never thought I would have lined up doctors appointments. I'm not overjoyed about it either.
Yesterday I sewed almost all of the 5inch charms I have in sets of two. I want to sew them into 4's and square them up so I can sew those together and that quilt top will be added to the others I have wanting to be put together.
This morning I plan to walk away the pounds with Youtube, get my shower and get dressed then go water some parched trees. And somewhere in there I will have breakfast and clean up the kitchen. Dinner will be leftover roast beast, and if there is more leftover it will likely see the freezer.
You all have an amazing day
Chriss

Overcast but the sun is trying to pop through.
Thanks for the haircut costs. The lady I've gone to for years down at the Texas coast charges $20 for a cut. I guess $70 might be worth it if they could help me decide on a good style for my now wavy to curly hair. I have never colored my hair. When it started going gray, I told my girls they caused it and I wasn't covering it up.
Judi, Sad to hear about the FIL, I will send up prayers.
MaryZ, I had to do a double take when you mentioned Jana's Mr G's BS. I finally realized you meant blood sugar. Guess I need more coffee.
I have a Sew-Ezi table and have already ordered the plastic piece to fit the 570QE. I had emailed them Thursday evening and asked if they could get one to me by the end of next week, sending it to the campground in MO. A man emailed me to order and write urgent on it and he would be watching for it and get it out. He also told me that the 570QE has an older version with small bobbin, so make sure I ordered the one that said jumbo bobbin. We'll leave MO June 8th and head for Canada unless there's some issue after seeing the Dr.
I didn't get to play with my machine yesterday, stuff got in the way. Kitchen is cleaned and groceries bought for tomorrow. I did spend a little time at the LQS looking around and visiting the manager, who I've known for years. My sister called me while I was in the shop and told me she had fallen and hit her head and has 2 staples in it. I prepped our Oregano Chicken Salad and while it was in the fridge blending the flavors together, I sent a text to my sister's youngest daughter, Karla, who is a Dr. My questions prompted Karla and older niece, Karen, to conference call me and talk for over an hour. My sister, La Jean isn't doing well. She takes hours to get dressed, she's having trouble getting around. My nieces are trying to get her to agree to moving over to the assisted living area of the complex. I told them I would talk with her and encourage the move. My DBIL Red seems to be adjusting to the new memory care home he was moved to last Tuesday. Big changes for them both.
Chriss, I'm glad you're doing Ok.
After I start laundry I will look at the new machine and get attachments into the box they get stored in. I have my coverlet on the dining room table and plan to just tie it which will be faster than sewing it. Hopefully I can get both done. Dinner is leftovers.
Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Re: Sunday May 25,2025
Good morning Girls
Looks like I never made it back here yesterday! I did plan to, but then another friend from the old neighborhood stopped over with a little embroidery project she's asking me to do--for her granddaughter's graduation ---- stitching some pretty dragonflys on towels to take to college. So I did a couple practice ones and will do the real thing later today. Sometime today I need to go to the kids and check on Miss Grace, the cat!
Lois... What fun... to have the fabric warehouse all to yourself!! (almost) At the warehouse I go to, you can cut your own fabric, up to 5 yards! Sometimes I remember to bring my own scissors! I loved the gal that did my hair for years, but she now charges $40 for just a hair cut. I hate to leave her, but have been going to a gal that Kris goes to for $25.+tip. When I was in the business--the rule of thumb was you didn't tip the owner of the salon, but I guess that is no longer the case.
Judi.... Oh heck, honey at $5.00/yd buy it even if you DON'T need!!!
(this from someone who has more fabric than she needs!) I do have a thing for rulers too and would be tempted by them as well. Except that I found a container the other day with rulers I forgot I had! Will send prayers for Jeff's Dad. It will be a tough road and I pray for God's Grace for him.
Valerie.... How great that your DGD actually Called you!!! I don't think kids are even taught to say please and thank you anymore!! A lot of simple manners just aren't around any more. But I hope you have a nice conversation and were able to catch up with her. Does she live close enough for a visit? Are you breathing a sigh of relief that BIL is gone?
Jana...Good news that the BP is coming down. Years ago, we had a patient at our drugstore, his son was an EMT. The son took his Dad's BP and it was fine, so he told the Dad "You don't have blood pressure" so Dad quit taking his pills. Not long after that, Dad came very close to having a stroke. SO by all means, DON'T stop taking your meds when the BP comes down to a normal range. How many squirrels are running around in your batt cave?
Maryz.... You had me worried there for a minute... I didn't see you! The wedding quilt is in que and I have a sneaky feeling Kris and Viv may be working on it this week. Since the wedding isn't until October, there is no rush. Tom and Viv will be up mid July for Brennen's 21st birthday, so if she brings it up then, that works too. I was hoping that they would get a chance to do the Alaska quilt, as I'd like to try to bring that up to Jen when I go. Your dinner sounds fabulous... especially the part about apple pie with ice cream and caramel sauce.
Lyn... I don't dare go look at a new machine!!! That Bernina sounds wonderful, but I'd have to rob a bank for it! I prefer my little house to a cell at the Women's Facility it Shakopee, MN.
You will have lots of fun with yours, I'm sure. I've found a lot of inexpensive designs on Etsy and my favorite place is "Designsbyjuju.com" She has a sale of some sort all the time and around the first of the month, there's always new ones. With a bigger hoop you have a lot more options.
Chriss... SO glad you went to DR for a quick "check it out"!! If nothing else, you gained some peace of mind--and bonus got your CPAP checked out too! Like you, I hate asking for help!!! Even with Shawn so close, I feel bad when I have to ask him to stop by and put salt in my water softener, but I just know I can't life a 40lb bag of salt any more. I never want to be a burden!!
Lori.... Gotta love Chicken terriyaki!! I make it all the time--every time I get groceries I seem to grab a different sauce.. Last one I grabbed was a Korean sauce at Target--it was pretty darn good. How the office clean going? Once you are all done, will you likely put the house on the market?
Guess I'll get up and get going. Might start one of the dragonflys on a towel and see what happens! Normally the design will tell you what number thread to use, but this one tells me numbers I don't recognize so I'm kind of winging it! Wish me luck! I'm just afraid I'm going to wreck a towel!!!
Hope you all have a great day!

Valerie, yes, up the street is my parent home where I grew up. That's why my dad was able to stay in his home as long as he did. I was a block away. How nice to get a phone call.
Chriss, I'm just amazed at home much stuff you can have in a closet. The space is cleaned and usable.
Still need to do bookshelves and files, but that will be easier now.
Maryq, who does miss Grace belong to? I just use plain Kikoman teriyaki. I put the chicken in a container and cover it. It can stay for 2-3 days until I'm ready to grill. Super easy. Dragonfly towels will be pretty.
Lyn, I've never colored my hair either. I barely get over to get it cut every 3-4 months. Hope you found time to play.
Maryz, your dinner last night sounds wonderful.
Jana, sounds like the meds are working. Glad your BP is down.
Judi, how terrible for the in-laws. I bet the kiddos were happy with the feast you provided.
Lois, glad you found some fabrics.
I worked up the street for a bit. Then went to a LQS to get some batting. I'm taking some tops with me when I visit my friend in AZ. Hopefully we'll be able to figure out the longarm she has set up in her sewing room I'm sure there will be some time spent on Youtube. Didn't cook the teriyaki last night, so that's what's on the menu tonight. The little orange kitty came to visit again. I took a carrier up there so I can take her to the vet next time she show up. I want to see if she's chipped. She is so friendly I think she was left or dumped.
Have a lovely evening.
